I think that now we have all our signings in,and most should be at a decent level of fitness, we should see more consistency in team selection. Hladky, Popescu and Musek are all certain starters due to their performances so far. I wouldn't bet against the new right back making that slot his own as well sooner rather than later, giving us decent defence. Up front I would expect Nazon and Jackson to start most games, with Nazon preferred over Jackson.
Midfield is the area that still provides most problems. Many were pleased with Tansey's signing, and most of those have now written him off completely. He is still a good player, and could still offer something, but we need the likes of McPherson, Lyons and Erhahon to give us energy in the midfield, with the likes of Dreyer and McAllister providing creativity.
I'm not writing us off yet. I'm aware that this patience will be alien to some on this thread, but I've been over this course before and would rather have hope than resignation to see me through.

I don't believe in calling for a manager to be sacked. That's a decision for the board. Football is a harsh business. Results count but I can think of several instances where patience paid off. One was here at Saints when we showed patience with Ross. Another, more impressively involved another ex manager of ours - Sir Alex at Man U.
Man up guys and support the club
And the manager until such times that they are not - as decided by the board.
By all means show your opinion at games as the crowd did at half time today. But turn up.

Hladky is on an 18 month deal, while Popescu is on loan til the end of the season with a view to a permanent move. Lyons just signed for Blackburn, so I would imagine any permanent deal is out of the question on that one. The Romanian left back is on loan in a similar deal to Propescu I believe, while Muzek is out of contract in the summer, so would be available to sign permanently if we choose.

Hladky and Popescu look already up to speed. I expect the likes of Lyons, Dreyer and Tansey to be not far behind, with the Duck and the new full backs getting there also.

I hope we win and keep the cup run going. If nothing else it gives the fans something else to cheer about, and it also means more games which can help the team to gel, and also provide a wee confidence boost.

All fair and reasonable. It is good to have a reasonable discussion on here and we can see how it pans out later also.
Strangely enough teams in relegation battles at times do well in cups. Don't know if it is relief playing a one-off match where it is a chance to take our minds off the pressures of the League or something else. So expecting a win is positive - I hope the team think that way too, but without being gung-ho caught up the park trying to make it happen and failing to defend properly.
My gut is we will draw after 90 minutes and that would mean a replay - but I am hoping we score the winner very late on, only IF we don't win by more than one goal.

Paul McGinn has already in his career played right back, left back, centre back and right midfield - he would have no problem playing in the middle. He's a competitive player with the energy and stamina his brother lacks at the moment. Lyons is an attacking player, and is not defensively minded, evidenced by the way he failed to track the run for their winner. Much better in attacking areas.
Erhahon has already coped with being thrown in against Rangers out of position - he would have no problem going into his natural position and providing a more physical and energetic option in midfield. Tansey can pick up time off the bench - I would have no problem with him starting, but it seems he has already been singled out by a section of the support without much to back up their ire.
Agree re keeping some attacking threats on the bench - Mullen and Lyons for me, with Cooke hopefully back soon.
I'm expecting an improvement again on Saturday from the likes of Dreyer, McAllister and Lyons in attacking areas, with a wee bit more sharpness and movement from the Duck. More than anything, I am expecting us to win.

"Stubbs' players or not" - the fact that all bar one are no longer currently at the club, it suggests that Stubbs' signings were horrific. It's a very poor record, but for me he is properly judged from here on in, with his own team in place, and it seems there are a few of them who could turn out to be very good signings.

So definitely big mistake setting up with 3 CB's and a "back 5" no question.
Looking at the goals - Hastie ran away from Muzek, Lyons and Ferdinand turned his back as he let rip - 3 of ours did not close him down - it was not  like we did not know in advance that he was a real threat!
Their 2nd - caught on the break, McGinn too easy to run past, and who was marking Campbell - Aye no one - free header 6 yards out....

For us - Jackson laid on a peach for Dreyer - at least his shot was on target but not clinical enough - He then ran past 2 Well defenders and laid it on for McAllister (Who skyed it into the crowd)  -   His cross for McGinns goal was very good too though.  Once he gets a goal, his confidence will rise.
Personally I hope Corbu is a really solid and fast RB - we need to learn to think more defensively in the middle of the park too and we need to get up to speed in the next few weeks and beat Livingstone. A few goals and some clean sheets and things will turn around !!!

I'd bring Paul McGinn into centre mid alongside Erhahon. The captain is toiling, fitness wise and Tansey is also lacking match fitness. The two I've suggested would provide energy and bite in the midfield, leaving the two new full backs to get up and down the flanks. Stick with the front two from last night and give them a chance to develop an understanding, while giving the Duck more minutes, while I'd go with McAllister and Dreyer in the wide positions, leaving Lyons and Mullen as impacy subs.

So Shull what lies behind all these aliases - you hound people with your rubbish and then when you go to the Sin Bin you begin to ramp up the same attacks under another name?

We should go with continuity rather than listen to idiots suggesting we get rid of another manager who has made a huge number of his own signings. Listening to clowns like you we'd be in debt again very quickly.
Get behind the team and the manager, and try to grow some balls.
