Knife Crime

The latest tragic deaths of 2 teenagers highlights that knifes are an everyday weapon by many these days.

These stats, while are for England and Wales, are frightening. (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-42749089?intlink_from_url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/topics/c12kgl2e4g6t/knife-crime&link_location=live-reporting-correspondent)

Scotland seems to be having some success in reducing the incidents.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-45572691

Why on earth are you "frightened"?

As an aside, the problem is clearly focussed on London drug gangs.

Legalise all drugs and the problem will die away.

I wonder how long it will take people to realise this.

The figures are staggering, frightening is a term, not everything needs to be taken literally.

Aye, it's all down to LONDON drug gangs.

What a simple life you live.

I could be wrong but I think you are allowed to carry a knife on you in England & Wales. Not saying that that is an excuse. Time to do Operation 'Dove' again all over the UK

It's slowly, but surely, become the norm and seen as acceptable to be carrying knives.

We're reasonably sheltered up here, not a lot of issues of serious knife attacks but it seems there's nowhere safe.

The 2 kids killed at the weekend were nothing to do with drugs or gangs, which a decent percentage could well be.

Very sad for the families involved.

Yeah, bud, never understood that mentality of carrying a weapon.

Decent post F Man.  The numbers here have been reduced but are still way too high.

Families affected know the cost of lost lives and damaged bodies.

Tragic is not too strong a word.

Rather than mouthing off, you could do a lot worse than look at the bar chart in the link which shows incidents normalised to per 100,000.

You could then do a wee bit of digging yourself into other resources to understand the problem.

You shouldn't always rely on Facebook for your news you know.

PS No reason for the edit, it seems to be the in thing these days.

Are you still frightened?

It's worth bearing in mind that it's 35 attacks out of 65 million people. Surprisingly low given the amount of drugs flooding the streets through organised crime. The way it is being reported you'd think the streets were a battlefield.

Have you or any of your family or friends suffered as a result of knife crime?

I got overcharged for a bread knife in ASDA once, does that count?

You know the answer to that.

Those with experience of knife crime wouldn't joke about it

You need medical help.
You know nothing about this.
How does a death and 144 stitches sound to you? Does that make you chuckle?

Just for your info, I have, over the years, had 2 friends stabbed to death and at least 3 other friends and family members stabbed. Can I still laugh? Yes, of course I can. So you can go and stick your sanctimonious, self opinionated shite right up your jacksy. Don't tell me what I can laugh at, when you don't know anything about me.

Actually similar response to mine.

You've put "Actually" instead of "Not at all".

I don't even know why he brought all this up.

I was having a bit of fun at Faraway Saint's expense (as he does with me) and he steams into the debate trying to turn the entire thing into the most insincere moral high ground nonsense, placing himself as chief arbitrator of what we're all allowed to talk and laugh about.

I don't understand his need to make himself the centre of every conversation.

Seriously, if it's just post-career boredom he should just go and get a job.
