Just in from Crappilow. Great nights entertainment and I'm not talking bout the game. But that was good as well. Two women behind me Burnsy and Campbell were comedy gold. As for the game our young players were superb. McAllister and Cuddihy. But man of the match by a mile was Stuart Carswell imence. And what a injury time free kick Gow who excellent in the 2nd half. Celtic had Forrest' Rogic' Allan and Ryan Christie so well done Saints youngsters.

It was also funny watching Farrel on the side line applauding the ref giving us a decision

Another disgraceful performance again. But not by St.Mirren. The officials were dreadful. It ended up fans not shouting at decision but laughing. The ref was a clown. But thought we played really well Baird and Webster at the back were excellent backed up really well by Watson and Irvine. Rocco Quinn was tireless in Midfield, he had a great game. Upfront thought Clarkson works really hard for the team. Shankland needs to work on his first touch. But he's young and hopefully he will learn. What Clangers was doing at the end trying to dribble out I will never know. But it was a decent game despite poor officials.

It's a short career, you'd need to be daft to not want to squeeze every penny you could out of it. Thompson's a different situation. He's a St Mirren fan, who wanted a few years playing for his team, he had made his money long before he signed for us.
If I was Alex Rae talking to a youngster, who told me the sum of his ambitions was to play for St Mirren, I'd be very concerned about their future in the game. Sure, their immediate goal should be to break into the first team, but beyond that, all these guys should have their eye on the next big move, and the next big contract. It's what will drive them to play well for us. We just have to accept that's the role of a club our size.

Came across below today from the Divster
"To be perfectly honest I'm wondering about keeping the forum going at all never mind bringing back red dots.
It's not what it once was, and frankly I'm quite tired of it.
I can't say I enjoy it much, every thread seems to descend into the same old shit. Many people have told me in the last year that they have stopped visiting the forum for that very reason and I can't really blame them."
Div- I get to see the goals again thanks to you
LPM is put in his place thanks to you
Tommy Craig got sacked --------------- well maybe too far
Anyway your work is appreciated and rarely like one of my golf drives is straight to the point and in bounds.
Shull loves you and I think your a top bloke
    THANKS

I work closely with a company who are all Plymouth brethren. On a visit to us we invited one of their fellas out to lunch. He declined saying he could only eat with people who broke bread with him.I told him that i took communion but that did not satisfy his needs. This took me aback and i then went into a heavy discussion about whether he thought he was above other human beings who had christian values also.It would appear from his answers that he did.Needless to say i now order less from them than i did previously as my philosophy is we are all Jock Tamsons bairns regardless of religious beliefs.
Treat people as you would expect to be treated yourself and you wont go far wrong.

Just in from the pub in Bangkok where I watched the fist hour of an AFC tie between Tampine Roves (Singapore) and Sheikh Jamal. As Tampine got ready to kick-off I noticed a familiar face at No25. Billy? Surely not.
2 mins later Billy put Tampine 1-0, and shortly afterwards set up their No.7 to make it 2-0. Stood that way till half time. But I can report a good showing by one of our old boys.

Personally I don't think the membership system is going to work out long term and I would much rather have had a mix of members and pay on the day punters rather than exclusively members.
That said, I am really pleased the space has been kitted out as I am sure it will be able to generate revenue for the club over and above matchdays just as the corporate suite does. It will be able to cater for events that the corporate suite can't and that can only be a good thing in my opinion.
I'm sure if the numbers aren't stacking up after a while then the membership system may change.
I've signed up, really only to help get it off the ground and get it done. If I find I don't like it or I'm not using it then I'll cancel my subscription. The £50 I'll have invested up front will have helped to get the place built. I'll be quite happy to write that investment off if I find the place isn't for me on a week to week basis.
Same reason I give SMiSA a membership subscription every month. I don't agree with everything they do, but I accept the guys running the show are doing their level best and have the aim of helping the club. Same as the fans council guys do.
Why folk bitch about these guys is really beyond me.

Yeah the ref did see the penalty.
Before I start, it was a penalty, and the ref knows it was one. He knew it right away and he knew it after we messed up the 'advantage'. He messed up and he will know that.
Devils advocate; he gives the penalty, the ball runs through and gets stuck in the net, and we miss the penalty... We are all raging at the ref for not playing the advantage. Just like we were after Carey missed the penalty against Hearts which was given as Nigel scored against them in the SCQF.
Barry's a Paisley fella and a good lad. He is trying to judge the extent of advantage there, and he's judged it wrong. After he's gave the advantage and the shots away he can't bring it back and give the penalty.
He's got it wrong and it's cost us the game. It's happened before and it will happen again.

Scabby Dug reacted to div in Shelter/raised Platform For Wheelchair Spectators
    Got this update today from Iain Laurie at the SMDSA;
Since the January SMDSA meeting Johnny Clark and I have attended two meetings with Brian Caldwell (Chief Executive), Lynn Watson (Ticket Administrator) and Colin Haggerty and Alan Wardrop (both Fans Council) and Iain Brown (Paisley Pumps Ltd )

Phase 1 - Raised platform at rear of main stand

When the Stadium was completed in 2009 it was built to comply with the Gold Standard. However the rules have been altered and because the Stadium does not have a raised viewing platform for 10 wheelchair spectators and carers it has been relegated to Silver Standard. Consequently the Club has decided to install a metal 10 wheelchair and carer platform situated in the press area at the back of the main stand. Access will be through the main doors, up in the lift and out past the PA announcers position.

The club has acquired a quotation for the work from Paisley Pumps Ltd and have applied for a grant from the Scottish Football Partnership and this will be considered by them at their next meeting on 17th February. If this application is successful the work will be carried out during the close season. If it is not successful other types of funding will be pursued. Hopefully we will have good news for you at our next meeting on 22nd February.

The Club intend that the platform will be for the use of and administered by SMDSA members only. We would obviously have to have a meeting in due course to decide on how we would organise the access in order that whatever system we decided would be both transparent and fair. The Club would inform all who apply for wheelchair season tickets at the time of purchase of this facility and the need to become a member of the SMDSA. Presumably this should result in us attracting new members.

Phase 2 - Moveable shelters at the south west and south east corners of the ground

The contractor who has quoted for the raised platform has agreed to investigate the various alternative types of shelter which could be adapted for our needs eg dugout type, bus shelters or bicycle shelters etc. The plan would be that the ground staff who removed the practice goals just before kick off would move the shelters in to position. Wheelchair spectators would purchase their seats as normal but the shelters would be there for use if the weather was particularly bad.

Alan Wardrop is on the board of the St. Mirren Community Trust and has agreed along with me and Johnny to help organise an application for funds from various charitable trusts to cover the costs of the movable shelters.

I trust the above is clear but if you have any queries feel free to contact me.

    Regards

    Iain Laurie (Secretary - SMDSA)
