salmonbuddie
I think it's a reasonable, light-hearted, point to make. Religion, generally, doesn't have a great track record when it comes to atrocities carried out in its name by deluded individuals/organisations. Religion, generally, doesn't have a great track record when it comes to atrocities carried out in its name by deluded individuals/organisations. The point I would make is that it is more generally "humans" religious or not that don't have a great track record. For every crusade there is a cultural revolution. ..... pozbaird
REA is a sleekit' sneaky so-and-so..... Posters argue that in six months time those churches will see a fall in attendees. He invites said posters to join him by visiting the church in six months time. Bingo - seven B&W Army posters rack up with REA and the church attendance soars by eight people. Boosh, attendances on the up. REA wins, seven B&W Army posters need to put down their tambourines and buy him a beer. Played a blinder. So simple in its execution. Have a greeny. Praise the Lord. FTOF
The worst atrocities in the last century were carried out by regimes with a secular agenda to remove religion from public life. What about the centuries before that when religion pretty much ruled the roost?
salmonbuddie
The worst atrocities in the last century were carried out by regimes with a secular agenda to remove religion from public life. That doesn't change what I said, though, an atrocity is an atrocity no matter where it sits on the "badness" scale. You'll note that I don't blame religion in my post, I blame the interpretation of the religion by deluded individuals/organisations. That's as true of the secular agenda, it's down to individuals perverting ideals to suit themselves. Or human nature, if you will.

pozbaird
So you coming then? I go to my own church on Sundays. It has 18 holes and a bar at the end. I say a wee prayer every time I go, but as yet, have still to witness a miracle on my way round. The great God Titelist just ain't listening. FTOF
No chance of ever finding me in a church. Indeed. As a former Elderslie East Church sunday school hide and seek champion, I can attest to the fact that churches have loads of places that you can hide in. FTOF
They would certainly never find you in Elderslie West Church, either . . Indeed. One was not forced to attend our holy rivals place of worship. I did however play as a "ringer" for their BB football team.
