I voted ewen my motm purely for his golden boot but on reflection it should have went to big fraser for his comedy performance in "skinning 3 people, rounding the keeper, missing the shot and tripping over his own feet" it was a sight to behold

It would be a shame for the league if they went out of it BUT all teams should play fair, living within their means or be prepared to suffer the consequences. Tough titty

Enjoyed the game and think the games will get better as everyone gets to know each other and we find team numbers that best suit the pitch size. Delighted with my showing between the sticks. All helped by a woeful attempt at a penalty from Div. Stick to goalkeeping as you are no Rickie Lambert.;-)

For me Carey is a player who needs to play week in week out in order to get the best from him.
He was outstanding against Celtic in the semi final, then he played on the Weds night win against ICT, our first in about a million years and then the comfortable win over St.Johnstone in the Scottish Cup, another team who we never normally beat.
Dropped for the next game away at Aberdeen (along with DVZ) and the winning run comes to an end as the goals dry up.
Then start our bonkers run of team selections in the lead up to the final.
Carey on the left and Teale on the right is a formidable combination
Add in his dead ball ability which is second to none and the fact he can fill in at left back and you have to wonder why he didn't play more often and why he is being allowed to go.
Very disappointing IMHO.

We need to come with some better rules for when the ball gets trapped at the side of the goals/in the corner, quite a few cheeky non-bib goals scored that way ;)

Love that! Set the emotions going all over again. And going back to the point Drew made in his earlier post, it is incredible the goodwill that is coming my way from supporters of a whole range of teams in the small Trossachs town where I currently reside. I can only think of one other Bud who stays here so people do get to know you, I talk up the team all the time and make sure I am wearing the stripes when I am playing 5 a sides (very badly). People up here in the main seem to be genuinely delighted that we have won the cup, and most OF fans have been pretty gracious about it-though one Sevco fan couldn't resist adding "It was only Hearts". Guess old habits die hard. Cards on table due to family commitments I don't get down to Paisley as often as I'd like but we are all ambassadors for this club wherever we are and there have been occasions in the past where being a fan of the mighty Buds has earned me derision and some good natured piss taking. But this is payback time, and like many on here I feel Sunday proved the truth of that old phrase "Paisley is St Mirren and St Mirren is Paisley". And Danny Lennon by the way deserves every moment of this-anybody who doubted how much this club means to him must have come to their senses on Sunday. The moment after the 3rd goal just taking in the supporters and the dedicating of the trophy to the massed ranks of Saints fans showed how much class the guy has. And it IS more than a football club, taking it all in on Sunday i thought back to my late mum and dad and memories of Paisley and of course '87. Just a magic time to be a Buddie and long may this feelgood factor continue-though as we're from Paisley it won't last too long I reckon!

Love that shot as well. The press seem to forget that Cheesy is a buddie as well. A thoroughly fantastic day which still feels as if it's still going on. Seem to have something in my eye at the moment

A simply wonderful wee video. Got me filling up again. I got a great reception when I got back to Bangor. A nice wee round of applause in the club, guys shaking my hand and clapping me on the back. You would have thought I had been playing. In Main Street last night a few young lads from the pool team in our club saw me from the other side of the street and started chanting 'St.Mirren!' The win has confirmed what some of us veteran Saints fans have been saying for donkeys years. The moments of sheer, unadulterated joy do make up for the years of heartache. It's great to be a Buddie.

Is it just me, or does anyone else watch the footage of the Newton strike in slow motion shot from behind, and think 'this time it will swerve outside the post and miss'?
Just as he hits it... it cannot go that straight, it cannot arrow just inside the post like a bullet - can it? One day, it will miss, it will finish 2-2, and we'll lose on pens.

Made the trip from Canada with two of my boys (photos in the PDE). I was also home for the 87 final but for some reason the buzz around this final was may more than the 87. The team was great, the crowd was great and it was great to expose my boys to the team they call the buddies and to understand why we love them so much.
Win the cup, back to Paisley for the parade, couple of pints and a curry to finish off the night and then it was back on the plane to Toronto first thing Monday morning.
Priceless.

The forum has been fantastic this week. Everyone oozing with excitement, positivity and togetherness.
It's been absolutely superb.
We can't get to a cup final every week, or even every season, and of course we have no divine right to win the cup on Sunday either, but it would be great if the place retained a wee bit of this unity after the final whistle has blown, whatever the result.
We are stronger when we are all together supporting our fantastic football club.

Fantastic day yesterday. Being firstly a Newcastle fan, where everything that could possibly go wrong, has gone wrong of late, yesterday was the 1st time since pre xmas i've enjoyed football. I must admit that i thought it was a case of just going through the motions of a Celtic win yesterday, but it was a Hampden semi and i felt i should travel up. Thank god i did. Fairytale stuff.
Had a pre match pint in the "Crystal Palace" in Glasgow and overheard a typically arrogant Cetic fan telling over the phone how he'd offered someone a semi ticket, it was refused and on those grounds he wouldn't be offering a ticket for the final. I don't think he'll be dealing with any final tickets now somehow. He had the same attitude as his team in that surely they just had to turn up.
Onto the game via one of the worst train journeys of my life, to Mount Florida surrounded by an odious bunch of Celtic fans singing "ooh ah, up the RA" and openly snorting coke in front of young kids. So pleased we won for that lot.
A shock early goal, but an eternity to go. An equaliser, and my consoling thoughts of at least we'll go down fighting. Then it seemed like waiting for the inevitable Celtic turnaround, certainly when they got the pen. Saved! We score ours but the clock looks like it's stopped. An unbelievable 3rd!! Still enough time left to blow it. Eventually time was blown. And relax. Bursting with pride at the David v Goliath outcome.
I mentioned in a previous thread about a long run of going without me seeing a Saints win. We beat Brechin. Felt like it didn't count due to lower league opponents. Went to Tannadice for a victory v real life SPL opponents, and now a semi final win at Hampden v conquerers of Barcelona. Oh how fortune in football can change.
My mate took his son to his first Scottish game yesterday. What a debut. Was easily my daughters best game of her short, saints following life and up there with the best i've witnessed.
Went back to "Clockwork" for a small Stella-bration post match. just caught the 7pm train to Edinburgh to connect with 8pm back to Newcastle. Unfortunately boarded a "Virgin train" instead of the"Eastcoast" one we'd booked. A costly error as it meant the 2 adults in our party paying an extra £73 each. Ouch! Know what though, after a day like that it was worth every penny and in the circumstances, even that couldn't spoil it.
Unfortunately i'll miss the final as it clashes with a toon game but COYS.
