Great game last night, won everything in the air and scored a fine headed goal. One of several outstanding players recently. Whilst I admit I had Saints relegated up until recently, and surely it would have been hard to argue with that prognosis, I feel we have turned the corner now and will be staying up. The difference since the turn of 2017 has been night and day . Of course personnel wise its a different team but several previously poor players have turned into footballers under JR.
My gripe about last night is solely with Morton who thoroughly don't deserve even a chance at promotion, given the way they treat away fans. No cover, no change at the turnstiles, no holding up the game to let people in who have had to queue due to their incompetence. Thankfully on last nights showing they have no chance of promotion. Galling thing is, if we took their place I think we would win the play-offs and beat whoever comes from the Premiership.

This is a game we absolutely must take something from, therefore the best players have to be played. Saturday was a chance to steal a march on our nearest rivals but we didn't take it (nor did we deserve to), so any failure to gain points could be fatal if we are to countenance staying in this division. I will be hopping down to Greenock having not missed a game in weeks. The prospect of Morgan playing is a welcome one as he was missed on Saturday.

Questions the rulers of our football ought to be forced to confront. Why hasn't Scotland qualified for any tournament for 20 years ? Why does the same team win the league every season ? Why does it cost so much to watch an inferior standard of football ? Why are grounds all seated ? Why cant fans get a drink at football ? Why does our game get such a paltry sum from tv companies ? Why does the international manager always dictate when he decides to leave ? Why, when fans want a bigger top league, does it not happen ? Why are those two clowns still in a job ?
A combination of inertia and being accustomed to much of the above will continue to see our game further deteriorate. Everyone knows what needs to be done, but will it ever happen ?

Celtic are more than a wee bit complicit in that they encouraged all things anti-Rangers and that they pushed so that they could keep all their home gates.... and let the diddy clubs keep their home gates...  and, as Celtic are always on telly, their 'fans' don't need to visit wee diddy grounds in the numbers that would make a difference.
They have more income and strive to increase that income, despite the fact they are robbing their opponents of any chance of being genuine opposition

Recently, it's slightly different as we now have Sevco around - for a little longer - but Celtic don't encourage them.  Why should they?  They don't need an insular and ephemeral 'Old Firm' to be magicked up against a new diddy club.
Celtic proceed unchallengeable every year to further enrich themselves in European football, with not a thought to the league and teams that sustain them, in 'competition'.

The first law of life is that everything changes.
Before you got interested in football, all teams shared the attendance monies.  The bigot arse-cheeks  did not get to gorge on it all, making themselves even more fat and less attractive.

Once upon a time, THAT was our game.  It WAS changed.  An immoral action I have always felt.  You need more than one team to make a genuine sporting competition.  Neither is lesser than the other.  The rich one MUST HAVE opponents.
With everyone else playing for the also-ran places that renders the whole set-up less attractive.  There are intelligent Celtic fans already aware of the discrepancy and how it makes the game a shambles.  They are already talking about addressing it.   It will not happen soon, but it's inevitable.
To achieve what you suggest DEMANDS FINANCING. Diddy clubs can't just set up huge schemes to cultivate the best talent and hope some of them blend together at the same time to make magic.  Celtic bought the heart from an effective DUFC and see where they are now - and also see where those talented players are...

Rich clubs will hoover up all the talent - English clubs are already doing so.  Top Scottish players will all be bought by wee diddy but rich English lower league clubs (through tv  - often subsidised by daft Scots - subscribers.  Scottish clubs are not operating to achieve success on a fitba field - They operate to keep alive and if that means selling players to keep functioning, then that's what will happen.   Unless there is change the Scottish game will die.  It is already puny and weak in comparison with the English game.

Agree. This of course is the same SFA which has employed Malky McKay. He has now been issuing edicts on the lifestyles of young footballers and seems to be taken seriously. I rest my case ! Rotten to the core.

QOS are beating the other teams at the bottom of the league, something that, overall, we have a problem doing.
That's the main reason they are 5th and we are 10th.
This will be our 5th league match in March, a difficult enough task for any team, never mind one that's anchored at the foot of the table.
If ever we need a result, and a wee bit of luck, this is it.

Betting has no part in my life, probably important to you of course, but I have not said we are certs for the drop, only that I THINK we will be relegated. I have also qualified my statement hoping to be proved wrong. I also posted yesterday about being wrong with the Utd result and admitting I went to the game after saying I wouldn't.
I have noticed before that you seem to delight in haranguing other posters you disagree with. Why not just concentrate on your own views and let others have theirs ?

When I post on here I make it my rule not to insult fellow fans. I have my opinion which I don't expect all to agree with. I do realise Sutton tries hard, he is just no use any more. I also have no wish to return to the trio of players you mention. I presume you mean we have the Hobsons choice of either Sutton or the other 3 in your opinion ? Is that what we are being charged £20 a time for ?
Enjoy the game and I hope we win tonight.

John Sutton is Saints centre forward. Need I say any more ? Quite honestly , regardless of our improved defence, we just don't pose a threat up front. That is the reason we will be relegated I`m afraid. United will beat us tomorrow, likely by one goal. I was there on Saturday but definitely not tomorrow. Asking fans to fork out £40 in a few days is tantamount to daylight robbery.

Exactly ! I said at the time that Craig thought so highly of Scottish football that he believed English lower and non league players could do a job here. This of course was found to be nonsense, as was the appointment of Craig. Lennon latterly proved also to be useless and ought to have been removed a year before he eventually was. His subsequent managerial record proves this. I blame neither Lennon, Craig, Teale, Rae or Murray, it was the incompetents who employed them who are to blame for our current plight.

Should never be anywhere near the Scotland set up, same as Strachan. Whats the odds that the man who says "you know" a thousand times in every interview will be heading back to England to be near the Scotland manager.
Regardless of being ex Morton, a man I cannot abide and someone who has unbelievably eked out a nice living from football management on the basis of very little.

That's the best Saints performance I have seen in a very long time. I admit to have written them off up to now, but this is a completely different team from just a couple of months ago. There was fight and no shortage of skill on that park. McGinn has been a revelation so far and he seems to inspire the others by example. The defence seemed much more competent as well, despite some rough tactics by Hibernian, and Stelios was tremendous. What a difference to leave GHR and see people smiling. If the team plays like this on Saturday, Celtic will have to play some to win.
Congratulations to JR and the boys, play with this kind of determination and we have a good chance of survival. Incidentally I overheard quite a few Hibs fans after the game admitting they were surprised how good Saints were and deserved their win. Even Neil Lennon - despite having incurred the wrath of the crowd - was pleasantly complimentary to Saints in his after match radio summary.
