For what it's worth, have to say I've been getting pretty fed up with the forum of late due to the sheer volume of trolling and multiple aliases crippling any decent discussions. Was actually going to chuck it if I'm brutally honest, both viewing and contributing (I use the term loosely!).
However this is a really decent thread on the whole. A lot of opinion backed up with informed and even emotive arguments. Minimal troll/multiple aliases adding shyte to the pot.
Whether for or against, the Qatar WC in 2022 is probably worth keeping an eye on. If we end up having to monkey around with our domestic schedule then it could be that there is an almost enforced trial of sorts. For example, take the pain and switch to summer football in 2020, run the trial until 2024, with full reviews / critiques during and after. If it's p!sh chuck it, if it's good extend the trial. No question that the change is grief laden, but if Qatar forces it then it could be an opportunity to appease both sides of the argument.
Anyway, I came in to it with the comment 'I appreciate the complexities and concerns with doing so. It's a non-trivial change for a multitude of reasons.'
I'd say I'm even more of that opinion now, and have learned a lot from both sides. The forum doing what it does best!

Lord Pity us all, having to read your mundain drones about Dumbartons signings! This thread is a disgrace! We have a new manager at the club, it should be an exciting time for us all. Just like the rest of us he is entitled to his holidays, which would have been ok'd by our board. On his return I am sure he will get on with the job in hand, and I for one will give him my support.
I hope to God Ian Murray never takes an extended lunch break, as I couldn't cope with that thread!!! St.Mirren need our support now more than ever, but I suppose its easier to slag off , complain and be negitive! Does anyone else think we've not signed anyone yet because the season is only just finished and we've only just appointed a new manager who by his own admission is still to speak to a few of our players(therefore we don't know who will accept new deals, pay off etc).

Whilst that comment isn't to be taken seriously it would be a mistake for FIFA to go down the UEFA/SFA route and run their organisation for the benefit of a few rich associations/clubs. Like it or not Blatter has tried to spread football wealth around the world, admittedly much of it has went into the pockets of bent officials but it has made a difference in smaller associations in poorer parts of the world.

Tell them to phone you back when they can't fill their tables and are giving spaces away just to make it look full.

Gary was a fantastic player for St Mirren and will always be remembered for the part he played in bringing the league cup to Paisley for the first time in our history. A genuinely good guy who conducted himself with great dignity while working under extreme pressure with another managers squad.
All the best Gary you deserve to succeed in the future as an up and coming young manager, I for one would like to see him back one day at the helm proving himself at the club he genuinely loved working for.

Not being funny but I wouldn't mind ... proper clear out ... Jim Goodwin can be a liability at times ... all be it he has his games but I wouldn't be overly bothered if he was let go for new younger players to come in... or ... to keep other players
