Michael Tidser

You didn't see his goal?

Against part time Brechin?

He played well in that game and is clearly very good that level, I could see why he was the SFL2 POTY when he came to us.

Sadly, he's not got the technical ability to play in the SPL.

Morton have rejected a £50,000 offer for captain Michael Tidser from Rotherham. (Daily Express)

He's clearly highly rated by both clubs, don't think there's any chance of us bothering with that kind of fee even before we have Gowser. Meh, who's caring? We have Gowser!

Are you sure?

Saints boss Danny Lennon is on the trail of three young starlets as he looks to bolster his squad ahead of next season.

Express Sports can reveal that the St Mirren gaffer is tracking Morton’s Michael Tidser, along with Livingston duo Stefan Scougall and Marc McNulty.

Lennon admitted that all three midfielders have caught his eye in the Irn Bru First Division this season – and hinted that he would love to give them a crack at the SPL.

Tidser, 23, has played more than 100 times for St Mirren’s old rivals and has become a key figure in manager Allan Moore’s squad after scoring 11 times this season alone.

And Scougall, 20, also has an eye for goal, scoring six times for Livi, while team-mate McNulty, also 20, has found the net 11 times.

Manager Lennon, though, is not expected to look to the transfer market until the future of his existing squad of players is determined.

Lennon’s side still aren’t clear of relegation, so it would be folly to bolster his squad until their status in the SPL is absolutely certain.

But there is no doubt that the Saints boss does have one eye on players for the 2013/14 campaign.

He said: “There are one or two good players out there. Michael Tidser from Morton has always caught my eye.

“There’s a few other younger ones at Livingston, Stefan Scougall and Marc McNulty."

I thought it was pretty common knowledge that we were interested, whether or not an approach was ever made is a different story. Either way it seems like we'll be priced out of this one. We couldn't match, never mind top the £50k that's already been rejected. I would imagine he'll end up at Rotherham, they'll come back with more money and a nice fat pay check for him. Morton have most likely just rejected that bid to squeeze a bit more money out of the deal, and rightly so.
