Weather conditions did not help but the early Aberdeen goal set the scene for a dire game. Four, maybe five 'shots' in total throughout game from both teams? We had some pretty, short passages of good possession and passing but really never looked like doing enough in final third to break them down. We just lack the quality and guile to break down teams who sit back. We have a chance in more open games unfortunately this wasn't one of them and Aberdeen did what they do best sitting on a one goal lead

Whether they come to defend or are up for more open game will have huge bearing on result. Hopefully they don't feel need to just defend deeply

Couldn't make the game but was able to watch on telly - really disappointed
We just never looked like doing anything
With Rangers just going out as we kicked off, a victory would not only have taken us to Hampden, it would have given us a 67% chance of getting a realistically winnable semi (assuming Celtic get through) and getting us back to the Scottish Cup final.
Aberdeen are no great shakes just now and we have matched up well against them all season - it should have been a great night.
    A golden opportunity squandered.

Not many spl teams come to st Mirren park and get 11 men behind the ball as often as they did tonight certainly not teams like Aberdeen terrible conditions yet again and we just couldn’t break them down.

Really disappointed to miss out on a wee trip to hampden but some of the reactions on here and social media are way over the top some saying it’s the worst performance of the season away and stop talking shite we have played much worse than that this season.

Well gentlemen, THAT could the game, and points, that makes the difference.
Not a lot more to say, superb, especially after going down so early and getting hammered in the first half.
A lot more comfortable we can be safe after that.

OBVIOUSLY resources are a major factor.
When you get away from the top 2 then it's down to good scouting and a manager that can get the best out of "average" players.

I disagree. 10th is decent by our standards 😂
Still in contention for 9th which isn’t far off our best finish (8th) this millennium. Can’t really see what we’d gain by ousting Goody.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I lay no blame about these transfers to anyone.
Wank Wank Broadfoot basically left us in the shit by stating in the latter stages of deadline day he wanted out. At that point it was pretty much confirmed he’d stay here and rot in the reserves, or just bump him off the wage bill. Goodwin wasn’t left with much choice, there’s no point keeping a player who isn’t going to give his all for you. The blame here lies squarely with Wank Wank Broadfoot, who could have stated his intentions earlier on in the month and allowed us to find the cover needed. And for all you know, if he stayed, it might have been him limping off injured this week and we’d have been saying “oh, we should have punted him now”.
As for McGinn, it’s cash for a player who would have been gone for free. At the time, Hodson was a good replacement, and we’ve known Flynn has covered the position will. Like I say above, had Paul got injured this week for the rest of the season we’d be sat here wishing we took the money. You can’t see who’s going to get injured in the future and when, and the deals at the time made sense. The situation now is worrying, but I have no qualms about how Jim and the board acted regarding these transfers - Wank Wank Broadfoot was a c**t and we did cover the McGinn situation well. Injuries leave us short but had Flynn got injured without these transfers taking place, and McGinn instead of Hodson, we’d be lamenting the same situation.

Inverness beat Livi today - we play Livi next so hope they are still smarting and go on a two game losing streak... Maybes we can get Inverness at home in the 1/4 final of the cup as well?
Well done to Jakubiak today - looks really good and got the goal that keeps us in the cup. It is also great he is off the mark - strikers like to get going quickly... more to come from him we hope.
McPherson, Obika, Foley and the CB's had strong games and Hladky made some key saves too. We surely won on fouls also - so we were not bullied off the park like we were at one time previously...
Our attitude that we would not be beaten was clear today and as cup ties go it was a fairly decent contest - I liked these, even though the weather was awful.
Andreu for Obika was strange though - what about Cooke or even Mullen? Also good to see McAllister back on the field too !!!
We live to fight another battle - but possibly with another injury . . .  give us a break . . .

I am sure it will be a decent crowd for such an attractive tie. However, no one seems to have picked up on the fact it is a holiday weekend for schools so many families, including my own, are away or doing other things. Bit gutted to be missing game, but this might be a factor

Getting a point from that performance was miraculous. Could not understand the formation at outset but particularly when it became obvious that Hamilton were not going to sit back as they usually do. Could have easily been three down at break. Free kick was sublime and missed penalty fortuitous. McCarthy was poor, Cammy and Durmus pass marks. In case anyone had forgotten whilst keeping the opposition out is an important element of the game, creating and taking goalmouth chances is essential to progress. We need to improve in that regard. Refereeing was appalling but not an excuse for such a poor performance against a poor Hamilton team

    Hopeless performance, embarrassing refereeing.
Not sure what Goodwin thought we were going to achieve with that starting XI. Awful decision as well to take McGrath off (who wasn't great but his crosses looked dangerous at least) instead of one of the absolutely ineffective pair of Andreu or MacPherson.

Deserved nothing tonight. We were rotten from start to finish. I know people who were at the game will say the ref was shocking and he was. Our performance was disgusting especially first half. Could have been 3 down in the first half. There was no player except Hladky who deserved more than 1 out of 10. Why do we use the social media rubbish to pick a MOM. Cos I dont think anybody in the stadium thought McCarthy was MOM. People who are picking it are not even at the game. But one would be hard to pick. Could pick Durmus for his goal. But apart that the only other thing of note was how Andreu could clear the stand from 16 yeards. Must have landed on the dome. Play like that against Motherwell and we will be pumped. Bad night. Must do better. Goodys tactics were poor as well. High balls to Morias. What coaching manual did that come out of. Piss poor. Mr Newlands the ref should be seeking a different career cos hes not a SPL ref.

Hamilton game is a real test for obika. They will defend in numbers. The type of game we do not excel in. He must take his chances, otherwise time to move over and give others a chance

Good all round performance today. With one exception. Obika just doesn't have it. He was poor today. How he played the whole game only Goody will know. This guy seriously needs to up his game. Morias made a mistake for the equaliser. And it was a foul on Foley. McPherson was top dog for us today his freekicks and crosses were superb. But tbf they all put a shift in except one. Funny thing is when leaving the stadium it felt like a defeat. Yet before the game I think any if us would have taken a point. But massive game Wednesday night. Lets get behind the team all of them. Coys.

Back four were excellent today. Coming along Easter Rd after the game a Hibs fan asked me who our no 5 was as he thought the guy was tremendous.
Thought by some distance that was Waters best game today. For months I have been saying we would see a lot more from Ilkay if he had a full back supporting him. Well he did today. Waters passed forward instead of inside and overlapped Ilkay providing him space. Ilkay was great today especially in the first half. Biggest bugbear is as usual when the only forward who threatens the most is taken off every single week with 10/15 mins to go.
MacPherson man of the match. Foley good as well.
Morias either isn't listening to what the manger tells him or Jim isn't telling him how to play as a winger because he doesn't have a clue. Constantly moves into the centre leaving Flynn exposed and not providing any width. And when we have the ball he doesn't go forward off the ball to push back their defence but runs towards the player with the ball as all he wants to do is run with the ball at the opposition. No positional discipline - seems to play for himself and not the team.
Though that was Andreu's best game as well in the stripes. I still think he is a luxury player who doesn't work nearly hard enough but he had a good first half.
Obika. How does he stay on a pitch for 90 mins without being subbed?
Anyway, very good performance in a game we should have had tied up at half time but a point is a point. Play like that on Wed and it should be 3 points in the bag.
