Seeing her filthy mug with a Saints scarf on, blatantly muscling in on our big day for a photo opportunity, as I said at the time was the only thing I'd have changed about that day.

In the council's latest winter issue of their Renfrewshire magazine, the Provost, you know the Celtic fan who put on a Saints scarf and hat and took centre stage in County Square when we won the League Cup (even though we beat her team in the semi-final) lists her highlights of the year. She rightly mentions the Mod, rightly mentions the Spree and a number of worthy causes, even the Olympic torch gets a mention. But the single biggest event in the past year... The event that brought joy to a community that needed good news... and thousands onto the streets, did she with her black and white scarf and hat pick the most obvious, major, unforgettable event in the town's and Renfrewshire's history in the last umpteen years? No. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Saints lifting the League Cup for the first time in History did not merit a mention. An event that brought worldwide publicity to our town and Renfrewshire? Not a word.
It really is bad enough when transparent politicians like her jump on the Saints bandwagon. Maybe she'll make the front page of the Paisley Daily Express like she did when she was getting ready to vote AGAINST the club when we needed support for our new stadium and our survival. Shame on her. Next thing she'll be wearing a Falkirk scarf and trying to stand for Labour in Falkirk! No that would never happen???

I'm sure I speak on behalf of all of Simon's family and friends when I say thank you to everyone who took part today. I thought it went extremely well and just looking around the stadium a wee tear rolled down my cheek. Really emotional. Thanks also to Phil for letting everyone know and to the County fans who took part as well.

Just want to leave my condolences to friends and family of Simon, I never knew him as such though did speak to him a few times years ago when I did a wee stint on the door of Borgia and his brother Keith was running it. Seemed a genuinely good guy. Have just learned of the 68th min applause but have shared it on my FB as many others have.
Too many buddies have been taken to young in the last couple of years - let's hope we do them proud today and give them something to smile about up there.

there was a thread quite a while ago about your first saints game. Well this may take some time, but it's time to write it. I grew up in ibrox with my 2 sisters and my older brother. The Richardson family also lived there. My brother was friends with Ferrier and I was friendly with Keith, young Simon was a few years younger and an extremely nice boy. We all went to the same school and attended the same BB company. We spent a long time in each others company, playing football or just hanging around on the local green. I don't know if their parents are still alive but they were very kind generous people who always gave you a sense that they really cared about all us boys. Sadly a lot of boys were influenced by the old firm but I can remember as if it was yesterday Keith saying to me that he supported St Mirren and would I like to go to a game. I went to my first game and was immediately sold on everything at Love Street. From that day Keith and I went to every game home and away, defiantly wearing our scarves walking to the bus stop at the top of Copland rd. After a few wonderful years Keith decided he was heading to London and unfortunately we haven't seen each other since, but I will always hold him in a special place as he was instrumental in saving me from old firm oblivion. Now back to young Simon, he was quite a bit younger than us but I remember he always came across as a gentle boy and when I saw his photo on the BBC he had inherited the strong family features. Simon came from a Family who worked hard and gave to others with an earthiness and sincerity very rarely seen these days. We have lost one of our own and may His memory be honoured in a way that he would want. I hope that this comes across in the way that it's meant. Simons family and friends are constantly in my thoughts and may your love for one another and the healing of time help you through. God bless you Simon

A 26 year old Guy was stabbed to death in his Shettleston flat by seemingly 2 other guys.
The Sun reported quotes from victims friends and neighbours.
    They are ..
    ' he was a loveable rogue '
' he lived life to the full '
' he was a bit of a lad about town but nice. He had no enemies i know of. '
Reading between the lines i came to the conclusion.
What a dreadful thing to happen to such a decent guy.

For 20+ years I went to home and away games and during that time lucky if I missed half a dozen games all in. Over the last 3/4 seasons it has became home games only. At first it was horrendous but you do get used to it, and just now I have to care for my gran every saturday so i am kept busy. You kinda feel out the loop at times tho. Hardly watch fitba on telly anymore either due to my shifts. could I move away and never see saints again - OUCH! but maybe.........

All of this bickering, derailing a thread meant just to promote a local business.... Well done to everyone...
I used to go into Coffee and cream a fair bit, since I work virtually next door in the university, I'm looking forward to popping in soon to see the changes! :-)
