Not really, no. He's admitted kicking two policemen, one multiple times.
    .....
Big, bleeding heart liberal that I am. I think that act on it's own deserves jail time. The fact he's done it before, well, how can he defend that. Once is maybe a mistake, take the punishment, move on. Twice though........ come on. Really?

Drew, do you have any thoghts at all about the victim in all of this because you seem in an indecent haste to defend a confessed criminal with a history of violence against police officers.

    Am I missing something here.
The man pleaded GUILTY to assaulting a police officer for the second time.
I'm not sure why you think that under those circumstances there should be criticism of those wanting him punished.
What other facts do you want here?
BTW FWIW, I'd expect him to be hit with community service of about 200 hours and a £500 fine or thereabouts unless he caused serious injury. I also expect he'll be fined around 2 weeks wages by the club and possibly the SFA for bringing the game into disrepute. 3 punishments seems harsh but it's always been that way in football.

Hang on Drew. It's not good enough to say "ach well we've all been a bit naughty".
We have a problem in our culture where a growing number of people seem to think it's OK to get pissed or whatever and then kick lumps out of someone.
It isn't moral indignation for people to expect some form of punishment for that BEFORE we start talking about reforming his character.
Neither is it moral indignation to expect that justice is seen to be done as a message and deterrent to others.
That's not to say that I'm advocating Paul should lose his job but he should and will be punished.
Hopefully he'll recognise that yes we all do daft things but consequences need to be faced and punishment taken like a man.
The key people to be thinking about here are the victims first and foremost and NOT the convicted criminal.

Wonder if you'd be saying that if it was your brother or your father he had kicked the shite out of.
FFS football fans can be selfish as f**k sometimes.

Couldn't disagree more. How many season ticket holders can attend every single game to get that discount? I've got a season ticket and won't make another home league game until late January because of something called life.
Season ticket holders keep this club alive, and get regularly screwed at the end of the season when games become £10 as they're meaningless. About time we got a tiny, little gesture like this.

The thing is, its a total misconception that Andy Dorman and Billy Stark did no running about.
These guys were making runs all the time to get into goalscoring position. Its just that you never noticed this running unless the ball actually landed with them to get an attempt at goal.
If a game went by where Andy Dorman didn't have an attempt at goal then many folk went away wondering what he did. But the fact is that he probably worked his backside off!
In any case, if you look back on match reports of Dorman's time at St. Mirren you'll find that when he wasn't scoring that his name often crops up in the description of other goals scored. His part in goals rarely involved beating upteem players or playing an amazing pass or some other bit of skill however. It generally just involved him making a run and someone else getting the benefit of the break of the ball as a result.
Get the ball forward, get players forward, make runs, take a chance.
As opposed to fannying about with possession in your own half until you give it straight to the opposition...

I'm interested to quantify this seemingly general consensus that we played well on Saturday. What exactly is it based on? We never created a single clear cut chance at the weekend. We created 2 against Thistle the week before, and we scored 1 of them. We created three or four against QOTS and scored and we had a couple against Killie and scored.
Granted we had far more possession of the ball on Saturday, but that was because Motherwell were happy enough to let us have the ball in our third and the middle third as they knew things would break down in the final third, and they did. Lasley must have made about 40 interceptions in front of his back four.
Motherwell sat off us in the knowledge that they could draw the wing backs forward and hit us on the break, a standard way to counter a 3-5-2 when you have pace in your side. Seemingly this has led to the conclusion that we played better because we had (relatively speaking) loads of the ball. Why? What does possession count for if you do nothing with it?
If Motherwell had played high tempo and pressing the way Thistle did the week before we would have had less of the ball but we would have created more chances, due to the gaps a pressing game leaves. The fact Well chose a different game plan against us is the reason we had more possession.
I'm personally of the belief we were utterly hopeless on Saturday and 0-1 flattered us, and when you look at the two clear cut chances Well had second half it doesn't seem too ridiculous a conclusion.

The club lack any ideas of how to engage with the public. Take yesterday for example Doors Open Day. Club was open to the public. Even on a horrible day there must have been a few thousand visitors, not all of which were football fans. There was not a single player, member of the coach staff of director present.
This was an opportunity to ignite a spark in a youngster and parent to get down to the club and feel part of it. With a little imagination and organisation they could have put the kids in to teams, created a match day experience, by putting them in the dressing room, walked them down the tunnel, gave them a chat from the manager, talked through the tactics etc. Little things like that live with children forever.
The place was soulless, it was like it is most Saturdays.
Take the court as an example the kids are taken up the court, down the cells and put in the van. They staff put on a show in an attempt to put the fear of god up the kids. And they remember it!

This is exactly why I can't understand SMiSA though - their membership and those running it. SMiSA has been getting treated the same way now since the group was incepted. So why piss away members money on t-shirts and towels, and why give the consortium a £50k loan to "develop facilities" which presumably is supposed to enhance the value of the club assets - and therefore their share price. SMiSA should have told Gilmour and co to f**k off - and they should have made it clear that the only way the club would get £50k from them would be if they were allowed to purchase shares that would have stopped the consortium putting the clubs future in significant risk by offering a majority shareholding to a single investor.
SMiSA should have been looking at the consortium for what it is. SMiSA presumably have the goal of wanting to keep the club in safe hands and they should have looked at the consortium as their rival. Instead Gilmour and co wiggle their bums, and pull up their tops slightly and SMiSA are falling over themselves like ugly virgins at a lapdancing club to hand over their money.

Second half more of the same.
In the last 5 minutes though Saints missed 3 great chances - 2 from Bahoken.
Really hoping he's short of match fitness/sharpness. So far the signs are not looking great, but hopefully he'll come on to a game.
One things for sure, if the fans start getting on his back, it's no going to make things easier for him.
Caprice had a really good second half, but hard to gauge how much of that was down to the opposition - though at some points they did have three guys marking him.
Just generally there weren't any stand outs from Saints that looked as if they could immediately help out the first team.
