I got to know him around 1980. He was working at that time as a rep for one of the breweries. He called in the Stirling Castle Bar and with it being a Rangers pub, they gave him a turn. When he realised I was a Buddie, we used to chat now and again. He told me leaving St.Mirren was one of the biggest mistakes he ever made. I think he didn't resign when Alex got sacked but soon after he thought he was persona non grata and resigned. I asked him whether he thought hr would be offered a job at Pittodrie  but he simply shrugged. I didn't push him on it. He really was a lovely guy and so typical of him that even if he did feel a bit hard done by he blamed no one but himself.  RIP, big fella.

Absolutely , sacking Ross would be mental given the rhetoric from the chairman. He's in post now so he needs backing

If you're still doing 50% discounts next Friday you can pick me up at Paisley International. Are you going to the SMiSA event on Friday night?

There is passing on opinion, and then there is being personally offensive towards others who you perhaps don't agree with, and generally, unremittingly negative about all things St Mirren.

Maybe a sizeable percentage of SMISA Members trusted any one of the three gents to do a good job and therefore had no need to vote.
They all seemed very competent to me.

I'm not all that picky about the port I drink. My attitude to port is the same as it is to wine :- drink plonk in restaurants and good stuff at home. At Christmas time and birthdays my kids weigh in with port for me and as in my case they are only a week apart I usually start of the year with a good supply. It seems to vanish awfy quick, though. Evaporation is a terrible thing! The big names like Cockburns, Taylor. Grahams or Croft won't let you down. A bottle of vintage, or even a late bottle, and some blue stilton is a match made in heaven.

Nice thread, FerguslieBud. One a-typical reply from the village curmudgeon. After the bad start of being accidentally born in Ibrox, I lived in Paisley for 38 years before moving to Norn Irn in 1985. My first memories of St.Mirren were when living in the pre-fabs at Gockston I could hear the roars from Love Street. My Dad lifted me over for the first time when I was about three but he said I was a pain in the arse, running round wanting onto the pitch and asking for pies and Bovril all the time. I had a great grandfather who was a cairter and family legend has it he was one of the earliest residents of Cairters Corner. I like to think it's true. I get back home now and again and was there last month. Looking forward to the SMiSA event in a fortnight's time and hopefully meeting some troopers from the Black & White Army.

Sometimes I wonder why I bother running this site, I genuinely do.
Then I read threads like this and I remember exactly why.
    Great thread.

It all startit in the late 60's for me.
The Saturday routine was my Dad taking myself, brothers and sister to Storie Street Baths for a couple of hours of swimming fun in the morning.
Then home for lunch and Football Focus or whatever was on at that time.
Then the Family split up for the afternoon.
Mum & Sister would head for Paisley High Street for shopping, Cafe, etc.
My Dad, myself & brothers would head for Love Street , via Rowan Street to pick up my "Paisley" Papa.
I still think, on occasion, my sister got the better deal.

Great input to the thread fella.....

well you sort of work that out when you speak to different people from different towns, there families and so on, know?
It's pretty much a thread on where you know most Saint Mirren fans from... People I socialise with come from Saltcoats Dalry, Beith, Kilbirnie and Johnstone, Renfrew. Nobody I know personally from Paisley is a St Mirren fan.

I promise you I had no intention of trivialising the procedure. I've read the three passages a few times but in my opinion there wasn't enough in them for me to identify a winner. So far as who nominated whom, I assume that Gordon and Tony realised that some eyebrows would be raised before they came to their decision. Anyway, I still can't make up my mind so will probably pass. I feel really sorry for Kenny having been traduced by you know who. Must be damned nearly libellous.

The Dickhead has also had a pop at David Nicol on the thread about a loyal fan being barred. David Riley will probably be the only one not to enjoy the plus of being rubbished by the prat as Studick endorsed him or whatever the term is. Sorry, David.

my good good (good) personal friend, the CEO of Premier Sports, has asked me to remind you all that the game is on tomorrow.
No connection fee this month and no contract and just cancel 10 days before the next billing date....so, effectively £5 to watch t he game right here http://www.premiersports.com/
enter promo code NI2016 ...one month of Premier Sports for a fiver with our game to start it off.
Of course, I would rather our fans rolled up at the gate and payed the money and supported the team....but many, like me, are out of range, so....like me, watch on Premier Sports.
*Farmer John has not been paid for his words!

Bloody sure he's not. I've had StuDick on ignore since Jesus was a joiner but he's all over our forums because other folk continue to respond to him. He gets the oxygen of publicity. I understand why Kenny had to respond but not the rest of you guys. Ignore him and maybe we might get peace. Can all the guys who feel they have to respond to him please ignore him for a month? Let's see what happens. If you are all convinced he only talks wanky pish, you ain't gonna miss anything.
