aldo_j
Not sure you can call it a weak arguement, BtB. If fans at all the clubs he's played with previously say he's not very good then it's reasonable to assume that he's, well, not very good. I don't know that for a fact though, but I don't recall many glowing references post his knee injuries.

FTOF
I see the forum has thrown up a plethora of footballing experts who are able to judge accurately the abilities of Mr Brian McLean without seeing him play. Seriously? McLean played against us for Ross County several times and was f**king woeful. Don't think you have to be an expert to notice that. I used to rub my hands with glee when he played against us. There's a good reason why he still hasn't got a club. However, our manager might just be incompetent enough to waste money on him. Here's a quote from a County fan on P&B: He had some decent moments at County, but they were few and far between. The rest of the time he was terrible. Sounds just like the diddies we've got in central defence already. Here's another quote: Absolutely all over the place for the most part and would lunge into tackles and miss half the time. Horrendous. There are plenty more in the same vein on P&B if you care to look. Edited November 21, 2014 by FTOF

JJ McG
Heard that McLean turned up for training today but left as he was offered crap wages. Appartently Thistle bound. Good, he's shite anyway, tell him to take TC with him.
a50lennyc
I would take Brian McLean. He may not be a world beater but he's surely better than the central defenders we are currently using. Get him in.

I remember the majority of Falkirk fans told us that Michael Higdon was shite. And then the majority of St. Mirren fans told the Motherwell fans that Higdon was shite. The guy who sat behind me in the main stand every week in Higdon's last season was continually banging on about how shite Higdon was. The fact is that most football fans are clueless and haven't got a clue what they are watching.

He makes me look accomplished at centre half.

BuddieinEK
let a new manager decide. What manager? We have neither a manager or head coach!

He makes me look accomplished at centre half. That may be so. The real issue though is whether he's better than Marc McAusland! McAusland would probably make you look like an Champions League centre half!
