Spot on, these are very important games for the football club. We have two chances to win a cup every year, and this is one of them. We must - and i'm sure we will - take them seriously and we need to make sure we win the group.

    Definitely not Pre Season.
First League Cup match is the first game of the Season.
    No doubt whatsoever.

Great draw, us and four part time teams. Anything that is not top of the group is unthinkable. We should be home to Arbroath and Edinburgh City and away to Cowden and Airdrie.

You imagine or you know? What are the figures? The club must have them, why aren't they being published?
The figure we need is the extra ticketing revenue. Then we take away the additional stewarding / vandalism costs and the lost ticket revenue from home fans in the south stand for those games. Then we can weigh that figure against the less tangible effects of pissing off and displacing several of our fans and the sporting disadvantage of having opposition fans behind both goals in a home game.

As a fan owned club, SMISA reps on the board must be mandated to vote in line with members instructions.  This should include the chairman.  If not, why not?
If anything goes against the wishes of the majority then there are many ways to incapacitate any board of directors where you hold 51% of the voting rights.
Or finally, follow the lead of the above poster and don't go to OF games.  If a substantial number of ST holders stay away the board will have to properly address the issue as it should be in the press.  If all SMISA members stay away it definitely will.
I stopped attending OF matches as soon as the 2 stand thing started.  In fact I'm thinking of putting a motion to the AGM that all ST holders get the same deal as the Family Stand and OF games are excluded from the ticket.

Nah it's certainly more than a few dozen. Anyway, let's hope for transparency. The results of the survey should be published in full and then along with an explanation of why the decision to continue to give them two stands has been made.  Not sure what we need a survey for right enough. Surely a simple yes or no question would suffice...?
It's clear what is happening is the club knows that the majority of fans want the OF to have one stand only. However, the board and the chairman want to continue to give them two. There's now gerrymandering and spin going on before they inevitably announce the unpopular decision. My guess is we will get a mealy mouthed statement in the next few weeks along the lines of:
' The results of the survey were mixed and we appreciate that some fans have strong feelings about this. However, due to the current financial climate the board has decided to continue to offer Rangers and Celtic two stands for the coming season'
    Hope i'm wrong!

Anecdotal i know, but i can count on one hand the amount of St Mirren fans i've spoken to in person and/or online who support giving them two stands. Just need to look at this thread or any of the other various platforms to see that the vast majority who are active on social media are against it. Why don't we put it to a SMISA vote, and then publish the results? That's surely the most democratic and transparent way.
I think we know the answer to why they won't do that, because it will show overwhelming support for cutting them back to one stand ( i guess at least 80/20) and that would go against the wishes of those running the club.
FWIW i'm not that bothered about the one or two stand thing, there's clearly arguments for and against and i don't have strong feelings either way. It's very clear a lot of very loyal fans do though.

I think it's clear this is going to end up with them continuing to have two stands. Despite us being fan owned and the majority of the fans not wanting this. It will be interesting to read the statement from the club regarding it..

It has already been stated that last year our (SMISA nominated) chairman stated that something would have to be done regarding the two stand situation. At the St Mirren FC online AGM the issue came up again with much the same comments.
As a long-term member of SMISA I attended the SMiSA AGM where the club chairman to his credit accepted criticism and described the situation as ‘toxic’. He said ‘we are listening’, ‘we hear you’ and that the board had a ‘working party’ (members unidentified) reporting back to allow the board to make a decision.
At the meeting it was as good as unanimous that one stand only should be  offered to both the clubs who bring bigoted, sectarian and vandalism behaviour to OUR stadium, resulting in home fans especially those with young supporters staying away from OUR home.
Passions ran high at that meeting and four or five speakers laid the situation out very clearly, including one who is now on the SMISA committee. It was pointed out by more than one person that a decision must be made before season ticket prices were announced Mr Neeham gave the impression that would happen. That’s what me and my companions took from his comments. Now look at where we are.
Why has ‘toxic’ been so downgraded that we now need a ‘SURVEY’ to tell us what we already know? This needs sorted and sorted now. Supporters stuck by the club over two years, paid their money with no idea when they would be able to return, and are now treated with contempt.
What kind of commercial decision is this? Where is the marketing expertise we have heard so much about from Kibble? Believe me, after all my years in industry and technology no company that has to actually earn money rather than apply for grant after grant would treat its customer base in this manner.
I am certain no SMISA member would agree with this shambles. Supporter friends of other clubs like Killie and Motherwell I’ve told are gobsmacked we are being treated like this.
Good, loyal supporters are being treated as though they are stupid. This is a classic situation where the board will announce that not enough tickets have been sold (due to a situation they themselves have created), so they have no option but to keep the two stands as they are and the fans can suck it up.
It feels like this situation is being manufactured. Are we short of money? It certainly looks like it.
Fans elsewhere in the ground hate this too and won’t buy in.
    Community club?
Do you hear the supporters board of directors? They stuck with you. Now you have to stick with them. Fix this now.

I don't think he's ready for first team Premiership football, hardly anyone is at 16/17. John McGinn was nowhere near the first team at that age, he made his first start when he was 18 and Kenny McLean was the same - hasn't held either of them back. Bare in mind he went on loan to Queens Park in January, and couldn't get a game.  If he can't get a game at League 1 level should we have played him more in the top flight?
That's not a slight on Reid, saying he's not ready now doesn't mean he won't be a fantastic player in the future, i'd be surprised if he doesn't play for Scotland one day. Can't see him signing an extension though.

Well given that he seems to have been popping up with important goals in what has been a stop start season injury wise and given that the top scorer in the entire league this season has managed only 13 goals, I'd say we're definitely not in any position to let 8 goals a season go begging.
Brophy seems to be getting a lot more stick on here now that folk are off Main's back. Don't understand it whatsoever, he's been a good signing for us.

You are having a f**king laugh surely 🤣
How many has Main got this season and how many good games has he had?

Brophy got zero service before and found himself always dropping deep to collect the ball because of this, we literally created f**k all and now all of a sudden you want him released because we have been creating more chances these last couple of games that he has been out injured in, away!!! 😂

I see Callum Hendry scored again for the Saintees last night, he's been excellent for them since coming back from his loan at Killie. He's 24 and out of contract in the summer, definitely one i think we should be offering a deal too.

Ridiculous kick off time given the distance, 12 noon on a Sunday? FFS.
Had the fear this game was going to be crucial and i'd feel obliged to go. Thankfully it isn't, and as a result I won't be there. Fair play to any buddies getting up at the crack of dawn on a Sunday morning to make that journey for an end of season kick about.

Brophy has been good for us, when he's played, he is our top scorer with eight goals. His problem has been he's never been consistently fit, he seems to play for a few weeks then get injured for a few weeks.
I am sure he will be here next year along with Main and Greive and they will all get minutes and goals - like they all have this season. I think that Lewis Jamieson and Kieran Offord will come into the squad as back up to those three, and depending on how they do in the league cup and early weeks of the season we may not need another striker.

I'd heard his season was over for the ankle op, could be wrong though. Tait looks out, his missus posted a picture of him in a moonboot on her instagram, so it will probably be Henderson RWB.
