BIG BEN reacted to Saint Garf in Top 5 Games To Relive
The Semi-final against Hearts was a brilliant game, Billy's goal was a beauty!

Most of the Matches mentioned I have great memories of.
Just like to add the 1-0 victory v Falkirk in the Millennium Season.
McKnight with the exhilarating winner.
One of many magnificent days following St Mirren.

I don't think anyone has mentioned the 1-0 cup semi win against Hearts at Fir Park. That certainly sticks in my mind.
I have a shite memory, so most of the matches I remember most vividly have been in the period of the last 20 years or so.
The league clinching win against Raith was fantastic after a nervy first half. I agree on the 2-0 win at Falkirk being one of our best performances in my time as a St Mirren supporter (perhaps the best away support I can recall, too). The Great Escape for the swing in emotions and everything else about that game. Also the cup semi against Celtic was tremendous.

tam went on the northend bus
he loved to sing, but caused no fuss !
tam would let out a almighty roar
when the saints went on to score
tam liked a drink ,like us all
he made sure everyone had a ball

Baird is young, and has bags of potential. I agree that he didn't have a great season, but lets be fair here, did Webster?

Welcome to Football SMISA, same thing happened at least twice with 10000hours...important thing is to have a point man to answer any media and not to have to go round the committee doors preparing a rebuttal where one is needed...so far so good -
BIG BEN reacted to King Kenny in Tam Mcgarry
Like many on here, I only knew Tam to say hello to. When I was in my teens I started using the North End bus. As the years rolled on I got to know the guys more and more. Tam and Ian at the centre.
Tam was infectious, you couldn't help but laugh when he stoated on the bus, 3 minutes late with his paper, juice and sweets, getting pelters from the rest.
He was a rare breed, home and away without fail. Watching his son pull on the black and white jersey is what every father dreams of. We've lost a leader. Still can't get my head around the news. So so sad
RIP Buddie

Came very close to putting that into my list. We were excellent that day, under immense pressure.

St Mirren 3-2 Celtic – Cup semi-final, left a weekend in Newcastle with my pals early to get an early train home very tired and hungover with a knee in agony 2 weeks after dislocating it. Everyone wrote us off, my (non St Mirren supporting) pals thought I was mad but it was all worth it.
St Mirren 4-0 Celtic – Decided against going to this one after the that cup final against Rangers the weekend before, listened on the radio with my Dad and couldn’t believe what we were hearing. Gutted I wasn’t there.
Ayr 1-2 St Mirren – 99/00 season I was 9 and was the first year I went to the majority of games, we all thought we’d won the league went that goal went in as we wrongly thought Dunfermline were losing. Don’t think I appreciated how special that season was at the time, 16 seasons on I do now.
Motherwell 2-3 St Mirren – Another one I missed, was working in a shop at the time and couldn’t get the day off. Hiding in the warehouse listening to open all mics I thought it was all over at HT, think I gave the customers a fright when the 3rd went in and a massive shout came from the warehouse.
Raith Rovers 1-2 St Mirren – Fell about 5 rows down when the winner went in.

Judging by some of his comments this morning, though, I suspect Tony had been on the bong again.

1. Saints 4 Dundee Utd 1
2. Dundee 0 Saints 4 [to win the league]
3. St Mirren 4 Celtic 2 {what a goal by Scanlon]
4. Hearts 0 Saints 1 {Paul Chalmers late goal saved us from relegation].
5. Bolton 2 Saints 1 [last minute Jimmy Bone goal puts us thru on away goals, cue the maddest celebrations ever, the Bolton fans never took it very well :-)

BIG BEN reacted to nosferatu in Top 5 Friendlies To Relive
My favourite was against Caledonian at Telford Street (before they merged with Inverness Thistle and moved ground).
Jimmy Bone was manager back then and Barry McLaughlin was playing as a striker pre season and scoring a few goals.
As Caley were non league there was no restriction on alcohol being brought into the ground and it was a hot summer's day...
You can just imagine...
Anyway, we were 2-0 down and I think McLaughlin scored twice late on to get us a draw.
The best bit was when a Caley striker was clean through on goal and a Saints fan in the crowd blew a whistle.
The striker stopped in his tracks and the Saints defence got back to clear!
Kenny McDowall, by then a coach, was despatched to go round to find the culprit and confiscate said whistle...

I'm really sorry for your loss, Ian.
A noble and classy final gesture from Tam as well, I always feel it's the least one can do to give others a chance at life as a lasting and meaningful legacy.
Like the sadly missed Toshie and Kilted bud, everyone knew Tam even if it was only to exchange pleasantries or in passing. One of those guys at the fitba who was just a really good character.

Absolutely shocked this morning when I heard the sad news. Around this time last year we were all down in Sheffield for the pre season game V SMFC. As usual Tam and Brownie were the life and soul of the party. Thoughts are with his wife and family and of course his son Steven a Saints league winning legend. RIP TAM. St.mirren park will never be the same without you bud.

Thoughts with the whole family.

BIG BEN reacted to St. Sid in Ralston Resident's Action Group Against St. Mirren
Probably worthy of its own thread; however I see that cuntcillor sharkey has been showing his true colours by behaving in an aggresive and abusive manner following his fellow cuntcillors pointing and laughing at his as he carried on his bizarre campaign against St Mirren football club and the gentlefolk of Paisley. He has effectively been told to stop being a fanny by his own party. :

Now that we have successfully bought our club let's keep the feel-good factor going with your best 5 Saints games/days
Mine in no particular order. No cup finals allowed.
1. Savia Prague 3-0 - European nights under the Love St lights with big crowds were amazing
2. Ayr Utd away 1-2. Late, late, late, drama in the best ever season for me
3. Well away. 2-3 All was lost until the best substitutions ever. We were hanging out every window and sunroof at the lights at Rutherglen singing( stopping off a young buddie who missed his train)we are staying up much to the bemusement of the Celtic fans outside the pub there.
4. Saints 4 - Celtic 2. 2 nil down after 20 mins before being 3-2 up at ht. Scanlon scored a thunderbastard late on from 40-45 yrs to seal it
5. Celtic 0 - Saints 3 Correct score at 80/1 on the coupon. The first goal was scored by Guni............

My initial thoughts that it would take till the final 48 hours before the 1000 sign-ups were achieved looks set to be proved correct - I always felt that extrapolating from the daily sign-ups at what were always likely to be fallow spells was unduly negative.
Congratulations in advance to those who have put in so much hard work.
