McGinn and Tansey are far too static for a midfield two

Despite the comeback it's reasonable to have concerns about left back, who plays on one of the wings, how static our midfield two pairing were at times today, and an all round lack of pace in the team.

It felt that any balls in behind the midfield just weren't tracked. Thankfully Alloa just refused to put the ball into the channels in behind us the entire second half, as we struggled with one on one foot races.

The new signings all performed well, and hopefully they continue to hit the ground running. At times Tansey and McAllister did look a bit short of match fitness, thankfully the latter's quality shone through.

Couldn't honestly care less about how Alloa or Jim Goodwin feel right now. They couldn't beat us with a 2-0 start and a man advantage with 22 minutes left. History never remembers performances. Only results matter.
At this stage after our battering in the first half of the season we should be focussing on how much a win like this can have on our players morale. We really shouldn't be thinking of anyone else IMO.

Time to go 5-3-2 or 3-5-2. To counter the fact we have no wide players and are pretty awful at the back and in the middle.
 
Gives our front men the support the midfield hasn't given them this season.
 
Hibs are on a poor run, so we need to be stuffy and frustrate them as long as possible.
 
Unfortunately I can't see us doing anything of note, but it'd be nice to see us actually look like we could grind a result if we got a few breaks of the ball.
 
 

Definitely. It wasn't an easy position to be stepping into, but we should never be hiring a manager in the hope that he signs loads of new guys to turn it around.

I'm not saying he needs to be sacked immediately. But was asking how many more games does he actually get at the current rate of points accrued

I personally disagree. The size of our club, and football in general means that managers have to work with what they inherit.

The days of managers getting multiple years without success, are thankfully gone. Few clubs are in a position that it's acceptable to allow managers to rebuild the entire team.

I think it's perfectly reasonable to be questioning performances and definitely results so far. It falls at the managers door. He had a prolonged period to work with the team during the international window and I don't think we look any more organised than what we did under Stubbs. It's basic play that saw us meekly surrender to Accies.

Managed to watch the game online using Saints TV for the first time. Well I was wrong, Hearts didn't get anywhere near as physical as they did at Tynecastle and it somehow played into our hands.

Make no mistake this wasn't a brilliant or a dominant performance, it was workmanlike and for the majority of the game it looked like we lacked the creative spark to create any chances that weren't from a second ball after going long or the ball breaking behind their defence. Fortunately Hammill looked up and gave us something to fight for.

Despite keeping a clean sheet we left a lot of open spaces and gave away too many easy chances. Which would have been punished on another day.

But that was so much better than the dross we've had to suffer for the entire season. That level of work rate is a minimum now, we just need to add in some quality.

Hearts should have been 1-0 there. McLean all by himself at the back post and somehow missed the target

That team gives me the fear, it's incredibly lightweight. The game at Tynecastle Hearts bullied us all over the park, I don't see anything other than a repeat today.
