CraigyBoy reacted to Oldfellow in Redundancies at the Academy
Is the academy all it's cracked up to be? A few years ago at a shareholders AGM I asked how the value of the academy was measured. I couldn't get a straight answer. I would suggest that one measurement would be cost of running it against what we get in for transfers. I don't know what those figures are but suspect they won't be encouraging. The only other measure could be feeding players into the first team on a long term basis. Again I'm not sure that looks particularly good either. People seem to be obsessed by giving youngsters their chance and that all will be well if we do that but in reality very few make the first team grade. In short it's nice that we have an academy but does it produce the goods? I have an open mind but I suspect it doesn't produce what is required. Hope I'm wrong.

Didn't deserve to lose that, the penalty apsrt, they really never looked like scoring.
We created 3 or 4 good chances, good goalkeeping and a lack of composure cost us but overall we played reasonably well.
let's sit back and watch the "manger's a diddy" posts.

I cannot believe there is any way we would allow SR to chat with Motherwell.... having backed him this summer and also brought in Lasley etc then it's inconceivable we would do anything to change the current dynamic.... Now, SR haters will say its the perfect opportunity to possibly offload him but the message it would send out would be highly damaging and therefore as a statement of intent before we have kicked a ball in anger in the SPL then it has to be " business as usual " and we run with SR...
I would much rather we control the narrative and even considering the prospect of allowing a wank Motherwell team access to our Manager would as I say send out the wrong message...

Why ??
What is the logic in that
If we are looking like being isolated and cut drift then maybe a case for it ..
However, I would take 3rd bottom with a better brand of football and youngsters being developed over 7th place and the turgid shite we have endured for vast parts of the season

Has this now opened things up for Rangers to make an even more derisory offer 🤷🤷🤷
No contract extension accepted so still very vulnerable to another shite offer

Fact is things have changed & quickly- New management team in place and Robbo has certainly got in " his players " - Now , some would say that they need to be allowed a bedding in period ,Others will say this type of result should never happen. Although, if the latter was correct we would never get results ever against the majority of teams in the league who have superior transfer budgets .
The new manager seems to polarise opinion, this in part explains some of the off the wall stuff being posted after 1 game.
Anyway , time will tell and the transfer window isn't complete . I said end of last season the manager was fully entitled to have at least 1 window where he was backed.
I struggle to believe the football could be less adventurous and bereft of attacking intent than the ones witnessed by the teams JG put on the park.
Frankly it was turgid at best under JG
If however we don't kick on I will put my hand up and say I was wrong

We have to prove to the lad that getting probable game time with us is better than twiddling thumbs at a bigger club to then be, quite possibly, let go without seeing a blade of grass beneath his feet in anger.

Given his past record at Motherwell and his wish to play a high tempo game, recruitment so far and his stated desire to blood young talent then he deserves a season at least before judgement.

Considering the "frenzy" that went on last season against Robinson it's a good sign he "seems" to be showing he's a man with a plan.
Of course it's only speculative at this point and the proof of the pudding will be results, as always.
I suppose after the first set of games are completed we'll see if he's the real deal.

Because the agreement Hibs made with us is that we get a 30% sell on of any transfer fee Hibs get for McGinn. We already made significant money when he went to Villa and another hefty sum when they went up, so we do get a cut of any clauses as well.
It turns out Hibs negotiated in turn a 15% sell on for any profit made on McGinn which means they are obligated to give us almost a third of their 15% sell on. Hibs chairman confirmed as much at their AGM 2 seasons ago.
In addition to this, there is 5% set aside in every transfer in world football for a solidarity fee to be paid to clubs that train a player up and the cut increases as the player develops.
In our case, we trained John from 13 (when the fees start to kick in) until 20 and are due 3.5% of any future transfer fee involving him. Hibs trained him from 21-23 and so are due 1.5%.
So for example, based on say, a £30m transfer, the money would be broken down as follows:
£30m transfer less £3m Villa paid = £27m profit. Hibs take a 15% cut of that £27m = £4.05m Hibs pass 30% of that to SMFC = £1.21m 5% of the 30m transfer is also set aside = £1.5m Hibs get 1.5% of that 5% = £450k We get 3.5% of the 5% = £1.05m Hibs make £3.3m in sell on and developmental fee St. Mirren make £2.25m in sell on and developmental fee

When you hear some of the shite spouted from a number of our fans then it's very hard to call the OF. Fact Is there are elements of our own support who are equally as reprehensible in what they chant
Easy to have a go at the OF though

I agree that playing regularly and being somewhat the " main man " is absolutely a lure and a reason to stay.
As a footballer the adulation of a support must feel incredible
However, ultimately, he is a family man and financial responsibility comes as the priority.
Other than this 5 month period he has no real affinity to us - so the emotional bond definitely is reduced
I mean look how quickly Goody& Ross fecked off and they both on paper had stronger ties to the club

CraigyBoy got a reaction from Mainstand Sweary Mob in Speculation Thread
I would be surprised ..
Not because he isn't capable- because he absolutely is & I would love to get him here permanently
But having just turned 28 he is ideal for many teams and I fear multiple suitors 😪😪
If the management team pulled this transfer off then that Is a major coup
