Long overdue. Think the team will start off in this division - meaning a derby with Bishopton: http://scotwomensfootball.com/league-competitions/swfl-division-2-west/
Hopefully over time we can build up a youth structure similar to the one the men's team has.

I used to work for a supplier to the club,Kath was my contact and she was a genuinely lovely lady who went out of her way to be helpful.
Such sad news that she's passed away, doesn't seem so long ago that she had retired.  RIP Kath.

To be fair, there wasn't a whole lot of scandalous questions as you'd expect when the team's doing well - off the top of my head:
JR said that Lewis Morgan compensation is based fully on the club who is arranging a PCA. In the worst case scenario, we'd hope that category 1 clubs would be approaching him which would increase the compensation significantly. In a best case scenario, Lewis (who is appreciative of the opportunity afforded to him by St. Mirren) and his agent will agree that the club deserve to be properly recompensed for his talents and will strike and agreement. James Fowler has identified the slow starts and early conceding of goals in games as an area where they'd like to focus on improvement but did point out that whilst an issue, it's a much less pressing issue than losing late goals. Players have facilities on hand to deal with several stress, pressure or general mental wellbeing issues and we have a professional gentleman - who is a supporter -  on hand who works with the club on a 'pick up the phone and he'll show at the drop of a hat' basis. Several of the players have benefited from this including several of the injured and young lads and Stephen McGinn who is feeling the added responsibilty of being club captain and throws himself fully into that role. Both Jack and James pressed at how important they believe that the mental wellbeing of players is - especially in the modern game where players are a lot more introverted. Jack went to Lennoxtown to pick Brendan Rodger's brain over pre-season and whilst he learnt a lot in terms of the mental aspect of dealing with players, was very happy that Celtic's methods were similar in several areas to things that Jack and James had already implemented at St. Mirren - which validated the decisions to do so somewhat. Everyone is fit for selection on Saturday apart from Kyle Magennis, Harry Davis and Gary McKenzie who is over his concussion but picked up an achillies strain  in a bounce game at Ralston last week. He's had a scan and there is no damage there, he's expected to be in contention for a place next week. Harry and Kyle are expected to be at full pace in the next fortnight and pushing for the first team afterwards. Kyle Magennis has dealt with his injury in a hugely professional manner. He approached the management and asked for advice on how to engage himself when injured, Jack Ross commented that he has since bulked up to the stage where he's noticeably square shouldered and is going to add a massive physical presence to his game upon return. Said the fans will be surprised at the changes in him. They are happy with the Ralston setup and whilst unwilling to name names (due to the unpredictability surrounding personal development at youth level) he said there is nothing to suggest the conveyor of talent will end any time soon and the club are now in a fortunate position where they are an attractive prospect for youth players due to the track record they have of giving youth a chance and the high turnover of players who get a move upwards. They have pinpointed 3 or 4 players not with the club who they feel could do us a very good turn in the future but due to time and finance constraints, have so far been unable to scout these players. They acknowledged that whilst the scouting at youth level is excellent, it's a struggle at senior level and would like a scout/scouts, although they accept that resources are finite and so must make do at present. Jack also commented that football at our level is still very much run on a level where a lot of scouting is done as goodwill gestures and an issue with this is pinpointing someone who'll do a favour whose opinion is trustworthy and in line with theirs.

Davies in today's paper claiming he's never been taken for another big job because of a smear campaign, then outs himself as a total bellend. He wanted the Hearts job with the caveat that it removed 3 other people from theirs, including Austin McPhee and Jon Daly to be placed back to the U20s 'where he should be'.
Then in the next breath, says that the likes of Hearts, St. Mirren and Dundee Utd jobs are 'beneath him' and he'd never take on any role.

Once again, we should thank our lucky stars that we have '2nd choice' Jack Ross and not this classless train wreck, angry wee man.

Can everyone I know, and especially all St Mirren fans please share. We are planning a minute's applause for wee Raymie Balloch on Saturday, on the 58th minute of the match v Dundee Utd. Raymie was a Saints season ticket holder and Saints fanatic, as well as a great charity worker. He passed away 2 weeks ago doing one of the things he loved most......a charity bike ride.

