I was not professing. I was merely relaying what I believe is an accurate reflection of those who are in control of our countries. I don't see any issue with the statement. Both Blair and Brown were most definitely right of centre. They believed in "trickle down economics" which, by its very nature, will NEVER work to the benefit of the actual workers. Those who actually produce the wealth.

To clarify Starmer's position in the political spectrum of the PLP, three questions to him would be interesting.

Firstly, 'Where did you place Jeremy Corbyn in the PLP (Parliamentary Labour Party)?  Answer, 'In the far, extreme Left'.

Secondly, 'Where do you place yourself?'  Answer, 'I have reflected the broad church of the party's outlook and will continue to do so, so I am in the Centre of the PLP'.

Finally, 'Please name a MP on the Right of the PLP...?

End of story.

I don't think AI could take over my job as I don't think anyone would want to write a program that does nothing.

Don't worry, I'm sure you, Faraway and Cookie Monster are safe as even AI and Robots would have a riddy cleaning out the toilets at Burger King! :P

Hey, Faraway does KFC and Cookie does McDonald's - don't dare lump us BKers in with those lowlifes.

Society should respect its cleaners! Just imagine your toilets at work didn't get cleaned! In my eyes, there's nothing demeaning about good, honest work that is absolutely essential.

As a student I spent the summer holidays working as a kitchen porter. It coincided with me shaving my head, and it was interesting to see how people treated me. The KP team consisted of me, two ex-cons, a clearly low IQ man with a speech impediment and a disabled boy. However, they had such difficulty recruiting that they paid considerably more than the <21 minimum wage at the time, which was all the incentive I needed. It was hard work and we were seen as the lowest rank in the kitchen hierarchy - shouted at by the chefs and treated with a mixture of disdain and wariness by the young waiting staff. Nine hour shifts of hard graft.

I had several jobs like that from the ages of 15-22 and I think it made me a better person. After being made redundant in my late 20s I worked in a 24 hour garage for a couple of months whilst I found other work, too.

"I don't trust anyone who's nice to me but rude to the waiter. Because they would treat me the same way if I were in that position" - Mohammed Ali.

I'm sorry, I wasn't intending on belittling anyone or any profession.  It was supposed to be a tongue in cheek remark, hence why I put the :P in.  Slarti even came back with a really funny reply also which I appreciated.

Everything you say in your post is correct and i fully agree with.  I didn't know that Muhammed Ali said that however, so I did learn something from it all.

No offence taken and absolutely no need to apologise! :)

It was simply a comment on how society views jobs like that, yet they're absolutely critical. I was chatting with a cleaner in my office a while back and she told me that she used to work in a school and some of the teachers wouldn't speak to her; she said they quite literally would ignore her, even when she greeted them. Clearly, that's a single person's anecdote and certainly doesn't reflect the attitude of all teachers, but it does demonstrate how some folk regard those who do such work.

Why oh why does this government not focus on our own difficulties ( poor ferry service to islands, NHS waiting lists, drug deaths, housing crisis etc) why are they so willing to waste time in Parliament on an issue they have absolutely no influence over? I can see it now, Hamas and the IDF throwing down the guns and sharing a haggis supper because the Scottish Parliament voted for a ceasefire.

I have been following this over the last week and can’t help but notice the similarities between the U.K. and Netherlands when it comes to the issues that were discussed by the electorate as important, the Dutch have a terrible housing crisis with the average house price being around £330000, they have what they term a “crisis of existence’ with electricity/gas prices very high, they have food banks being used by the lower middle classes for the first time ever, they are concerned about uncontrollable immigration and they want a “nexit”  If you only took heed of the U.K. MSM you would not be blamed for thinking that these were all problems because of the Tory government, however it appears to be a Western European problem.

@ALBIONSAINT is correct, IMHO. I also think France might be next with Le Pen.

As for Nigel Farage, he's clearly a controversial character who seems to divide public opinion, however even if you don't personally like him then one should appreciate that he's giving the electorate a wider choice, which is surely a good thing in a democracy? The electorate should have options, otherwise there's little point in it. We could live in North Korea, after all.

Why I would say is that without a media that reflects all aspects of the political spectrum, democracy does not work, given it's enormous potential to influence people. However, the rise of social media is making even dissident opinions heard, which is a good thing.

No way , these two are far to centre right for me. I would be Javier. He has his work cut out though, 150% inflation and 60% poverty rate in Argentina. That’s the result of 40 years of socialism.

The {glesga burd} Michelle Mone 200 million smackaroonies story broke in January 2022 it took BBC Scotland 5 months to report anything aboot it

Meanwhile when the news broke that £60 quid had gone missing from the SNP's Jam Jar they were all over it like a rash and blanket covered it for months on end

The sort of biased reporting that gets on yer Tits

Can you see a link here Albion

Comparing apples and pears (no pun intended with Michelle) Mrs Mone case was not a criminal case, still don’t think it is? Morally very dodgy but not criminal. The £600k that went missing involved the highest public servant in the land and her husband and was a criminal case from the start. Do I think the beeb is biased, absolutely, but not with the example you provided PS.
