dave.j reacted to Stuart Dickson in 10000Hours Bid Is Rejected
I agree Drew. Why else would they reject a bid from a movement that is financially backed by around 33% of its customer base? We can all agree that REA and 10000hours have had their failings but at the essence of this bid was a commitment shown by a large proportion of fans towards the 10000hours model of member ownership. Now the selling consortium are telling 33% of it's customer base that they were all wrong and that only those in the selling consortium know what is best for the club.
This is without doubt about money. £1.25m is a lot less than the £2m they were hoping for. Just think all those dreams of month long trips to Vegas suddenly being reduced to month long trips to Scarborough and the puggy machines along the coast.

A lot of factors probably played a part in this:
    Game live on Alba.
    Game on a Sunday.
Game on the day after an international.
Game was a Challenge Cup match.
As it was a cup game, u16's had to pay to get in, instead of the usual free entry.
All in raith brought a shockingly bad away support, lucky if it was 150 considering they too have had a good start.
Thistle fans still talk down the challenge cup, which i totally disagree with, calling any competition a micky mouse cup reeks of Old Firm attitude. Plus the fact we have never made the final, never mind win it. I would love us to win it.
Alba's coverage was first class, irrespective of the gaelic and Billy Brown. their half time features were worthwhile viewing.
Sunday transport probably had an effect, also the fact everyone would have watched or attended the Scotland game, gave folk the easy option of just watching it on the TV.
The jags behind the goal (singing section) was again at the 200 mark, a constant level all season, which is a positive to take as it was only introduced at the start of this season. if we aren't seeing a drop, regardless of the opposition, then numbers will only go up. a great start considering we aimed to get 50 in and work up from there.
We aim to break even every year, budgets are built on a home gate of 2500 per game in the league, any cup income is a bonus.
On a plus side, a crowd of under 16's turned up looking to get in for free with their "free season tickets" and turned back when they got to the gate and realised they had to pay in... Luckily the associate director who heads up OneThistle spotted them and ushered them in the Police gate for free... as he said to the police, if you recognise them as local trouble makers... id rather have them in here causing trouble, where you can watch them, than up on the canal where anything could happen... the police moaned at him letting them in for free, so he said.... if you are going to make an issue of this, i'll pay for them myself.

First time i've seen him in the Jags colours, on Saturday, and have to say he was outstanding. You know that way, when you watch someone and they are just night n day above everyone else on the park?
Everything went through him, he was always available for a pass and kept it simple, putting in some great tackles.
Exactly what we have been missing, if you imagine how Lambert played for Celtic, this is what he was doing for us.
and to add to it all, i was outside the Star n Garter around 6pm having a fag, the big man drove past in a silver VW Golf with a couple of other players, window down, tootin the horn, punching the air with a big grin on his face.

apparently the wee guy beside him moaned that shug put in a tough challenge out on the touchline against one of the falkirk players, you know the one, nothing happenning, boy shielding the ball, trying to win falkirk a through in and shug put him on the deck...
my dad said... Alec, there's nothing wrong wi giving him a wee kick, he's just letting him know he's still there and he's not going to give him a minute, when was the last time we had that?
by the end of the game, my dad kept nudging him in the ribs, saying.... so, are ye still missing Paul Cairney, the boy Murrays no bad eh?

    I don't think it's nasty at all.
If you think it's nasty then maybe fan ownership isn't for you in any shape or form.
Wait til elections start and people are on here trying to garner votes. Then wait til the elected body don't do what you want them to do.
    Then you will see nasty.
But as the saying goes. Only you can change it. Only you can make the club how you want it. And you do that by standing for election, and if elected. Standing by your manifesto.

The fact remains, SG has 3 bids on the table. How long has he been trying to sell his shares?
He would be a mug not to sell now.
The fact is, one of those bids will see the paying punters at the gate taking control of the club.
Only one offer allows the fans to influence the course the club will take.
You have a choice, pay 10 pounds per month and st mirren will truly be your club, you can decide its destiny.
Does that scare you? It would scare me! But it's bloody exciting!
For so long the cries have been that clubs need to listen to fans, read this poll, read that poll. This is how we feel. they are only interested in their blazer and club tie.
You can change all that, you can be that voice, you can vote on who represents the fans in the boardroom. You could be in the boardroom in 6 months.
It may be a difficult decision. Life changing for the club. But this could be the closest you come to it. Don't fall at the final hurdle!

just asking as i picked up (maybe wrongly) you think that being a CIC member will not give you any more influence in the boardroom than you already have.
however, if you have an insignificant shareholding at present, then joining the CIC will greatly increase your influence in the boardroom.
being a member of the cic will give you the opportunity to be elected to the Club board, an option, again that you don't have as a minority shareholder.

    what junior board?
the 4 folk on the board just now are there to steer the CIC upto and through the elections. spaces are available. upto another 11, i believe. to be filled by CIC members.
Those running for election will be subject to the members. the membership will vote and the membership will decide who takes up these places.
any Junior board as you call it, will only be required if the elected main board decide that a sub board is required, based on a project they may work on... the sub board will be made up of CIC members, probably with skill sets or an interest in helping.
