Being A Christian

Seems appropriate to give this a bump...and a photo of a new church opened yesterday in Partick for those that think that churches are just closing doors rather than opening

Sure that isn't the 1877 Club? Must be, there's a bunch of absolute balloons sitting up the back.

Yesterday was Easter Sunday to be fair.

Id be very surprised if they were getting packed attendances in 6 months time.

A more realistic picture might be seen in the dollowing article.

Another article at the end of last year reads even worse for religious people.

Its not just the UK either.

Doing well for someone who left the thread in disgust a few weeks ago.

OK then....tell you what.

In six months you come along with anyone else on this thread and we see together if it is busy or not.

How about it?

A good we are having an argument centred on religion.

What could possibly go wrong?

The invitation is of course open to your good self.

If you can come up with an equivalent to propose to myself in reverse I will happily consider the quid pro quo

I think it's a reasonable, light-hearted, point to make. Religion, generally, doesn't have a great track record when it comes to atrocities carried out in its name by deluded individuals/organisations.

The point I would make is that it is more generally "humans" religious or not that don't have a great track record.

For every crusade there is a cultural revolution. .....

Might as well I suppose but it wont change the overall trend reported in all of those links, at lewst one of which is from a religious website.

The worst atrocities in the last century were carried out by regimes with a secular agenda to remove religion from public life.

REA is a sleekit' sneaky so-and-so..... Posters argue that in six months time those churches will see a fall in attendees. He invites said posters to join him by visiting the church in six months time. Bingo - seven B&W Army posters rack up with REA and the church attendance soars by eight people. Boosh, attendances on the up. REA wins, seven B&W Army posters need to put down their tambourines and buy him a beer.

Played a blinder. So simple in its execution. Have a greeny. Praise the Lord.

That doesn't change what I said, though, an atrocity is an atrocity no matter where it sits on the "badness" scale.

You'll note that I don't blame religion in my post, I blame the interpretation of the religion by deluded individuals/organisations. That's as true of the secular agenda, it's down to individuals perverting ideals to suit themselves. Or human nature, if you will.
