As a ginger myself, I'm all for upping the quota of ginger nuts in Saints squads, but we don't need another midfielder, do we?... McGowan, McGinn, McLean, Harkins, Teale, Robertson...Gie's a ginger Thommo MkII.

Would be good to get a win under our belts, hopefully can stick a few in the net second half.

The season kicks off in Scotland today with the Challenge Cup taking place. Going to keep a note of all my football bets this season to see if I actually make any money or if I lose far too much!

My wife was driving along the M8 last night coming from Edinburgh on the inside lane due to heavy rain when she was smacked by a car pushing the drivers door in and smashing all the side windows. Witnesses told police most cars were driving slow around 50mph when this car came speeding along and aqua plained into the side of the wife's car pushing the drivers door in and seating off the side air bags while all the glass along the drivers side smashed. Last night she thought she was ok just a bit in shock , however today she has marks on her chest and has back pain so will visit the doctor later today. Turns out the guy was only 19 years old who aqua plained into my wife. Some young drivers don't seem to be able to read road conditions and think they are indestructible. I see young drivers on the B737 racing a lot at night they have no idea that many drivers are killed on that road every year. The wife seems more concerned about the car as it's only 4 month old. Metal can be replaced but you can't replace an arm of a leg. This is when you wish everyone would just take a bit more care on the roads as it's just not your own health that will affect you.

We are just back from a Sunny training camp in Spain so will be used to playing in this heat. Our passing build up play will knacker Morton out and it'll be goals from everyone.

In the summer of 2011 ( not last pre season but the pre season before ) - aka 2 years ago, or 1 year 10 months for the pedants - the club had a fantastic transfer window. Thompson, Teale, McGowan, Hasselbaink, Tesselaar and Carey all arrived on permanent deals. They were all a success bar one - Carey. A fantastic return without question. Goodwin arrived in January 2011, before all of them.
Since then - since the summer of 2011 - Danny has made 9 permanent signings. They are, in vague order: Haddad, Imrie, Guy, Robertson, P McGinn, Adam, Parkin, Smith and Puri. They are Danny's last 9 signings. Not one of them has managed to establish themselves in the first team. Only 1 of the 9 ( Parkin ) played any part in the LC final by coming on as a sub. Adam was an unused sub and the other 7 failed to even make the bench for one reason or another.
Statistically, that is pretty astounding. You maybe don't expect a Thommo or a Goodwin in every signing, but you at least expect 1 or 2 out of 9 to be able to get a game for goodness sake.
We can't continue to rely on clubs like Newcastle and Rio Ave loaning us players of the standard we were lucky enough to enjoy last season. A club reliant on loan players doesn't strike me as very sustainable.
Therefore, fingers crossed that Dannys permanent signings this summer are far more of a success than his last 9. Harkins is the first of what we hope is many, it will be very interesting to see how he and the other new signings do next season. Danny earning himself a new contract will depend on them.

I would like to personally apologise for my performance tonight. .
That was the first time I've kicked (or attempted to) kick a ball about other than a couple of 5 a side games, since I chucked playing for a team about 7 years ago. Back then I was about 6 stone lighter as well. But I've all but chucked the cigs, and joined the local gym to sort myself out, so was looking to use this to help me loose some weight and get the fitness up. I hope to put in some better performances in the future.
In saying that, I felt I done more than Sam Parkin has all season.
Enjoyed it, but like others said was a bit crowded.

First chance I've had to jump on the computer, E-Mail was in the junk folder, signed up but on the reserve list. Feel like Puri.
Least this gives me some more time to hit the gym and get fitter before making an arse of myself!

As I have no idea if CIC were aware of this or not, I asked for my membership to be put on hold, and ensure no monies were taken until after a decision had been made. Richard kindly confirmed to me by e-mail that no monies would be taken until after the club was sold, and seemed to be quite understanding of the reasoning behind it. My decision to cancel the DDM will be because I will no longer be following St Mirren as a result of the actions of the club.
If 1000hours were not aware, it would be in their best interest to join support with the fans and do everything to help us stop a 1st Division Rangers. Membership contributions could rise IMO if they were seen to be joining forces with us rather than a them and us.
I also recommended that some form of communication was opened to prevent a mass cancelling of DDM.
