I was at the 3-0 game at Fir Hill on 10th November 2013 with Simon, my mate of 39 years, his nephew Keith, and another best friend Jim. Jim, Simon and me had stood on the Love Street North Bank from a young age - I lost count of the number of games we saw, home and away.
10th November will forever be etched in my brain. We had an excellent day out - beers, watching the Saints win, curry and laughs - exactly what best mates should do. Shortly after midnight I said my farewells to Simon and planned to do it all again a month later away to Motherwell. I walked one way, Simon walked the other. Shortly afterwards some random bastard killed him for no apparent reason. I was the lucky one. Not only is this an attack on my best mate, it's an attack on society - it could have happened to anyone reading this.
I can't bring myself to attend tomorrow - do Simon proud Saints.
The murder trial begins on 9th June. Justice for Simon.

I’d prefer County to Hibs ending up 11th. For one reason it means I could still get to visit my niece & nephew in Edinburgh when Saints play there but, mainly, it’s to see Derek Adams whinge & squirm his way back to the 1st Division.

Up until now all I've wanted was for us to avoid the play off spot, but yesterday's result coupled with Ross county's manager giving yet another whiney interview blaming everybody but himself for a defeat has made me greedy - I now want them relegated.

A question to which my response may flummox you (and I'm sure of a similar response from football followers throughout Scotland) is the one about how much more or less one would wish to pay for various matches.
What pricing policy would attract me to a match involving top of the league?
In England I understand people would want to see the stars of arsenal, Chelsea, Man U etc but I actively avoid games involving Celtic and their fans. Hence I'd need to be offered massive discounts to share a stadium - even Saints home ground - with them.
I am NOT alone in this and that answer may skew your expected results.
Ps It was the same in the olden days with Rangers and their fans, when they existed.

I would agree that, roughly speaking we are in teir 2 with the kilmarnocks, falkirks, hamiltons, motherwells, Thistles etc. but as the all-time league shows Third Lanark as a relitively successfull team maybe the here and now is more important. I understand that many are dissappointed to be below ICT or the Fakes but last year Ross County were up there and look at them this year. Killie and ourselves have both recently been low down the top league, League cup winners and failed to push on from there and are still in very similar positions.The biggest differences that I can see are we've tended to stick with our managers while killie repeatedly change theirs and of course, the debt. It's very important to stay in the top flight as Falkirk and Hamilton fans will tell you after years in the lower division but at least ourselves, Ross County and Thistle could survive a relegation, I'm not sure the same could be said for Killie. I've seen us win the second teir of scottish football several times, seen us play top sides in european competitions, win a challenge cup, a scottish cup and a league cup and to be honest thats enough to make me happy that I support Saints and more acheivements wouldn't help if we ended up a Rangers, clydebank or third lanark.

Any St Mirren fan who doesn't have complete respect and gratitude to these guys who saved the club from extinction are either not aware of the facts or are completely ignorant and ungrateful.
The fact that these guys have no more money to put in, and after 15 years or so want to to take their money back and hand over the reigns to someone else isn't a crime. They also want to sell to someone who has the club's interests at heart, or who will do the right thing by the club, and these types of buyers aren't falling over themselves to buy us.
Again I will say, I'll take relegation every time rather than the fate that would have awaited us had the current chairman and directors not stepped in and kept us in existence.

Goodwin banned but I'd have dropped him anyway along with Newton and Wilde, to be honest there are a couple more who could do with a couple of games warming the bench but we don't have an embarrassment of riches to bring in. On his game Newton is a fantastic player but he hasn't been on his game for a while, Djemba Djemba isn't up to speed yet and could yet prove to be a dud for us but his passing has been excellent so I've kept him in the team instead of Newton, Teale could be out for weeks along with Goodwin if video evidence is used against him and Magennis and Wilde have yet to show that they could improve the team. Back to a passing game try and get Campbell and Mclean close to Thommo when we are in possession and most importantly move the ball on quickly and have a real go at killie from the whistle.
