I feel this might be a bit of selective translation. (Apart from the Paisley shithole statement and, let's be honest, how wrong is he?). If you read between the lines you could interpret some of what he says differently.
Saints fans care so much for their team they'll scrimp to gatr to games.
Saints fans are so passionate they share that passion in their own way.
    And.
He wasn't exactly complimentary re Killie.
We might be a sh*thole of a town but it seems some of us are delicate wee souls!

"Fans in Holland will go to the stadium, watch the match and then go back to everyday stuff. But football is much more a part of people’s lives here.
“That is certainly the case for St Mirren’s fans as Paisley has little else to offer. People here prefer to spend the little money they have left on the club than on their families. Their passion drips from the stands.
“It is not the case that fans in Scotland sing throughout the matches – they swear above all. But the game means a lot to them, I understand that".
In fairness, Tess, the BoD, management and his team mates have done a lot of excellent social re-conditioning in this area. I find it very hard to get very enthusiastic about the club/team/game anymore.
    Well done everyone.

BuddieL reacted to Derek in Spfl Sponsorship
I'm getting brave now, my first topic for discussion.
As it stands the Scottish leagues still have no sponsorship. I wonder if this was a missed opportunity for the SPFL to get some positive media coverage and look to promote some of the many charity organisations out there, a bit like Barcelona did with UNICEF.
I accept that there might be heated discussions about who they may pick but there are always solutions, for example, how about
DEC Scottish Premiership, DEC Championship etc
The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), that would keep many charities happy.
Another option would be to have a different charity for each league.
I appreciate that the SPFL wouldn't get any monetary sponsorship (no better than we are currently), but it might draw in some additional advertising revenue as companies want to be associated with something that is sponsored by a favourable and well meaning organisation.
If our club wasn't so short of cash I'd have liked us to go down that route with our shirt sponsorship. May be it is just pie in the sky, but I'd be interested in peoples views.

BuddieL reacted to Drew in Note To St Mirren Board Of Directors....
This is a statement from Dundee United this morning, addressing their supporters, and explaining their position in the wake of the closing of the January transfer window:
    "Club Must Always Come First
    February 3, 2015
Following the close of the January transfer window last night, The Board of Directors of Dundee United Football Club believes that supporters of the club should have a complete understanding of the Clubs current position.
Firstly, the club has brought in six new high calibre signings. Henri Anier, Paul Dixon and Ryan McGowan are all internationalists with Ryan having played in all three of Australias games at the most recent World Cup in Brazil. Additionally, our ongoing commitment to identifying and developing the best young talent in the game continued with the signing of one of the countrys top scorers, Simon Murray, Scotland youth international striker, Robbie Muirhead, and an extended deal for Nigerian U23 internationalist, Ola Adeyemo.
Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong left for Celtic FC and while we understand the initial negative response in some quarters to their departure from Dundee United, it is very important to keep this in context.
Firstly and most importantly, it is the Boards duty to balance the short, medium and long term interests of the Club at all times. While being an emotional wrench for the club and the players, the transfer of Gary and Stuart was reluctantly, albeit undoubtedly, the right thing to do in the circumstances.
Those circumstances, for absolute clarity, are that both Gary and Stuart made it clear to management that they wanted to leave Dundee United to further their careers elsewhere. Gary had signed a pre-contract agreement with Celtic. The Board had no desire to sell the players however when it was obvious that they both viewed their futures elsewhere it is the Boards responsibility to do the right thing for the Club. That then meant ensuring that the Club realised optimum financial value for the players one of whom had only 17 weeks left on his contract.
It should also be appreciated that in reality, players decide where they will play and not their current clubs. Dundee United has no control over their destination club. On this occasion the lure of European football and increased personal financial reward and security are major draws to young players. Both players ultimately go with our best wishes.
Such deals are negotiated at all times in the longer term interests of the club. This is also a very important point as the Club remains focused off-field on being debt free. The transfer fees received will have the incidental effect of assisting the Club to become completely debt free ahead of schedule.
On-field we are still challenging on three fronts and have no intention of being diverted from our short term aims for this season. We can say that safe in the knowledge that the Manager himself is happy with the result of this transfer window and fully supported the Boards actions.
We have some of the best players in the country and we have the best management team for attracting the best young talent. We trust in the Manager, his coaching staff and the players as an entire squad.
As a Board, we are optimistic about the Clubs future as we know the structure of the Club and the personnel that are committed to the Club, both on and off field, are acting in the best interests of Dundee United at all times.
Finally, the Board of Dundee United Football Club has been made aware of media reports suggesting Dundee United is interested or is involved in talks to buy a football club in Australia. We can categorically state that Dundee United has no intention of purchasing any other football club."
    Well done United.
How hard was that, I wonder?

