FTOF
Madness, madness, they call it madness. Indeed. I'll need to be careful when I'm driving in my car, in that area.

civilsaint
High St opens up to traffic on Mon at 18:30. Now here's the good bit.....The only access will be from Moss St via County Place and Gilmour St,past the Cenotaph on to the High St.There will be no entry from Gauze St or St Mirren Street. This means if you're at the North End of Town you won't have the drive round the one way system to access the Town Centre. Re-opening the street to cars in its current form is utterly ridiculous. 2 previous attempts have failed, the public in general are not on board, yet the council bow to the wisdom of a few pound shop retailers. Half arsed scheme that should never have got off the ground.

dave.j
Christ, I was being tongue in cheek, when I said they'd done bugger all to make pedestrians aware of the change. Was down at Gilmour Street today. Low and behold. They've done bugger all.
civilsaint
I would find it hard to describe the works undertaken to re-open the high street as anything other than negligent. And that isn't a word that should be used lightly. The finished "scheme" is nothing short of shambolic. Everyone and anyone involved in it should embarrassed and ashamed. Not only is the delineation between pavement and road almost non-existent and the signage inadequate, but they've actually left granite plinths in the middle of the fecking carriageway. civilsaint
Being keen on it is the least of our problems. If this is representative of how Renfrewshire Council manage road safety across the area then we've got problems.

You only have to look at the battle damaged road surfaces in the area , that they turn a blind eye to know that , road safety is low on their priority lists. . FS
So do we have any stats yet on how this post 1830 drive by trade is benefitting the High Street's 0900-1730 retailers ? ????
