He HAD to move to progress his career? Really? We had a new management team in place who are very refreshing in their approach and determination to improve things. Hibs may well work out for John. They are indeed a bigger club. But they are in the same division... the one he didn't fancy playing in yet may well spend the next few years in!
I wish him no malice. I really liked John as a player. I thought much of the criticism he faced was over the top for a young player in a struggling team. However... the manner of his departure leaves a bitter taste and I am not convinced by his platitudes, sincere or otherwise.
Kenny McLean on the other hand... I will continue to follow his career with much interest and support him in his progress to the very top of the game!

Is it right that I feel bitter about this? Here is a guy that was developed by us, given everything he needed to make the step from youth to pro and given the opportunity in Scotland's top league! On top of that he gave zero in return last season, the amount of ball he gave away was shocking! Despite that he was offered the chance to redeem last seasons performances by signing on for this campaign! But he decides nope I'm off to better myself, not to a SPL or some English outfit but to frickin Hibs one of our main rivals this season! I am not usually one for booing returning players but I may just join in if it happens on John's return. Or am I being unreasonable?

McLean was one of the most gifted and accomplished players I seen play for St Mirren - probably since Paul Lambert. I can't agree with the tenacity and work ethic argument. He was simply a different type of player, with a different mentality. In my view, he is the pick of the three. An all-round gifted player with poise, vision, and skill. All the tenacity and work ethic in the world won't top that when you watch a footballer go about his business.
It was an absolute pleasure to have watched McLean at his best.
Too late to talk about missing him now. Of course we missed him (past tense) - we are playing in the Championship.
I don't think the departure of McGinn will have anything like the same impact.

If we play with nine men as a result I suspect probably yes.

In saying that, I wouldn't say Howieson was an out and out left midfielder and he's just signed. He doesn't seem interested in taking his man on at all, and he doesn't seem that quick either. I would rather see him played centrally and us sign a true left winger.

Why don't we give every car driver that books into the car park a voucher that sees them get a future match ticket at SMP for a fiver? Even if they don't support us, they could use it or give it to someone else. Just hand it in at the PATG window and hand over a five spot. If the car owner is an 'Old Firm' fan, they might still pop along to take in a game for a cheap price.

You have a great Club up there in Paisley, a great stadium, great facilities and a great fan base and he will never forget the four months he had up there. He could not have been looked after better, just a shame it was such an awful season for the club, no doubt the club will bounce back.

I really think Div should now close this thread.Marc is a Saint through and through.I have known him since he was a little boy first when his Dad joined the Executive Club before becoming a Director.Marc lived the dream playing for the club he loves.Yes he was not perfect but he is a decent pro and certainly played his part in giving me and my family one of the greatest days im our proud history and we should remember him for that.Life goes on and I wish Marc all the best in his football career and beyond.
