Surely that's obvious. SMiSA need an ally, preferably someone who has at least some access to cash if required. Whilst, from the other side, it seems the only way Gordon Scott can recover any of his investment in the club is to either sell his shareholding to Douglas Street to help them conclude a 75% share deal - or for him to become the owner of the 75% shareholding himself before then selling the shares back to the clubs supporters.

I, and I Am sure, all saints fans share the OP's frustrations, and will to make something change for the better.
I believe Smisa provide the best long term option to save the club, and make no mistake it now needs "Saving". The revenue streams are drying up, people are voting with their feet, parachute payments will end, and if relegated the whole structure of the club (as is) would become completely unaffordable.
We are constantly told the club is "debt free"... Strange that a "debt free" club is continually paying back loans needed to pay the wages.
£245k in the last accounts, what will be needed, and will anyone provide it if we are relegated again?
Ironically with all the rain we have seen recently the message should have got through to us...."Join, increase, fund raise for Smisa.... It's time to build the Ark before all is swept away"
Who else will save our saints?

Surely he was only lookng to get his money back in two of the three bids, the third was a six figure sum of his money for the consortium's shares and to invest in the club. Also, his shares and Ken's shares were part of the £1.5 m figure for the Argentinian group when we were in the Premiership so surely the 52% is worth under £1 million on it's own.

this is exactly what happened a few years back, 'unissued' shares (effectively shares that the club hadn't sold) were made available and smisa members contributed to and bought a total of 1877 and 2000 blocks of shares, meaning the cash paid was invested directly into the club. coincidently, much to the trusts frustration, after a period of time these became 'no longer available' ! and soon afterwards the consortium came into being with a collective shareholding of 52% !
actually now that I think about it, the money provided for Stewart Kean meant simsa received unissued shares for it. which kinda brings the original post back into perspective
the government ruling is only at the proposed / review stage at the moment and not yet Implemented, that said if it was law and a supporters trust did have first option to buy they would still need to meet the asking price set by the sellers ( or administrators).
at the moment however this is still the ambition of simsa whether the proposal becomes law or not, this is still being worked on and progressing steadily.

I think it's as much to do with football generally where numerous factors contribute to the apathy across the whole country, whether it be football authorities and the changes within the game or civil authorities imposing their will and petty rules (which they reserve only for football) on the clubs and supporters, and short term cash being the main driver in modern football.
that coupled with our clubs gradual decline both in standing in the league and standard of football for the past several years
attending football was exciting in previous years whatever league we were in as there genuine effort and enthusiasm from our team and our support, although there were many downs certainly none seemed as extensive and ongoing as the current low we all currently feel
the main worrying point that continues to come across in every aspect of social media, forums etc is that due to our situation more saints fans than ever are becoming emotionally detached from the club for the sake of their own sanity.
After many games when encouraging the team even when the game seems lost, you can only do that so often, until you realise you are wasting your time and effort, hence the poor response to the new manager being introduced to the home crowd

If the board seriously want to raise revenue then they can sell shares to the general support or smisa.
What do they control now, approx 75%?
If they did that then at least you will receive something meaningful for your tenner.

Three season tickets a year 3 St.Mirren tops 2 tickets to the anual dinner. Then add away games pies and drinks for 3!
That's how much I put in every year add to that the size able contribution in the envelope at the end of season dinner...
Would I then put in £10 a month to pay for player's wages! Probably yes...
But I would not give a penny to the Board AGAIN and ultimately they control wage budget!
And would the BOARD use this as a tool to invest less?
The Board are going to have to cut there loses and except that because of there poor decisions the club is worth less!

Missing the premier, nope. Would i miss the championship if we dropped outa that, nope.
What I am missing is my club,St Mirren, playing with a belief, a shape and some hope. I'd follow us in any division, anywhere, just get something into the team that is worth the hope of the support.
Scottish football as a whole is pish, the Scottish Premiership is often barely the equivalent of the Vanarama conference ffs. Indeed the conference hosts games that look better attended and more competitive than our top league. The Scottish game is utterly unbalanced as we all know, but that doesn't excuse the general all round lack of ability neither does it justify the self preservation short termist administration that ruins the game completely.
I'm torn , I hate Scottish football and the crappy leagues , the synthetic surfaces and the part completed stadia with dodgy attendances, BUT I love St Mirren.
It would appear I am f**ked then........

Based on yesterday's performance this time next year we will be reminiscing "Missing the Championship" - because we will be in League 1.
Many Saints fans will have their own memories of their worst ever Saints performance but for me nothing plunged the depths more than what I witnessed yesterday (and I have been supporting St Mirren for over 60 years). I would frankly be struggling to give any of yesterday's team pass marks.
In more ways than one, there were no silver linings to the dark clouds hanging over the club. Our defence leaked like a sieve (from goalkeeper out), our midfield was non-existent in terms of creativity and perhaps you could only excuse our forwards because of the paucity of what was behind them.
Most concerning of all, was the lack of fitness, competitiveness and appetite for the game.
There is something seriously amiss and it's not just footballing ability.
Alex Rae has a daunting challenge in front of him and I genuinely wish him well.
Even the local council can't get their act together evident from the disgraceful state of the approach roads to the ground - particularly Murray Street. You either had to leap over ankle-deep puddles, covering the full width of the pavement, or risk walking on the poorly lit road and getting struck by a car. What kind of impression will this give to visiting fans? What an advert for Paisley and the newly branded Paisley 2021 Stadium!
