LanarkshireBuddie reacted to Dibbles old paperboy in Goody
Quinn's been alright. I haven't been wowed by too much that he's done but would say he has competed well in midfield, and since Goodwin's injury and non-reintroduction to the starting XI Quinn has provided a bit of bite in an otherwise lightweight midfield. I think it is slightly ironic that Goodwin may well have recovered more fitness on after his return from injury than Quinn has and yet Quinn is straight into the team and looking tired before being subbed... Clarkson is another who goes straight into the starting XI before being fit.
Pretty sure that Goody will be able to look after himself whatever the club decide about his contract with us. If his non-selection has been to prevent an automatic extension then I hope Tony Fitzpatrick as the new CEO has a look at these clauses in future for players whose deals would take them into their mid-30s. It seems crazy that if senior players are among the top earners that we have seen guys like Mair, DVZ and Goodwin frozen out for part of their final season at the club and being paid not to play, and in Goodwin's case he was having one of his best season's with us until his broken ankle and deserved to be in the starting XI on merit and his exclusion has been made more difficult to stomach by how abject our midfield has been without him while he has been warming the bench and fit enough to play.

LanarkshireBuddie got a reaction from Scotland in Alex Rae Vs Ian Murray
Apologies if there is a thread running :
comparing the 2 mangers over 16 games Raes record over 16 games works out at 8 wins.2 draws. and 6 defeats 26 points in 16 games working that out as a average work got us around 58 points which would have got playoffs which shows missed opportunity but also that next season we should be pushing on and given this isn't raes squad a summer to get right players in we should be going for title next year regardless of who comes down
and murrays record was shocking
2 wins, 6 draws, 8 defeats 12 points in 16 games and if he stayed in charge surely we would've went down

You are just having a laugh aren't you?
If the directors of a football club make a long series of bad decisions (take a look at Craig, Teale, letting our highest paid players go every year etc etc.) and this results in the downward spiral of the "business" yes they have f***d up - it wasn't the fans fault was it.
If by the law of averages they get one decision right eventually - it is possible they got lucky or that they finally got some good advice for a change.
Murray's record at Dumbarton has been posted on this website many times - it was cra*p. To say his appointment was an excellent decision for any reason is complete lunacy - they conceded 79 goals and won 9 games out of 36 in the league - dead impressive.
This is the kind of penny pinching speculation that has caused our spiralling downfall in recent seasons.
At long last we have a decent manager - let's not miss the trick before he is offered a better deal elsewhere.

LanarkshireBuddie reacted to Magic Monkey in Alex Rae Vs Ian Murray
Decent post. He's just a guy, trying to do a job. He wasn't coming in every day deliberately trying to f**k us over. He wanted us to be good as much as anyone - it's his career, after all.
Luckily, we moved incisively and, it seems, successfully. Rae appears to have been a good appointment. he has done remarkably well; the January window is always a nightmare but he did pretty well, all things considered.
We are due a big squad clearout, and I've seen enough to be confident that Rae will have us in the top four next season (though it'll be a tough league - probably Hibs, the Arabs and Falkirk. That's a very decent second tier.)

LanarkshireBuddie reacted to Mearns Saint in The Alex Rae And David Farrell Appreciation Thread
Since Alex Rae took charge we have had 48 points to play for. Out of that we have amassed 26, which given the diabolical mess he inherited, I think makes pretty good reading. For comparison purposes, Hibs have only collected 24 out of their last 48 available points.

LanarkshireBuddie reacted to div in 'midfielders' In Alex Rae's Starting Xi's
I don't really disagree with that but I think personally in a game like last night when we are playing with no natural holding midfielder then we are simultaneously reducing Mallan to a bit part role whilst also surrendering the middle of the park to the opposition.
I cannot understand why the manager would prefer Agnew to play that role ahead of Goodwin or Carswell. Even if he doesn't particularly fancy either, that is their natural position. Why put a square peg in a round hole?
Mallan was completley anonymous last night. He needs to have someone in there to do the dirty work and give him the ball in more advanced positions IMO.
We got out of jail on Saturday thanks to two wonder strikes. Last night we got what was coming to us.

A massive big thank you to the Saints fans who reunited me with my wallet after the under 20's game last night. Who said a fool and his money are easily parted? Thanks also to Stevie and Max at the stadium for putting up with an auld fud rummaging round the stand with tears in his eyes at 9:30 at night.

I have several more that makes it impossible to even care about any other team
1. Anglo Scottish win over Bristol
2. That 5-3 Game versus Fulham with Best and Marsh
3. That 3-0 win at Parkhead
4. Those 4-1 wins over Utd in Cup and few years later versus the now dead team.
5. Paisley Panda when we played Thistle, I have never laughed as much at a game, well apart from 4-1 versus the dead team
6. Our second goal versus Falkirk at Falkirk in 2-0 win that secured our safety
7. Kenny Maclean scoring after 12 secs against our must win game against Hibs.
8. Our B&Q Cup win.... what a day
9. Our centenary match versus Liverpool, best I have ever seen us play
10. Ricky Gillies goal against Utd in 93rd min which kept us in touch
You cant like St Mirren, you have to love them

LanarkshireBuddie reacted to Drew in Happy St Mirren's Day
Aye, what a fantastic day. Rollercoaster of emotions.
I have a clear top three, and I struggle to separate them.
The 1st Division winning day under Tom Hendrie as it topped off a wonderful season (best I have witnessed); the Great Escape at Fir Park - what needs to be said? The swing from utter despair to the height of elation is something I had never experienced before or since. I thought my heart might actually burst that afternoon (oh, and what an away support!); and, of course, St Mirren's day. I still get tears in my eyes thinking about that final whistle.
Sometimes being a St Mirren supporter can be hard work, but days like these make it all worthwhile. SMTID!

LanarkshireBuddie got a reaction from buddygreat in Rangers To Be Given South Stand
still cannot believe this decision by the board the loss on gates for rest of season will be down and season ticket sales will be down and for fans paying per game pricing at £20/22 for home games in championship is shocking no wonder gates are down board should have consulted with fans piss poor from Gilmour and co time for them to go as are dragging the club down and by no means are we safe we could need something to avoid last playoff place as have sold our soul to the new club from govan as we did celtic at start of season pissed right off

LanarkshireBuddie reacted to linwood buddie in Rangers To Be Given South Stand
Would it not be easier to give them W6,W7,North Stand and the two end sections of the Main Stand nearest the away end ,or do they not want the bigots near the Directors box or padded seats. The fact they would rather risk our fans safety to make a few £'s is a disgrace ,Shame on whoever came up with this idea.
