Jason Naismith , looks an outstanding prospect . Wouldn,,t be surprised if there was interest.
-
Newcastle probably have the money , time and coaching to develop Meatball , and would probably make money from the deal . Hopefully the money we make from the deal , will help keep us up this season.
-
Last season , if we went a goal down , Goody , Gowser or the Hawk , would rally the troops , and encourage some sort of fightback , last night those leadership qualities were non existent .
-
At the start of every season I hope Cheesy has been coached to do the simple things , and cut out the basic mistakes , and eventually be the defender we would all like him to be . Looks like its the same old Cheesy

Motherwell V St Mirren Spfl Premiership 9/8/13
Griff replied to shull's topic in Matchday & Travel Club
Goodwin plays in an area of the park where its the players remit to try and dominate the area , and all sorts of scrapping goes on. But a media campaign has had the focus on the tricks Goody gets up to , but not his opening , who seem to get away with winding him up. Goodie didn,t have to make the first tackle for wjhich he got booked for , but in both instances , the Motherwell players milked the situation . If I were managing Goodie I would first of all go to the media , and suggest that several players in other teams get away with a lot more than him , that he is fouled against more often than he is fouled , and certain players are cheating to get him sent off , and the media seem to turn a blind eyes to this. I would also suggest that Goodie , starts to take a few rolls and do a bit of amatuar dramatics himself , -
Looking like we could have Naismith , Kelly , Cheesy , Tess , Goodie , Plumber and Evans providing cover for the back four and the holding midfield position , quite a bit of versatility there , but a big experienced centre half would put us in a really good place for next season
-
Still think we might get someone from Newcastle , the Newcastle boys , normally come after a couple of weeks training at their own club
-
I actually enjoyed watching him in his first couple of seasons , he was also excellent during our promotional season. I wonder how good a player he would have been , if he had been picked up at an earlier age , and been coached , had access to dieticians , and fitness specialists . He had something , that made him awkward to play against , was exceptional in the air , and had a wee bit of skill . Loved watching him partner Basher
-
love the way the squad is shaping up , are we going for a 2-3 - 5 formation
-
Lets wait and see , he actually might like the set up in Paisley , and the group of lads he,ll be training with on a daily basis , he will also probably be confident of either starting or being on the bench on a regular basis , and he has the offer on the table , might make sense for him to sign a one year contract and see where it goes.
-
Seems quite a young squad we are putting together , and there seems to be quite good banter between them on twitter , which might be quite a good thing when trying to attract younger players to the club , who might chose us ahead of other clubs because they will be involved in the first team squad on a daily basis . Quite liking the squad we are putting together , and hopefully when the squad is complete , there will be sufficient cover for all positions , and we will have a few different options if plan A isn,t working. bring on the new season hoping some of this speculation regarding new signings comes to fruition.

Whitley Bay Vs Saints - Mon 28Th July 7.30
Griff replied to Murray7's topic in Matchday & Travel Club
heading to Newcastle for a stag party next weekend , is Whitley Bay still good for an afternoons entertainment -
Wondering if Ball could play centre half .
-
I think Tess will prove to be a good signing , and maybe might do well playing as a sweeper and I think he would be very good at bringing the ball out of befence . I also think over the course of the season he might end up playing in about four different positions . With regards to Wylde , I think he will be exceptional this season , not just as a winger , but also as up front just behind Thhommo or in a central attacking midfield role . Whatever happens this season , I think it is our intention to be a good footballing side.
-
I would like us to sign an experienced centre half , who can take control of things at the back and organise a back four , we may have to search the lower leagues in England for this type of player , would also like an experienced hard working midfielder and a striker , and I think we might just about be able to put a decent team out , probably need another five signings to have a squad that will see us through to the end of the year.
-
Really liked Gowser a player , thinking his best position is up front in a six a side team . Loved Gowser as a player , but there were times when he took too many touches and the move slowed down . Looking forward to seeing the new faces , but still thinking we need a few more signings
-
It makes so much sense for Reilly to go on loan and get regular games , maybe a loan to a Championship club , for half a season would be ideal
-
totally agree Norrie , you missed mair , caprice and cornell from the list , which in my opinion says we need at least 6 new signings to add to the three we have made to date , not too unhappy with the signings made , or with us bringing in players on loan , but I would like to see a few more signings

Harkins Contract Terminated By Mutual Consent
Griff replied to Mainstand Sweary Mob's topic in General St. Mirren Discussion
Releasing Harkins and McGowan , has probably enabled us to offer McLean a better wage and keep him , and bring in James Marwood and Ellis Plummer , only at the end of the season will we be able to decide whether it was good business or not . And to me its more about how well the new signings do for us , than how well Harkins or McGowan do at Dundee -
Alternate Strip Suggestions!
Griff replied to south_seas_saint's topic in General St. Mirren Discussion
Excellent thread , great way to find out what kind of strip fans would want to buy , quite fancy few here -
The way I see things , these guys wouldn,t have signed if they thought St Mirren would struggle this season. They must have confidence in the existing group of players in the squad , and the youngsters coming through , and maybe be aware of the calibre of signings which we are trying to make. Looking forward to seeing the new squad take shape.

Alternate Strip Suggestions!
Griff replied to south_seas_saint's topic in General St. Mirren Discussion
Wonder why we don,t try a red and white striped shirt as an away strip . Perhaps with black shorts -
Naismith was pretty average at Morton , yet came back to do a good job with us , I suspect he was quite young when he played for Oldham , and playng against some pretty experienced strikers , looking forward to watching him develop into a top centre half
-
when were we last linked with a player ? Who was the last player the press said we were interested in ? Probably Ryan Stevenson and Liam Craig . So little seems to be happening . Hopefully this week , we may get a signing , or maybe even linked with a player or two
-
I would love to se a team with Greg Wilde on one wing , amd Nigel on the other wing , with the Hawk and and another striker playing in between them. With the wingers having e option to change wings when it suits them
