  1. Harsh. We should acknowledge the considerable debt we owe Tommy Craig. Haven't you realised that TC is largely responsible for our hugely enjoyable 2017-18 season and the optimism we will take with us into next season ? Before TC, Macpherson and Lennon offered St Mirren fans (at best) dull, boring fare. After TC, Murray and Rae were clueless and out of their depth. But for Craig's shitefulness during his horrendous spell as our manager, we would never have tumbled to the depths we did. TC was the man who initiated the catastrophic turmoil that eventually provided JR with the opportunity to achieve our phoenix-like resurrection. Thanks Tommy !!
  2. Presumably named in honour of three of Prince William's heroes, Messrs Walsh, Mullard and Hawtrey.
  3. Dundee Utd's average attendance being higher than ours is unsurprising, but a bit disappointing that we didn't surpass Dunfermline's. Also Falkirk, whose season was utter pish from start to finish, almost matched ours.
  4. Hmmm, Sunday night (council) tv viewing. I've just been watching Scotland's top quality teams on Sportscene on BBC Scotland. This is apparently a higher standard of opposition than we have been facing in the Championship this season. FFS, some of these SPL diddy teams in the bottom 6 are really grim !! Dundee are totally shite. Hamilton Accies, Ross County, Partick Thistle, and St Johnstone are probably worse (Is 'shiter' a word ?). Is that going to be us next season ?? Or can Jack Ross's St Mirren offer something better ? Are we going to be ambitious enough to impose ourselves in the first quarter of next season and build the foundations of something better ? PLEASE !!!
  5. Is he tall enough to match JR's stated profile for next season ?
  6. For most of the game our lot looked like a bunch of strangers that had never played in the same team before. Minimal ball passing, lots of ball hoofing. God knows how we were ahead after 83 minutes.
  7. Sitting in W2 I can't hear any of the 'atmosphere' being generated by the singing section / drummers. The noise just doesn't seem to travel down to the opposite end of the same stand. Not complaining mind you.
  8. Our beloved Tony firing off again. Don't you just love him !! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43784492
  9. Buffon has had an amazing career and is still a fantastic keeper at his considerable age (40 is he ?). What a huge pity that he made such a complete tit of himself on such a major stage. Soft penalty my arse ! Clearly a penalty, ref called it 100% correct.
  10. 173 minutes played without scoring a goal. Is that our longest goal drought this season ?
  11. Can you imagine it ........ ? The last seconds of stoppage time and every St Mirren player is up for a corner ................. A flying header from Samson bulges the net .......... Hello shull !!
  12. Good points. So essentially the proposal is so ill-considered and divisive that, regardless of the outcome of the vote, SMiSA's custodians will probably have created a lose / lose situation for themselves and their members.
  13. Maybe I should have paid more attention when I attended the meetings that were held when SMiSA was being proposed / set-up. Maybe I should have asked more than the 2 or 3 questions I did about how significant "independent" was in the name of the proposed organisation. My understanding at the time (presumably completely wrong in light of your post) was that the principal aim of SMiSA would be to assist the club in any way possible at a time when St Mirren were in deep doo-doo financially. The premise of SMiSA, as I understood at the time of its inception, was to raise finance from St Mirren fans to help to bail out the club during extremely difficult times (on and off the pitch) in exchange (hopefully) for (new issue) St Mirren shares which would give fans some influence with the Board and perhaps ultimately lead to a SMiSA member being offered a place on the Board. I hadn't realised at the time that total ownership was always to be the end-game. My bad obviously.
  14. Maybe SMISA needs a name change as well. The organisation's status as "Independent" from the club no longer seems appropriate IMO.
  15. The £2 is ring-fenced. No debate required IMO. That is all.
  16. Perhaps a misleading thread title, shull. The Falkirk Stadium isn't in Falkirk, it's in Grangemouth.
  17. All St Mirren fans attending on Tuesday night should be obliged to bring along a pipe and slippers.
  18. Might be old news to you Gary. I wasn't aware. Sad news IMO.
  19. Ricky, I love your optimism. Too may supporters - what a wonderful problem to have !! I hope you are enjoying this season because next season (assuming promotion) won't be quite so much fun. If (surely) we do achieve promoted, we will begin next season as one of the teams with the tiniest budgets (as usual), we may perhaps have lost our title-winning and highly-regarded young manager to a bigger club as well as Morgan (and maybe a few others), we are likely to struggle to accumulate points (as usual), and our home attendances will decrease as the euphoria of promotion diminishes and defeat-fatigue takes its toll (unfortunately, as usual). Next season will begin with a groundswell of optimism from our support (myself included) but history has a habit of repeating itself. Since the 1970s / 1980s glory days of Fergie / Clunie / McFarlane we haven't proved capable of reaching the top division and then kicking on to further (league) success. I would love it to be otherwise but realistically can you see the "gloryhunter" element of our support sticking around if/when the defeats start to accumulate ? St Mirren will have to punch hugely above our weight next season to avoid being involved in a relegation dogfight. Ever optimistic, here's hoping !!
