the best aspect of a thread like this is something I never dreamt I'd be seeing this season - the start of a genuine discussion over a St Mirren player of the Year!
a couple of months ago they were all shite.
now you can't pass a ball without hitting a hero or two.
Fwiw... For me - McGinn.
it was a huge decision and commitment to return to a club that was neck-deep in the shite. And he can play a bit...

Great game last night, won everything in the air and scored a fine headed goal. One of several outstanding players recently. Whilst I admit I had Saints relegated up until recently, and surely it would have been hard to argue with that prognosis, I feel we have turned the corner now and will be staying up. The difference since the turn of 2017 has been night and day . Of course personnel wise its a different team but several previously poor players have turned into footballers under JR.
My gripe about last night is solely with Morton who thoroughly don't deserve even a chance at promotion, given the way they treat away fans. No cover, no change at the turnstiles, no holding up the game to let people in who have had to queue due to their incompetence. Thankfully on last nights showing they have no chance of promotion. Galling thing is, if we took their place I think we would win the play-offs and beat whoever comes from the Premiership.

I voted three noes.
Would love to see Smisa investigate away to allow all kids into the game free all the time.
I don't think any of the options listed are particularly inspiring but if they are approved by the majority I won't be going in the huff about it.

The option to carry over should be made more explicit - ie: there should be a vote button.
That way, it would be a constructive, conscious choice, as opposed to a default contingency in the event of other options being declined.
This might seem like a minor point, but I think folk are often inclined to want to vote positively for something, as opposed to dismissing all specifically presented options.

As your quote is of me, I shall respond.
You need a new telescope.
My 20-20 (or 2021, if you like) vision for St Mirren is that it should remain alive and be there for Paisley for future generations. That's still a huge aim, in itself.
I posted many a time against the rantings of the expired pipefitter... against his clarion call for Buy the Buds to be almost solely about it being a community club. It's not. It's a struggling professional football club, trying to survive in a fierce financial world.
so my immediate wish is for my contributions to directly be used to help in that struggle -NOW - not to be diverted towards a different organisation or club, however generous the intent may be
All the things you suggest in the rest of your post are highly laudable... But they are things that any/all Scottish football clubs should already be doing in and for the locality they inhabit. Much of it already happens.
saints do go into the community. There are young Saints teams.
None of that is innovative, fresh thinking - none of it adds long-term benefit specifically to the aim of buying the Buds and/or making the experience better for current Buds.

And what about the other youth teams that don't get chosen.. ?? doesn't quite sit well with me, the community means all the community

Think they will sit deep and play for a 0-0 that should suit us fine we have lots of players who can hit the net 2-0 saints

I've been disappointed in the "how to spend our money" side of SMiSA.
Last time we got to "vote" SMiSA had already decided where the money was going.
This time they're asking me to vote for spending money just for the sake of spending money.
The Season Ticket idea is a nice idea for giving under privileged people a day out at the football. No matter how much they enjoy the day out they are not going to become customers in the future.
The HoF option?I like the HoF boards but why spend £1500 on them when there is a cheaper option?
Youth Football? If you pick one team to sponsor you immediately alienate the rest of the clubs. As has been mentioned earlier, either sponsor a League or Cup and involve all the clubs.
And finally there is no option to save the money.
It's a No,No,No from me.

Folk are entitled to question the suggestions, but it might be more helpful if they could also come up with a few alternatives.
I'm happy enough to support the suggestions on the basis that folk have thought them through, and that, for the moment, I can't think of any better to put forward.
To be honest, I've always advocated that some of the money should be put to one side so we can grow a more substantial fund. This could either contribute to a more significant initiative, or serve as an emergency fund in the event that such a thing might ever be required.
