The board backed Danny to the hilt this season.
From winning the league cup in March last year the team won 1 game in SIXTEEN across all competitions. 8 games at the end of last season and 8 at the start of this season. The board did not panic and stuck with it. Almost certainly because of the cup win.
Had Lennon been sacked then few would have batted an eyelid in my opinion. That is a sacking run of form in anyone's book.
The board backed Danny, allowing him to pay off Lee Mair (having already paid off Dougie Imrie and that was having paid money to get him in the first place !), allowing him to ship out pretty much all of his summer signings, and yet still allowing him to bring in 5 more players in January (Kello, Campbell, Djemba, Magennis, Wylde).
The team started 2014 in abysmal form again though, with one win in 11 games, losing 8 of those.
Again the board could easily have sacked Danny at that point but they did not.
I'm guessing that during that time they perhaps thought Danny had taken us as far as they could but that sacking him would have been fairly pointless given we had the security blanket of Hearts to ensure that the worst scenario was the Play Offs.
He could and should have gone during either of those runs. He didn't.
The club gave Danny four years. Danny gave us some good memories, and some bad.
The parting of the ways was neither a back stabbing nor a "plot". It was a sensible move to try and freshen the place up with some new ideas.

Until the club is sold I don't see there being much ambition. The objective will be to maintain top flight status while maintaining healthy finances to attract potential buyers. Even if that means treading water at the bottom of the league.
Aside from the potential unrest. I think the BOD have looked at last season as a relative success and reckon we can have a similar season with the resources we have, potentially on a reduced budget. SG must have choked on his steak & gravy pie a couple of time after seeing how wasteful Danny was with the wage budget.
I doubt there will be a transformation and next seasons not going to be any prettier than the one just passed. Not great from a fans POV, but from a business perspective; remove a wage, remove the pish signings, finish 10th or above, and mission accomplished. I think that's the harsh reality.

Well I don't. Danny is a nice guy in public and because he won a cup he is a club legend.
However, he was well paid to do a job in his time here and he leaves with his reputation intact.
There are plenty of ex players who will tell you a story about being stabbed in the back by Danny, right back to John Potter and Gareth Wardlaw, right up to Lee Mair and 3 seasons worth in between. Forgive me if i lack sympathy now it's apparently happened to him.
He's history, let's move on and look forward.

I just passed SMP and there was about 500 people outside the ground.I thought that's a decent welcoming party for TC.......then I noticed the colours they were wearing.It's the Youth Administration Cup Final tonight.

Touring the Highlands and Islands first stop Loch Leven so we can visit Loch Leven Seafood restaurant which is a cracker. Then on to Sky , Harris , South Uist , Barra then the long sail to Oban for the ferry to Mull then back to the mainland for a night in Tarbet with its many fine eateries.

Yeah, but being able to sing "you're only here to watch the st mirren" as we slot home a third, and have their cash. I'm ok with that.
On topic hibs or county for all the reasons already given. Depending who goes / stays down we could see the return of a highlights show. Should be an entertaining league and worth watching. Just hope we're not in it.

Every other team in the play off mix would love to be in our position, sitting in 7th place with 2 of our remaining 3 games at home.

I think it's quite an exciting prospect to look forward to rebuilding St MIrren 's squad for the SPFL next season. Who will manage the team who will come in who will leave ?
I would like to see Thomson and Teale retained, albeit hugely reduced playing time no doubt , but great for younger players. Other than these two and a midfield built around McGinn frankly I' m a bit meh for the rest, a huge overhaul is certainly odds on..............magic !
One tip for whomsoever takes over the team......... fair warning, please go for pace and width in the team, anything else is just limited gash .

Fairly typical display, a lot poorer than we would have hoped for, but we didn't do any worse than Aberdeen on the day and I don't think we deserved to come away with no points and the Dons didn't deserve 3 points. That's just our fate at the moment.
Dj-Dj was guilty of a needless and ridiculously risky challenge. Penalty or not, the jury is out on his status as hero or villain.
DL is still a rabbit in the headlights. Clueless and tactically naive. With every game that passes it is becoming clearer that we won the League Cup last season despite him rather than because of him. A lucky, timely signing of Isma Gonzalves got us through the semi and the final. His other signings have been bawz.
Let's hope we don't get relegated before he leaves in May.

I wasn't reaching a conclusion, or making a statement of fact. I was just giving my opinion (that's why I started with "it seems"). I think speculation is all anyone has.
I did have a conversation with Lee Mair during the period he was on our books but not playing. That was how he explained his situation at the time.
True to form though; I make a comment about Danny being poorly connected and less than 24 hours later up pops Djemba Djemba!

Not exactly the most flattering write up of a player that I have ever seen, but hopefully he'll be hungry and eager to prove he is worthy of a place in the Cameroon squad.

In fairness, I was just aiming for a a poor play on the word defence.
But money or not, we ought to have a strategy of some sort. This all just seems haphazard. And you can't put that down to lack of funds.
We don't play with wingers, but signed one. We only play one striker, but signed two extra ones. And we haven't managed to get shot of Bahoken, who, if he gets 90 minutes in total between now and the end of the season, I'd be very surprised.
We have a perma-banned DM, and no sensible cover for him. And now just two CHs.
If DL can make this work, then fair play to him. But I am having strong doubts about the wisdom of some of these moves. It feels like we do transfers like I play pool. Hit n hope.
