    Top of the league.
I reckon we could be a top 5 team

Have we better players? Probably. Are we the better team? Probably not. Will we deserve to win this? Probably not. What’s the difference? McCall is an underrated and very experienced coach and it shows in his teams. However a wins a win if we hold on and win

Partick deserved that goal. We have been very poor. Doesn’t bode well going forward

Disappointing statement from the club. Cannot blame Kyle for wanting to better himself and make more money. Had every right to turn down new contract. He’s a professional and can not afford sentimentality to govern his career. If l was in his shoes l would be swapping scrapping at the bottom for scrapping at the top, better wages and a manager he knows will make him a better player and help potentially move to even better things. He might be our captain but a quick look around the club these past few years would not fill you with hope for the future. Best of luck Kyle and to the board up your game and your PR

How hard was it to say something like:
One of the big selling points to prospective players coming to St Mirren is that we can offer them a real chance at first team football and if they succeed we will not stand in their way if they want to move onto bigger clubs. That is part and parcel of our club ethos and our value system and we are delighted to see many former players move onto the English Premiership and the Scottish national side. Whilst we are sorry to see Kyle go despite our best efforts to keep him at the club, we fully expect him to follow in those footsteps and will follow his career as he progresses. We thank him for dedicating so many years of his life to this club and wish him well on the next step of his career.
That sort of statement followed by perhaps a brief video or story f his highlights and goals at St Mirren would have shown the sort of class the boy deserves to be shown IMO.
But we have a seemingly over-emotional, petulant nugget in charge of these statements.

Magennis signed a three year deal in 2016, and was then contracted until 2021.
He was never going to stay beyond 2021.
It's to the club's credit that we tied him down so long and have, if the stories are true, received a fee in excess of the development fee we would have received next June.

A lot of fair points made last two pages. Defence has become very leaky especially at set pieces. We should not have let Baird go. We are not blessed with excellent strike force but it would make a difference if they got some decent service. Erhahon has been a delight last few games. Cammy needs more game time. 4-2-3-1 seems a good shout. McAllister as always is a disappointment and doesn’t even do it as a late impact substitute. If we could settle in a set up l think we can easily avoid Bolton three and battle for seventh but like yesterday we need to convert chances when on top otherwise we face more misery

Didn't McCarthy header it straight to Shankland? To be fair he has been poor this season so far in several games. - Had it been Bairdy, the fans would be giving him pelters...
Are any other Premiership Squads as week in defensive cover as we are? I doubt it.
Huge mistake - Don't know what JG issue with him was and cannot believe it was all about pre season and cup games last year. Bairdy is no world beater but the way McCarthy has been playing this season, Bairdy could have been a better option. Anyway he's gone now and we are short in too many ways at this moment.
We have had a lot of changes and I am hopeful things will improve, but there are so many areas that need to be improved upon - here are just a few :-
    1. Shutting down and marking opposition players - McGrath for their 2nd goal a typical example of weak cover from the midfield. (Sheron in other games is probably the most glaring example)
    2. Midfield needs to work better as a unit and improve both defensively and creatively as well as being more of an attacking threat. The coaching here is crucial - these guys need to work much better for the team to be successful, and yes Flynn will bring something and hopefully Magennis will, but he was not that great last season.
    3. No where near enough players playing anywhere near their best with any sort of consistency. Guys like Durmus contributed positively last season and have not seemed to be up to speed yet - why?
    4. This wonderful defense laden with captains who have all (Tait next time) missed matches already and our cover is woefully inadequate.
Nevertheless we are probably better than Hamilton and possibly Utd who are still on the winning mentality of last season. Not sure about Livi and RC are not better really though they manage to get results and points that were unexpected, but will they fall away like they did last season post Christmas.  These are the teams we are competing against to avoid relegation !

    Can't disagree
There seems to be no trust or faith in the players and we are far too cautious in our approach.
    Hence always on the backfoot

Well I actually thought for his first Premiership match the referee had a very good game. The sending off is the controversy but he didn't give it though. He was wrong as it it was borderline red but was a foul and should have been carded.
Take up refereeing and address it yourself ?

First things first. St.Mirren were honking today. And yet another horrendous refereeing decision. But I don't get goodys way of thinking. Baird on the bench but he takes Foley ont of the midfield and leaves Baird on the bench. Morias the new Danny Mullen. Tries hard. But that's it. Not a starter in my book. No one scores but Obika. No midfielder has been near getting a goal this season. McAllister I like but so far doesn't do enough for me. Get McGrath in the middle of the park instead of wide. Same old Saints square pegs in round holes. But for the sending off we could have won the game but IMO its papering over the cracks. Next week he has to bring Baird in and leave Foley in the midfield. Poor display Saints and piss poor ref.

I certainly lost it for about 15 minutes in first half. My internet connection was fine, l could get on anything else, could log back into St Mirren TV but could not get anything else. Then it resolved. Not ideal given they are charging for privilege. Otherwise a good day.

Good result lots of plus points. Debutants all did well. Just need to take chances and create a bit more and this season might be a little more comfortable. Really solid looking at back

Best combination of home and away strips for years. Presume there will also be the option for the players anyway of white shorts for clashes with other teams. We saw in the last couple of seasons the team change short colours. Which to buy? Home or away? Mind you as things stand l might not get the chance to wear either in a fives game

Have not really been following threads last few weeks. Understand st mirren is a business just like any other and has to put a business head on, but this is also sport and we will eventually emerge form this worldwide crisis and enter a new, changed world. I still maintain that by all means sell season tickets etc but l want to see this season finished even if it is in the autumn. Result it take short break and then play truncated 22 game season. Old firm would still get their four games two for this season and two for next. Does cause a problem for value of season tickets but l cannot abide the idea of teams being relegated just because of where they are and Falkirk would also lose out and we would never hear the end of Celtic nine in a row being tainted

Comparison with other diseases is irrelevant. TB, whooping cough, measles, HIV kill thousands worldwide. However, they are preventable through vaccination etc. We are facing a virus here which will not kill me, but could easily kill my daughter due to her medical history and dozens of other relatives just through exposure to it. The actual numbers that may die are spurious as they are based on computer models and limited accurate data. The rise in deaths across Europe attributed to this virus have to be taken seriously. However it is a nonsense for our government to delay a major lockdown yet consider lengthy and protracted school closures later which with other possible actions could knock outs and the global economy back decades. It is incredible that l will walk into a school tomorrow and mix with over 1500 youngsters having already seen three people sent home to self isolate on Friday. Why are we still open? Only because no one was tested and as a result we don't know. Football can wait until we have a better idea of what is happening
