Gosport Buddie reacted to Rabinho in Newton Loan Ending
He's extended his loan to the end of the season, which is good news and brings a bit of stability to the midfield.

I believe he has started training this week so should regain his overall fitness by the end of the month but not his match fitness. Good news indeed.

Gosport Buddie reacted to TediousTom in Gowser Assaults Tony Fitzpatrick
A very fair point but ours is not to question. The authority of the court has been passed and the decision is 130 hours community service after the Sheriff has considered all the facts. Considering he (Paul McGowan) already had a previous conviction for assaulting a constable my initial reaction is that the sentence is very lenient, very lenient indeed.
All things said and done however it is now time to move on. Paul McGowan is an adult and if he fails to behave like one in future then I am sure the justice system will not be so lenient. As the sentence is not a custodial one then I see no reason why this would affect his employment with our glorious club and hopefully young Paul and the club can move on from here to better and brighter things.
So my message to Paul is this
"Learn your lesson you wee ned and get on with playing football for my club. You almost lost it all so wisen up, lead a better life in future and be a man my son, be a man."

Gosport Buddie got a reaction from Magic Monkey in January Window Bubbling Away
I'd be surprised if there wasn't a lot more clubs looking at McGinn. The problem that young talented Scots have, is they get seduced by the offer of increased wages at the likes of Bolton or Blackburn. Then it doesn't work out as there clubs are badly run and going nowhere and they end up back home ,tails between their legs, half the player they were before they left. Hopefully John will realise this , stay for a wee while longer, continue developingplaying first team football, before getting a move to a much better club than Bolton !! Anyway Bolton are over £163M in debt,, where's the tranfer fee coming from???

Gosport Buddie reacted to davidg in Dannys Contract Renewal
Agree 100%.
The goalkeeping situation was a shambles.
Panic signing of Grainger when we had a good young left back there. No need to bring in a wage of that level, a squad player would have done.
The Imrie carry on. Transfer fee then shown the door.
Gary Harkins.
The Lee Mair carry on.
Prior to all this, his man management skills have been very poor. Contracts promised and then withdrawn at the last minute.
Tactically he can do it, we've all seen it. He has set the team out and came up with results, big results. Other times his decisions are baffling.
I'm not sure where I stand tbh, I'm probably 60/40 in favour of a new contract.

It quite clearly wouldn't.

Gosport Buddie reacted to leolovesstmfc in Marian Kello
Cambell money was the best st.mirren keeper of all time i would say. I will never forget the day he took the ball of chick charnley when we won a penalty and scored! Scored another the week later ended the season with 3 goals all from penalties. He was with us so long represented the club very well. We had so many good keepers back then goram, lieghton that is the only reason he never got more caps.
Kello is good but can not be considered as a st.mirren best unless he stays for a year or more in my opinion!
hope he stays so we can find out?
I don't know about Thompson never saw him play just before my time...

Fantastic professional statement, we are not lowering ourselves to their level.

Official club statement
"As a Club we were disappointed to find one of our players singled out for criticism by another Football Club both in the media and thereafter on their website. We accept that football is a game of opinions but we find this unacceptable.
As a Club, we have on many occasions been aggrieved by decisions, tackles and challenges made on our players. We have, however, dealt with such matters behind closed doors, via the appropriate channels and in a professional manner.
We are of the view that one Club should not be commenting on another Club’s players in public and feel that these issues should be dealt with by the governing body (Scottish FA) to protect the integrity of the game."

Football was rubbish?
That's how our clubs reached the later stages of European competitions
Our International team played in the World Cup Finals every time they came around
If that's rubbish, what is it now?

Gosport Buddie reacted to stlucifer in St Mirren V Dundee Utd, 26Th Dec 2013
It happened at our ground. It's just not being highlighted.
I would really love it if Lunny looks through all the footage and cites a couple of United players for missed offences! (Keagan style rant there?)

I hope something similar happens at Utds game today with their player guilty ( hopefully Rankin). Be interesting to see wee Jackies reaction!!!!

Gosport Buddie reacted to Drew in The Jim Goodwin Thread
I can absolutely see strength in both sides of this debate.
I think Jim needs to be a bit more cute at times, as we suffer when any player is sent off and/or suspended. The red mist coming down is understandable, but there is more than one way to skin a cat. Deep breath, and a bit of gentle goading and winding up would be sufficient to knock our opponents off their game without flying in too readily.
That said, he is our club captain, and a cup winning hero, and, as such, deserves our gratitude and respect. A witch hunt is wholly out of order.

Gosport Buddie reacted to djchapsticks in The Jim Goodwin Thread
Some of the abuse on here is disgraceful.
By all means give the guy a hard time for his moment of madness, he deserves that. In no way can anyone call him a sustained liability or deny the fact that he's an asset to the club both on and off the park.
Jim's good points far outweigh his bad points.

2 red cards. For a 32 year old in his role of defender/midfielder? Christ, Aber' got more red cards in a two minute spell once than Jim has had in his career.

Dundee United midfielder John Rankin says the Tannadice outfit won't be put off their game by heavy-handed tactics against other sides this season. (Various).......................... I say as shull does 4-1
