Grainger is a quality player, he will come good when he gets a run of games in the team, im delighted we signed him and im also delighted young Kelly is performing well and we have a good battle for the left back jersey.

Isn't it great to be discussing which of the two options we're happy to see at left back rather than which player we're going to be playing out of position there? A step forward methinks.

Kelly came into the team against Aberdeen. That team had lost 5 games in a row. Kelly was part of the revival.
Grainger was poor - as were the rest of the team - early in the season. He'll get my support if and when he gets another chance, but I am loving seeing a young player get a run in the team and impressing.

Granger looked unfit and frankly a little disinterested. A fully fit and focused Granger would be great, but that's not what we've seen. Don't forget he's coming back from major injury. I think he needs a bit of a run in the U20's to get confidence, fitness and sharpness back

Whilst I agree with what you say, I'd qualify it with one wee point...
Grainger played with a team devoid of confidence... in a team with a horrendous defence.. with players around him lacking in effort/motivation/confidence. .. and in a group still under instructions to pass pass pass.
I wonder how young Sean would have performed under the same circumstances?
I also wonder how Danny G would perform with the current team.
Sean is in possession of the jersey and rightly so... but the criticism of a Saints player who has been introduced under extenuating circumstances us pitiful and short sighted.
Why can't we get behind them both?

For me the answer is Yes.
I would happily see Scotland as a wee but Independent country in Europe and as a Republic.
However, I respect the views of those who disagree, whether it be with regards Independence, Europe or the Monarchy.
In the modern world I see no need for a hierarchical system as exists in Britain and would happily see this change, but that is not the question currently in hand.
Independence is simply a question of self determination, something over which each nation, not just Scotland, should have complete control of.
For me this is an aspirational view, taking responsibility for our own destiny and creating a better society for all to live in.
Regardless of the result of the referendum we all have to get up the next day and go to work with those of opposing opinions. The rest of Britain will still be next door, as will our European neighbours.
The next year should be dedicated to a grown up discussion of the pros and cons of each position.
Scotland has gained a lot from the Act of Union, but to argue this hasn't been at an equally great cost is wrong. Many Scots though don't see this as we have never, in my opinion, particularly been a united people, but with time this is changing as people see we can take responsibility for our own affairs.
The referendum regardless of the result allows us all to examine where we stand and where we all would like to go as a Nation.
Regardless of the result it is another step towards more autonomy and would say that the hard work for the BT campaign will start following a No vote, in that the status quo isn't working for the people of Scotland otherwise we would not be having a referendum on Independence. Devo Max will then come to the fore and in a generation or two as more and more Scots see that we can take full responsibility for our own destiny the Independence question will be asked once more with a different answer.
This is a journey for us all whether you see it as a waste of time or with conviction and passion. Hopefully the next year will bring constructive debate and engage the population as a whole without antagonism and negativity.

Bluto... that has been my Mantra since day one.
Locally, the SNP politicians are among the few I respect and have time for... they care and I would vote for them without a moments hesitation at a local level... but I cannot agree with their national politics.
I asked my local SNP MSP (who I have all the time in the world for) what the benefits of independence would be.
After listening, I told her that if me being better off as a result of independence meant that some poor pensioner in Hull or Wigan suffered as a result... if some poor family in Leeds or Newcastle were worse off to make me wealthier... then I could not support that.
I asked for a reason to support independence other than increased personal wealth. The only thing I got was "we would be able to make our own decisions"!
Sorry... but increased devolution would give exactly that, would it not?

I live south of the border so my feelings are purely emotional however, I do think that if the BT camp win so long as there is a sizeable vote for inependence there will be a significant push for Devo +, which my cynical mind thinks has been the aim all along.

I agree we should get the young talent on longer deals, it was true that the 2nd and 3rd goals weren't pretty but in an open game like saturday that understandable. Mistakes will inevitably be made but it is learning from those that will determine what sort of gem we've uncovered!

Bit harsh that. If he had dwelled on it or turned into an on rushing attacker and been dispossessed, we'd be giving him pelters. He did exactly the right thing in the circumstances.

No doubt that last night was the best performance of the season. Each player looked hungry and motivated. Jim Goodwin looked ten times better in midfield and Sean Kelly made N encouraging competitive debut! That, coupled with the fans in good spoilers and in full voice made the night a very enjoyable one! Perhaps a stand out bit was a guy behind me shouted 'Goodwin, yer sh*te, you shouldnae even be playing', only to be swiftly put in his place by a boy of no more than 11 who told him 'If you think we're sh*te, go home then' much to the amusement of people round about!

Aberdeen hadnt conceded a goal in 5 games before the game last night and were off the back of a spirited 5-0 hammering of Falkirk. We more than matched them last night and were unlucky not to go 2-0 up before they equalised.
Considering our poor run, the starting 11 has been re-shaped and Aberdeen are one of the strongest teams in the league, a point was an excellent result.

The situation we are in at the moment is not one that any of us are happy with, but realistically as others have said we can't do anything about that. What we can do is support the Club that we all love and if it is the case that the manager/players/board change then we'll do what we've always done and support the club to the extent that we can and endure the tough times and revell in the good times that suppporting St Mirren has always provided. Woke up this morning, got the feeling that the boys are heading into training with a real can-do attitude, 100% behind the boss, Daniel Lennon, and will be working their nuts off on surefire tactics to beat Aberdeen. After some light training and rest over the weekend, we will turn out on Monday, in front of many millions worldwide on TV, and a capacity crowd at Greenhill, and dispose of the Dandy Dons 3, maybe 4 nil. We will then proceed to teach Hearts who is boss, with an impressive 2-0 win at Tynecastle, then go on a run the likes of which has never been seen. We will be in 4th place come Christmas, with Dan the Man winning 3 manager of the months, and Lee Mair and the keeper (one of them) winning player of the month alternately. Following an unlucky last minute penalty defeat in the final of the Scottish Cup to Kilmarnock, with Craig Samson netting the winner in a 10-9 shootout classic, we will go on to finish in 2nd place in the league. Greenhill Road will be rechristened the Paisley Emirates thanks to the £10m a season sponsorship deal and we will be touted for the title in 2014/15.
So no more negativity, the season starts today.
