    What a typical nonsensical response.
You can’t be that blinkered that you completely misunderstood the point being made?
When St Mirren played IF Elsborg and AS Saint-Etienne in 1980 did you avoid going to the games because we only got there on the back of a Celtic victory and it was against all your morals?
Because the other guy who held those views actually went to see the first ever away tie in Europe. Talk about hypocrisy?

If you don’t think our rivals in the league (Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen) are hoping for results to go in their favour when we play opponents then I don’t think football is for you.
It’s not like you attend very many games so not much loss.

I don’t need to be “ITK” to understand what everyone who is directly involved with St Mirren will be hoping for if we finish 5th.

Since you are on the moral crusade then you contact John Needham, the other directors on the club board, the SMISA board, the manager and his staff, any of the players and ask them about the possibility of what I discussed.
I’m sure every rational individual on this forum will know their answer.

You appear so bitter and twisted about this it’s quite worrying. It’s beyond ridiculous.
Do us all a favour and add me to your famous ignore list.

It doesn’t mate. Why do you always assume when I disagree with you that I’m denying you your opinions. You sound like Neil off the Young Ones. A caricature oppressed lefty 😀.
I support the SNP because they are (or now possibly were) the only viable vehicle for independence. I don’t want Scotland to be run by the SNP forever. I just want it to be run by a government that it’s voted for.
And finally, I hate when people (like you just did) compare Scotland to provincial parts of England. It’s not the same thing Yorkshire isn’t a country. Scotland is. It’s a country that hundreds of years ago decided to sign up to a political union with some other countries. A lot of people now think that Union isn’t good for Scotland. Sadly for Yorkshire, Lancashire, Teeside etc etc they are part of England. Scotland isn’t.

Anyway, if fear we maybe be taking this thread somewhat off topic 🤣

A hypocrite, conceited and a faux snob, quite a mix.

Your posts are littered with "Oh, I'm no sure, we could win, but we could lose, oh I'll take a point" type comments, have a guess?

It's a must not lose imo both teams could potentially struggle for points apart from this match.

I don't share your opinion Hibs have improved that much recently but our defensive performance's last two games and a certain Kevin Nisbet have me worried we will "Hibs it".

If we can take this to last match home to Rangers still in with a chance of getting 5th while Hibs go to Tynecastle that would do me.

Hibs have had a so/so record at home since the turn of the year , they are a very capable team but do have their off days and can concede goals . Our away record has been well documented and let’s be honest , isn’t great - but we went to Pittodrie & also Tyncastle as recently as this month and won so we must go with hope and a reasonable level of confidence .
If we take the “We’re wee St.Mirren , thanks for letting us play with the big boys” mentality , we will have a long last five fixtures but I trust the manager to regroup and re-energise the squad into the team we have watched numerous times this season .
We can win but if I was a betting man  I’d be putting my money on a draw ,which suits us as long as we can beat Hearts at home in the next one.

IMO Hibs game is a must win. Hearts looked very good against County and look as if they might have their mojo back. Aberdeen are back on form and as for the glasgow gonks the less said the better. Think the winner of this game will secure 5th. Can't see us or Hibs getting much else to be honest. 😐

I always expect us to win all our post split games in the bottom 6 and we never do so I'm going for us losing all our post split games this year, fingers croseed I'm as wrong as ever!

It’s a case of ‘what if’ for me. Killie not winning away all season & walking right over us is a bitter pill to swallow.

A three point gap over Hibs right now would have been hugely welcome.

At the risk of being considered a spam merchant, give there are two threads discussing the same thing, I will repost what I have just written in the other thread here:

Hibs away is a MUST NOT LOSE game. They have the advantage being at home, too. Obviously all the fixtures will be difficult, I mean Aberdeen have won eight in a row and are looking very good right now. Celtic Park is an unlikely place to get points. Can lightning strike twice and we get something from Rangers at home? Otherwise it's a case of going to Tynecastle for something.
I desperately want European football, but this is not going to be easy at all.

Great to be in with the big boys rather than some aimless games or looking over our shoulders at a possible relegation battle.
Hibs have picked up over the last two games so we'll need to return to the form we were showing before the Killie game.
A tight game IMO, prediction closer to the time.

I'll assume you're talking about the poor performance against Kilmarnock as the previous 3 games we looked anything but a tired side.
I'd be wary of assuming we've "run out of steam" on the strength of ONE poor game.

So with that logic @beyond our ken
If we manage to finish 5th in the league will you be wanting either Falkirk or ICT to win this seasons Scottish Cup?
If we finish 6th I would definitely want that outcome, but if we finish in 5th I want Saints to benefit from European competition once again if that means one of the arse cheeks wins the SC.

I was there. The performance was disappointing, indeed. We were terrible, and once we went down to ten men that was the game finished.
However, we're in the top six, and hopefully this is just a blip.

The way to a sustainable top 6 for us is to have excellent young players led by experienced players in their prime. that  much  is obvious.   Attracting and keeping both types of talent is the big problem for us.  I would hope (and like to think)  that Robinson would field more youngsters if they are good enough.
The Scottish Premiership is now in a 3-tier situation with Aberdeen, the Edinburgh clubs and one other (currently us) making up the middle tier, all three of the others can regularly hit 20000 home ticket sales, more than double our potential and there is an obvious gulf in revenue between us and that has an obvious effect on what kind of player they attract , we would have to add another 6000 seats to seriously challenge their positions .   I am afraid the pecking order is about to be set in stone for the next 20 years.  Goodwin is clearly turning around United and if he carries on in that vein then they will probably usurp us.  Their current attendances average 8600 and they will hit the 9000+ mark if they continue to improve.
Unless we can grow the club exponentially, then the best we can hope for is top 6 every 3-5 years whilst fighting it out with Killie, Motherwell and United. Given yesterday's crowd figures, i'd like to think we could actually sell more seats than we currently have on a regular basis.  As football attendances are on the rise in Scotland, it would be interesting to know if there is any research into our best potential that would indicate how much the club can possibly grow.

The reason we have a threadbare squad is we had to reduce costs by transferring/loaning out youth academy graduates like Ethan, Dylan Reid and Jay Henderson.

We also loaned out the young lad to Arbroath as well as Brophy.
He brought in 18 year old Small recently and recalled Lewis Jamieson.
Robbo has achieved what no other manager has done for decades with very limited resources.

The amount of doom and gloom from certain individuals over what is a first for the club, top 6 finish, is shocking. We were pish yesterday, no question, but we beat the champions elect at home, nobody else has done this. We beat Hearts at Tynecastle, had rangers worried for 75 minutes and took a point of them earlier in the season. This season we have also beat Aberdeen twice and hibs once. So who is to say we can't make a go of it in the last 5 games. Cheer up miserable sods, even if it's not realistic we make top 3 or 4, we are at the business end of the league instead of wondering if we will get sucked into a relegation battle.

If we finish 5th and ICT or Falkirk beat the Ugly Sisters, we will not qualify for Europe.
If we finish 5th, we'll surely all be supporting whichever Sister gets to the final?
