So, just to be clear.  My post of solidarity with big Iain which had the intention of showing that verbal and intellectual bullying, which was being aimed at Iain by a range of people at the time, was every bit as bad as physical bullying was a threat on your good self?  You could only make that connection by admitting that you were one of the bullies involved.
And by intentionally misinterpreting the whole conversation.
to use your own command of the language to belittle someone who is not so fortunate is an abhorrent trait and you don't need to take my word for it, just ask around any women's refuge or ask a child taunted to distraction by bullies.  You dish out that kind of crap then you leave yourself open to whatever reaction the other person offers.
Violence is never the answer, whether physical, emotional, verbal or supposedly intellectual.  You weren't threatened, you were outed as bully

well I have discovered in Lockdown that there things that i will miss in life much more than a fitba forum.
this has been a source of amusement and occasional enlightenment for me over the years, but it's no longer worth the pay-off that the points scoring, attempts to conjure up bad feeling and the playground insults demand.  I've never used this forum less than I have since February.
So long BAWA- I'll remember you as you once were and not for what you ultimately became

4 years ago, in preparation for a flu epidemic- both UK and Scottish Governments did a study independently.

    Both highlighted insufficient PPE supplies!

Four years to take action... Nothing.

    I call that criminal neglect!

Loathsome people, it's their professional and moral duty to say "I'm having no more to do with all this pish" and walking away very publicly  But they won't, they value their short-lived position too much and are clearly shit-scared of him

My job in the private sector has direct comparisons with similar positions in the councils sector.  I'd expect a pay drop of around £15000 per year if I had to jump over to a council job.  Remember the struggle that female council workers had for pay parity.  Police officers, with a much lower bar to clear for entry, have a higher starting wage than council-employed teachers.
In general, council workers don't get paid very well compared to their counterparts in the public sector, they do have better pensions and used to have better job security.

FT today has the mortality total as 41000+
a disease that killed zero persons last year has killed 41000 in this country in a few weeks-but don't over react!

The plan for next season that I would really like to see is Kibble’s
thunking they had bought a share of a football club they could well have just bought a liability
has the sale of the shares gone through yet?  If not, how likely is it that it will be completed?
or if they are committed and saints are one of a slew of clubs to go under, how will they act?

    remember the old joke
a lady goes on holiday with friends and calls her husband to check on things
    "..and how is the cat?"
Sorry hen, the cat is dead"
"you cruel bastard, couldn't you have broken it a bit more gently and kept it going until I got home?"
    "how could i do that?"
"you could have said she was on the roof and won't come down, then said she won't take any food and then told me she died when I got home-that would have softened the blow.
"Sorry love, I'll bear that in mind if anything horrible like that happens again"
"Ok,  So how is my Mum?"
"it's a bit weird, she went up on the roof yesterday and won't come down..."
Metaphorically speaking, the media are currently telling us that Boris is off his food, has gone up on the roof and won't come down

I have a nurse in the family, not an A&E one admittedly, and they are hoping that one good thing to come out of this is that the public will take a more responsible attitude to A&E once we start to return to normal.
I was lucky enough to get my knee replacement in the last week of February and attend my GP surgery to collect sick notes,  it was always very busy with pretty much the same old faces when I went for my follow ups and physio immediately after the op but it's currently closed to the public and everything is being handled remotely.  It does make me wonder if a more efficient way of running GP medicine could result from this

While people debate as to  whether the lockdown and associated measures are justified, they should consider the effects of the more severe form of the disease on those who survive it.
Being intubated from a ventilator is likely to cause some damage to your airways, the cost of supporting someone in an ICU is extremely high and has a massive effect on the staff involved. The damage that the effects of Covid is capable of doing to the lungs is substantial and can potentially affect life expectancy and quality of life in a substantial way.
There are more reasons to react to this virus than the immediate mortality rate.

I don't have any problem with people highlighting the fact that we have a reactionary right-wing government who have gone over the top in terms of the measures that have been introduced.  The fact that Boris thinks this way but is still to weak to go all out on the enforcement is also worrying as we might lose him and get someone like Govebels replacing him.
What I do have a problem is that certain people are purporting this virus to be of no more importance than seasonal flu.  i'll take the word of front line medical staff at the end of their tether when faced with the death and suffering they need to deal with over that of an online goofball messing around stats and selected quotations
