  1. We looked very vulnerable at the back again today. Looked to me like it was a 4-3-3 with Sheron playing alongside Shaughnessy. Anyway it was a slightly better second half although we still get carved open far too easily at times. McPherson did well again and Connolly impressed. It still looks like Goodwin is trying to find a team and formation that will see us do far better than what we've seen so far this season. The next quarter of league matches will be crucial for the team and manager.
  2. Is he still with us? Really liked the look of him any time he played.
  3. Airdrie v St Mirren at New Broomfield on a Friday night during the millennium champions season. Basher scores o put us two nothing up, my brother punches my glasses off whilst celebrating and they fall on to the row in front - just as I'm teaching down to get them the guy in front accidentally jumps on top of them while celebrating. I spent the rest of the game trying to watch through one lens and twisted frames!! Great win though 😆
  4. I would have guessed Falkirk would be the more likely team Chelsea would be interested in.
  5. I liked the look of Zanatta. Hearts player who was on loan to Alloa. Wright from Aberdeen looks decent as well
  6. Frustrating we weren't out of sight by the first half. Lyons seemed caught in two minds with the second big chance. Flynn, Muzek, Popescu and Hladky were excellent. We can definitely catch Hamilton and we have the quality in the squad to get better. Also thought Cooke did well again today. Definitely has something about him and could be the unlikely hero come the split.
  7. Ricky Gillies volley from about 45 yards out!! Lobs Andy Rhodes. Rhodes changed his goalie top at half time from his luminous one he had on in case he tried it again!
  8. It will take a very good coach to get us out of this shambles Stubbs has created. i don't think the board trust Stubbs enough to bring more players in hence the lack of signings.
  9. The best way forward is sacking him. Prolonging it would be worse. We'll be lucky to bring one more player in never mind 4-5. We need a very good coach who can make us a hard working, organised team where the players know their role - i don't think Stubbs is capable of this from what I've seen.
  10. Stubbs must go! Results, performance, recruitment, tactics have been awful. the manager looks disinterested sitting on the bench, the players look bereft of any confidence. He has no clue what formation to play as he changes it every week hencethe reason the players look as if they hadn't met until 5 minutes to kick off. Abysmal.
  11. We had comps so had to sit amongst the home support. When we scored we naturally jumped out our seat to celebrate, much to some of the locals displeasure!! Great team performance from start to finish. McGinn MOTM for me with a brilliant captains performance. He was getting a lot of stick from the home support for a nothing incident between him and Dowie so it was great to get it right round them when he curled in that 2nd.
  12. Important 3 points and ultimately that's all that matters. In my opinion Sutton is a far better option than Stewart and should play ahead of him. Stewart looks very raw and I'm yet to be convinced he can make it at this level yet - the management did say he was a bit of a project so time will tell. I thought Kirkpatrick did okay, showed some nice touches at times, probably needs a goal or a full 90 minutes to give him the belief that he can play at this level. Samson, L Smith, McGinn and C Smith all get pass marks for me.
  13. Alex Harris has been released from Hibs. Looked a prospect early in his Hibs career and I thought he was QOS's best player when he played against us last season (2015/16).
  14. What a finish that was from McKnight! Great memories from the greatest season I've ever witnessed!
  15. Everything about that season was just magical. So many late goals winners that season and some brilliant goals - McGarrys goals at Livvy, Walkers at Crappielow. The travelling support was something else and there was always a real buzz going to the games. It's really difficult to pick a favourite game as there's so many that have already been mentioned. How about McKnights late winner against Falkirk at Love Street, another brilliant team goal and the finish is class. I wonder if Lee Bullen is still raging we stole his championship
  16. Delighted with this appointment. He's an intelligent, well spoken manager who has a bit of charisma who can lead us to better things. Well done to the board for taking the time over this appointment, to me it seems a well thought, strategic, long term appointment. I really hope the supporters get behind him and we see this as the start of a successful new era for the club. The only way is up!
  17. I thought we did okay tonight. Pleased with the shape of the team, particularly with Naismith trying to get forward more although I always think he struggles fitness wise in games. Didn't think we deserved to lose the match so a point was fair. I thought Baird, Sutton and Morgan did well and I thought Quinn had a good game too. Mallan was very poor, his pass completion rate was abysmal. Hutton wasn't great, again lacks a bit of strength and agility to play that ball winning midfield anchor man role. Disappointed to hear people cheer him getting subbed, can't see what good that does. Hardie should have been subbed at half time, and good to see Clarkson playing in midfield. It might not be his preferred position but Clarkson is a worker and leader who could do a job in the centre of the park - something we really lack at the moment.
  18. I'm undecided, I like Gus, he is one of our most successful managers. He knows what it takes to make a team well organised and tough to beat which is what we've badly lacked in the last 3 years. He's had plenty of experience at the lower levels now so he could possibly identify a few gems. I was impressed with what Hughes did at ICT. He got his team playing good football but that takes a bit of time to develop. At this moment we don't have time, we need someone who can improve results and performances right away. Despite Mixu having an absolute shocker at Dundee Utd, you would like to think he would learn from his mistakes. He has good experience including a spell as international manager not to mention the fine job he did with our youths. He got Kilmarnock playing some great football - again this takes time and good players.
  19. Good teams have a balance, they form good partnerships throughout the pitch eg full back and winger, centre backs, centre mids and strikers. With the current team I don't see any strong partnerships being formed that will help the team progress. Full backs are key players in successful teams, they are the ones who have more of the ball than anyone else on the pitch and should provide chances. Naismith is at his best when driving forward but he's barely crossed the halfway line, we have Irvine on the other side who has to check on to his right foot when he is further forward. The balance of the whole team is wrong and I doubt McKenzie and Quinn are really going to fix that.
  20. Unfortunately I think we'll be stuck with Rae until the end of the season and his contract won't be renewed, unless we are really struggling and there is a real threat of relegation similar to the Murray fiasco. Rae has signed good players but the balance of the squad is completely wrong. Wee Gus to be back in charge for the start of next season I think
  21. Rae has assembled a completely unbalanced squad - No need to have 4 central defenders in such a small squad. We have 4 strikers, 5 if you were to include Gallacher who could play as an attacker. Only 3 central midfielders and not one of them is a ball winner. His poorly thought out squad leaves him with little options to change his tactics.
  22. I thought Raith bullied us yesterday, particularly in the centre of the park. The number of stray passes from Mallan and Hutton was shocking, we really need to toughen up in there. It's hard to believe that the manager, who was a tough tackling midfielder in his day, doesn't have one in his team. Is there anyone in the squad who could do a job in that role? Irvine, Naismith maybe? Mallan and Quinn are better higher up the park Hutton, who has been extremely poor, doesn't look capable of being the ball winner we need. Getting rid of Goodwin is the worst decision Rae has ever made, it actually really pisses me off. Every game in this league is a battle and so far we've lost two of them and fortunate to have one point.
  23. So sad to hear this. I met and played with a lot of great guys over the years and had some great times. The highlight of course was winning the league with a great team managed by Symer and captained by Gordi Mothersole who went on to manage the team. Other highlights include the all day football tournaments we used to attend and the British Cup semi-final trip down to Leeds led by Harpo - great times!!
