I think 95% of Saints fans appreciate the work Oran did and like him as a person.
He did however have it in his own hands to commit fully to the club. I keep going back to that interview before the Dundee United game. "I am just concentrating on the next two games" was not the answer to give. We lost our assistant manager to Dundee because he clearly wasn't convinced things were stable here. We can appreciate the work he did whilst also accepting his personal situation was not working to the benefit of the club.

We already announced he was away back at the end of the season. 
He'd 100% not be here to see his loan deal out in the last week.

Forget about the commute itself, it is about commitment and about the stability of St Mirren. Kearney didn't put an end to the rumours of returning to Coleraine last season because he wanted that door still open. He went away on holiday and said he wouldn't commit to St Mirren until talking to his wife. In the meantime our assistant manager leaves to join a lower league club.
Now I don't know exactly what happened this week but it seems he now wants to move the goalposts again.
He simply isn't the most attractive candidate to be manager any more. The best decision for St Mirren is to get him out and get a new coach in.
Meanwhile we have managed to secure the signing of Popescu by the team GS has put in charge, who are fully committed to the club.

Going on information provided on both sides of the water it clearly looks as if Oran wanted to leave. Gordon is protecting St Mirrens interests long term and obviously is concerned about commitment to the saints. Certainly wouldn't be firing any shots in Gordons direction.

What sort of club at any level brings in a dozen trialists before first team pre-season starts, has them running drill with the U20s (as that was all that was in training last week) and decides to sign two of them without even gauging their ability in training against the first team squad members who aren't back until Monday?
We haven't even cracked a ball out yet and we are impressed enough by 2 trialists and confident in their ability enough that we are signing them? Come on!  
There might well be 2 new players in next week, I don't dispute that as I don't know either way. What I do know though is that they won't have signed following a trial last week.

its kinda like if a defender passes the ball back to his keeper and there is an attacker inbetween then the attacker is not offside

Yeah offside is now based on phases of play. First phase being the goalies kick, Oakley in an offside position but inactive like you say. Second phase begins when mack heads the ball meaning Oakley can't be offside from a St Mirren players touch. 
That was the rules anyway,  unsure if they've changed again though.