Louise79 reacted to Saint Garf in Misery Guts V Happy Clappers
Although it goes against most other aspects of my nature, when it comes to St Mirren, I'm a pretty dedicated happy clapper. I don't have the power to influence anything that happens at the club, but I feel the team would benefit more from my support and blind faith than it would from moaning and berating players. Obviously, things happen that I'm not pleased with; players come in who I'm no sure about, guys leave who I'd want to keep, we lose to teams we should beat, we concede soft goals, but it's all part of being a football fan, if the game ever made me miserable for more than half an hour post-match, I'd stop going. You probably get more lows than highs as a buddie, but that just makes the good times all the more special. The Morton game will be forgotten in a matter of days, but the Millennium Champions, the Challenge Cup Final against Accies, winning the League under Gus, 3-2 at Fir Park, 2-0 away to Falkirk, 2-1 against Rangers, 4-0 vs Celtic, Mallan's goal against Raith, Loy's goal at Easter Road...They'll all live with me forever.
    Happy Clapper for life!

Louise79 reacted to Julian Banjos in Darryl Duffy
Played with Jack at Falkirk.  Apart from the time in India, Duffy's career is not dissimilar to Stephen Dobbie's: earned a move down south, actually managed to carve out a big chunk of his career in England then returned to Scotland as a veteran.
The pair of them have got an identical goals per game ratio in the UK:
    Dobbie in Scotland: 79 in 179 (0.44); Duffy in Scotland: 38 in 73 (0.52)
    Dobbie in England: 35 in 187 (0.19); Duffy in England: 49 in 211 (0.23)
    Dobbie overall: 114 in 366 (0.31); Duffy overall: 87 in 284 (0.31)
Dobbie came back at the age of 33 and scored 19 goals last season, Duffy's coming back now at the age of 33...........

Followers of the Saints youth development will know better than me.  On the train and caught the last few minutes of Scotland under16s beating England 2 -0 captained by St.Mirren's own Ben Cameron.  Understand he missed a penalty too so he must be one be one of ours. Got to be good news.

    Academy Update with Allan McManus
SMFC Webteam Saints News It's not just Jack Ross and James Fowler who have been busy shaping their St Mirren squad this summer.
Allan McManus, the Head of the Youth academy, has been hard at work over the close season making changes to the U20s.
Some players have moved on, while a number of youngsters have been promoted from the U17 squad.
While Allan has high hopes for all in the U20 squad, a name who stands out is Ethan Erhahon who has been capped by Scotland at U16 level.
The Head Academy admits that Ethan attracted interest from a number of clubs in England and said he is delighted that the 16 year-old has decided to stay at the Buddies
Speaking on the step up for the players from the 17s, Allan believes it will be a big adjustment for the players.
He said: "It's a massive one, particularly for guys like Ethan and David Wilson who have actually come in a year younger than the rest of them.
One of the new faces to join the academy is Evan Horne who recently left fellow Ladbrokes Championship side Dunfermline.
Evan is a local boy, hailing from Renfrew and Allan believes he'll be a good signing.
Saints have seen the likes of Kyle Magennis, Lewis Morgan, Jack Baird, Stevie Mallan, John McGinn, Kenny McLean and more reach the first team in recent years and Allan believes that this should inspire the current academy crop to work hard
Andy Webster's time as a St Mirren player came to an end as his contract expired at the end of last season.
But the ex-Scotland international has been helping out with the U20s and Allan confessed having someone with Andy's experience around makes sense.

Tomorrow marks the first anniversary of Tams passing and as i will be in Arrochar i am posting this today. The past season has been very difficult without the wee man at my side but can i just thank the many St Mirren fans who at games have quite simply put a hand on my shoulder or a knowing nod in recognition. The fact his name is still chanted at games and the young player of the year award being named in his honour shows the high regard he was held within our support and has helped Mary,Steven and the girls come to terms with their loss. Please remember them in your thoughts and prayers.
I humbly ask that you take time out and raise a glass or 2 to remember Tam who was quite simply the greatest guy i have ever known.
We,re on our way Tam We,re on our way.
