Lennon was chased out of the club in the end, and look how well it's worked out for us. The old saying 'be careful what you wish for' comes to mind.

I think if Ross County were ahead of us and by a considerable amount of points, the board would consider TC's position.
As long as we are where we are at the moment, they wont do a thing about replacing him.

Graham Carey was rotten for us in his second spell. Had a handful of incredible games at left back in the cup winning season but that was about it. I think the club were justified in releasing him at the time. He was in last chance saloon when he signed for County and it looks like it gave him a kick up the back side.
Imrie and Harkins didn't perform for us. They are the kind of signings that can make the manager lose his job ( which happened ). Imrie gave 100% everytime he wore the stripes to be fair to him, unlike Harkins, but he didn't put in 1 single performance that matched the days he ripped us apart for Accies and even Morton. Harkins is suited to Dundee, they get the best out of him but even their fans have criticised him for being lazy at times this season. Our fans were always going to turn on them 2 .
McGowan was a great player for us. Would have been nice to keep him on but i don't think his performances in his final season justified a new contract with a huge wage. His career was hanging by a thread and i dont think TC fancied taking a risk on him. Seems to be running the show for Dundee but if he has even 1 more minor off the field issue he is in deep bother. He certainly was Danny's boy though. If DL was still in charge this season I think he would have done everything in his power to make McGowan stay.
I don't think DL knew how to accommodate Harkins and McGowan in the same team. McGowan was wasted playing deep and Harkins wasn't justifying Danny's faith in him. I think a couple of them would also have been poisonous in the dressing room and the management lost control over them.
Many believe Harkins was signed to replace Gowser in the first place and it was to late to withdraw his contract when McGowan shocked us all by staying. I don't believe keeping these players would have prevented the state we are in just now. They seemed to be strolling through their careers and got a bit complacent, especially Carey. I was hoping for most of them all to go down South because its the StMirren way, they would come back and haunt us.

Craig Levein and Gordon Strachan are evidence of what a new manager can do with the same players available.

Not defending Tommy in any way but he was offered a job and accepted it. He would be on more money and thought he could do the job. I think there is too much personal stuff being stated here based on anger, frustration etc but this is now a decision for the Board to make. I don't dislike Tommy and simply believe he was/is the wrong appointment. He won't walk away as it's his livelihood so he will either be sacked or allowed to carry on. The repercussions for the club - for its sale and, in the meantime, survival as a top league member may be determined by key decisions in the near future.

Didn't want to post straight after game, take time to reflect, but as ST holder for over 20 years it's a real struggle to tempt me back after this, walked away early today for first time and thought that I couldn't care less about returning, really disillusioned with the club at the moment

A much repeated statement on here but one , in this case , that I disagree with. The club is needing revitalised as is the whole of the Scottish game , if this involves taking a wee chance then we should still go for it. If we don't , then years in the lower divisions beckons !

This thread's original thrust still holds true.St Mirren is the youngest team in the league...
    AND...
...Saints are currently better than at least two other teams in the top Scottish league.
This suggests to me that these lads really ARE rather good.

He has the potential to be best person in the team to deliver crosses from dead balls around the box. Anything thst he has hit has gone into a dangerous aeea. Also cant see why he isnt taking the corners as Mcginn and Mclean havent done much in that dept. Hopefully a goal will boost his confidence and he can kick on.

Balls finish reminded of the type that Yardley or Thommohawk would replicate.
I think the big man will be filled with confidence after breaking his duck.

Great three points last night, First half we were dreadful, But our 2nd half was superb, Subs made the difference looked like we had a better shape with McLean back in center mid instead of playing behind the striker in a 4 4 1 1, Osborne was superb the whole game, But credit to all players in the 2nd half,

99/00 season was the best ive ever seen as a saints supporter (being 29 years old) the football we played, amounts of goals scored and entertaining games involved in will take some beating, for that alone Tom Hendrie is a st mirren legend to me.
as for the follwoing season? 00/01 we were a victim of being a properly run club, teams like killie, motherwell, dundee, dundee utd etc etc were spending millions they didnt have on players.
After that season i think his stubborness took over, and things just didnt work out

With all the knickerwetting it's no surprise they keep the club afloat, it's not with the money coming through the turnstiles.

If I was him I wouldn't be happy with being paid less than Cheesy, Mclean, Wylde, Tess etc considering he was voted Player of the Year last season (dont know if he is but I'm assuming).