BuddieL reacted to pozbaird in Nero Blanco Fund Launched
I viewed my monthly DD, originally scheduled to come off on July 31 as helping both 10000hours get their bid through, AND helping the football club, because it is the start of a new era, after a long period of 'traditional ownership'. I would have been happy to see that monthly amount go to a Nero Blanco fund, until such times as the deal itself is concluded. Incidentally, we really need to dig up a signing target called Nero Blanco now... hope Brian Caldwell is onto some agents!
Anyway. I am also happy to donate to this new double espresso with a dash of milk fund - but not at this moment in time. Not until SFL clubs vote. Not until Longmuir, Regan and Doncaster stop fannying around. Not until I know if any of those three muppets will still attempt to gerrymander a Div 1 place for the Sevco Works XI. Not until I know 100% with NO scope for further whataboutery which division the tax dodging cheats will be in. Not until Sky say something. Not until these 'wavering' corporate sponsors speak out. Not until the new season kicks off and we are speaking in hard, fast, monetary loss terms - rather than Neil Doncaster and the SPL suits giving me a vision of armageddon, that even Bruce Willis armed with two space shuttles and a nuclear warhead couldn't fix.
In short, I'll do whatever I can to help 10000hours / St Mirren - but I am sick of trying to cut through what may or may not be bullshit from the three organisations who are frankly getting right on my tits big time.

Oh FFS Somner - if you are going to take the alternative line all the time you are going to have to realise that the majority will tell you that you are wrong. What you need to do is back up your argument with relevant points. At the moment all you do is throw some shit at 10000hours in the hope that one day some of it will stick, and if anyone challenges you over it you go into the foetal position and sob like a baby about big boys bullying you.

Auld Grumpy Nuts at Oid Trafford kept his fight with the BBC going for years. That appeared to be a personal one-man decision, with his assistants being wheeled out for MOTD post-match interviews. Man Utd games were still on the BBC, it was just Fergie that was in the huff.
This appears to be r*ngers FC as an entire club telling the BBC to GTF. Very interesting. I wonder if the BBC will therefore simply stop talking about r*ngers on all BBC radio shows, and won't show their matches on BBC TV shows. I really hope so.
Edit: I've just realised that due to the unique way the BBC is funded, as licence payers, r*ngers are in fact telling US to fcuk off. Their unpaid tax bill also means the cnuts owe US lots of money. Time to shut the cnuts down surely. It's for the best.

Pardon me if this is in the wrong section but it beats the hell out of me where it should be???
The new proposal from 10000 hours is for a Community Interest Company that owns a Industrial and Provident Society...... WTF?
Could you make it more complicated?
The CiC thing is still there but now with an added co-op! although the simple one member, one vote of a co-op, that means any member can stand for election to the one and only board is not part of the deal.
Bizarre! yes..... unexpected??? did you really think the new proposal would involve just one board? C'mon
Sorry again if this is the wrong section, maybes we need a "10000 hours, Community Interest Company that owns a Industrial and Provident Society" type thread?????

    Good summary from Dibble
    Some other points;
798 people have pledged individual support for the CIC
Around 500 of those have returned completed direct debit forms
The 24 target for community members has been reached and surpassed
The corporate membership target is difficult to measure as some corporate organisations are looking to group together to take out joint/group membership. The CIC welcomes this approach but there are some concerns about ensuring voting rights remain fair among the corporate members so this is still being worked through.
There is a 22 page document which outlines the processes and procedures that will underpin the CIC and this document is currently being worked on and refined ready for launch.
The construction of the members bar area will begin as soon as the deal is completed. The design, costings, contractors etc are all in place and the experience of GLS in the project will be very valuable given his experience in the construction industry and the build of the stadium.
Complete aside, but the elimination of Celtic, Rangers and Hearts from Europe tonight will cost Saints "several thousand pounds" due to some sort of UEFA "solidarity fund" whatever that is
Some of the funding to complete the deal is sitting in a bank account but the CIC don't want to draw it down until the full £2m is in place.
There will be an interim football board appointed on completion of the deal who will steer the club through to the AGM which takes place in December. Those board members will be able to stand for election at that time if they so wish. The initial interim board will be made up of individuals within the CIC who it is felt have the best skills to deal with the early challenges. I'd expect GLS and Tony Fitz to both join that board but that part is just my opinion !
GLS will not be "representing the 48%" as such. He feels that divisions like 48% vs CIC are negative and that everyone should pull together and work together to take the club forward once the deal completes.
Deal "should" complete any time now, but after that it will be "around 6 weeks" before all the legal paperwork is completed, the shares change hands, and the CIC becomes the majority shareholder in the club.
The kit deal with JD is very financially rewarding for the club and whilst there have been teething problems (availability of socks etc) the general result of the kit and training kit deal with JD has been very good for the club. There was absolutely no fall out with Alan Provan.
The club retains the rights to the merchandising (ie all the other club related stuff) and is working on improving the club shop. This will merge with the ticket office to allow fans much more accessibility to buy Saints merchandise (and tickets !) as well as up-selling gear when people are in buying match tickets. It was accepted that the club shop could be better but the club is trialling ranges at the moment to work out what sells and does not want to tie up lots of cash in stock. All lines are on very short order lead times so stock will be replenished between home games.
The cash flow problems that have dogged the club in recent years have been worked on very hard over the last year and the current budget, which makes no provision at all for ANY cup cash or extra TV games, should mean there are no cash flow issues, but there is provision to cover any issue in future (through Maxi) if it were needed in an emergency situation.
I think they are the salient points I can remember !
