I don't see that we have the money to hire the kind of players that will lift us year-on-year, so we need a bit of a clue as to what Robinson's remit is from the board, the club should be transparent about the future.  it is one thing to say we are ambitious, the fans group are the larger shareholder and need to know the how as well as the what and if the main tactic is continuing to scour the Irish, English and Scottish leagues for middling players with the intention of finding a nugget and boosting their value then tell us.  That will tell us something about the attitude of the board and management.

The path for better youth players to the first team seems harder than ever and for the life of me I cant see very many of the recent crop of signings who are about to turn good.  Youngsters need minutes against better players and we don't do that at Saints, do the young players in the first team squad still get minutes in the development sides?  If they can't get time in one side or the other then I'm afraid we are really a recycling business for older players who should have done better by the time we sign them.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the youth path changes, that’s our future.

That makes everything all right then, provided you are right.

Currently sending players out to Irish clubs and Scottish ones that are no better than the junior leagues is not the way to develop them, otherwise the national side would be boasting an array of former lower-league and junior players in the ranks

Can’t argue with any of that which is why I think the contract is lengthy. When I think of home grown there was Baker, Fullerton, Gillies. We only did that then because we had no money but they were all players.
