I just want to thank Tommy for all his work with the St.Mirren team. I think we should think back to when he first came in and the excellent brand of football he played after danny had almost relegated us in his first season. Regardless of what you say Danny was finished at St.Mirren and Tommy made the step up. It did not work out as planned but some of the celebrating on here makes me sad. A man who for all his failings tried to win games and has lost his job. He loved coaching and being out on the park. Ok it wasnt to be but I for one wish to thank Tommy for all his efforts. .

Need to give credit to the board here. Even though they want out they've yet again dug into their own pockets, and they've paid him off.

There were 60 applicants for the Motherwell job.
Given our superb setup at the club I really don't think we would be short of applicants. The training facility and the still "new" stadium facilities would be very appealing to most managers.
I reckon in "normal" circumstances that Tommy would be gone by now. I can't help but feel the club is very close to being sold and that can be the only reason for a lack of action in that department.
Either way he will be gone before Christmas I reckon.

Been thinking about this, and really our league position does not befit our performances this season - we have not had our just rewards. I've done a bit of analysis.
We got our first three points against Partick Thistle courtesy of a dodgy penalty award with the last kick of the ball. Then another point after another last minute dubious penalty against Aberdeen when really we should have been about 5 down by then.
Add to that another 3 points against St Johnstone when they had two perfectly good goals ruled out, followed by a point at home against the brilliant Ross County, when they had another perfectly good goal chalked off for offside which would have put them 2-0 up.
Who says Scottish refs are bastards? We have been jammy feckers this season and should think ourselves damned lucky to have any points at all...

Doubt it.
I wouldn't be surprised if there's laughing in the streets of Raith right now!

As a club we do not too badly. We spend a fraction of what sevco /rangers spend and have produced far better player's than they in the last 5 years or so through the youth ranks.

So lets think about the positives
Scottish cup is possible
Lets aim for our best ever finish in this league and equal what we did last year on a smaller budget and focus on finishing 8th
if we beat PTFC and the fakes lose then we are only 2pts from 8th and move further away from 12th and 11th assuming county and Motherwell both lose (and they will)
Up pops the international break giving our injured players more time to recover and head into the winter games with a full squad(minus goody who might get banned)
Nov 22nd fixtures have the bottom 3 all away from home but hey we can beat Hamilton or take a draw
If we all just focus on the positives and realise that we wont be going further than 8th then lets focus on that then

After reading this, I thought I'd do the maths, using the starting 11's of all 12 SPFL teams this weekend to work out the average age. Here's the table:

There you go. We are the youngest team in the league, and by a bit of a distance too. The club and management deserve credit for that, especially given so many of these young players are graduates from our academy. The teams on either side of us in the league - Well and St Johnstone - have over 6 years experience on us on average.
Our young players have been thrown into the deep end given our injuries, and I think they're doing okay all things considered. Especially given how bad a start we had in losing first 5 games. To turn that around and get us out of and then clear of the bottom 2 by the 11th game is pretty impressive stuff. Here's hoping the experience they're gaining stands us in good stead for the rest of the campaign, we continue to improve and we keep moving up the league.

Yeah when it was the Bar Point it was a Saints pub.
Now been taken over by a Celtic fan, and a Celtic bus is run from it.
We moved our pre match custom from there to Tartan Rose when the change happened.

Old Argylle was a great wee pub, hasn't been the same since it reopened though.
Still has some Saints stuff on the wall, but where's the soul gone?
Most pubs in Paisley are friendly to Sainta fans. I like the Tartan Rose at the minute, a whisky and a third of a pint for £2.25!

Well he is our top scorer, and if he doesn't get in to the back post we don't score.
He also set it up on a plate for McLean early in the second half.
Worked all game in both directions, never stopped running.

When you think of the press creaming themselves over teams being set up to play the 3 central defenders with 2 wing backs system today he was a visionary. What a wonderful season he gave us (although best to forget about the Prem year).

Cup winning hero. One of only 4 captains in the clubs history to lift a major title. Also a really nice guy to boot.
He was immense at the end of last season and played a big part in turning our season around. He wrote off the naysayers them, and he will again this season.
