Said the exact same when he went down, one of a few almost irreplacable players we have.

Agree. Goodwin and Thommo both need to start on Friday.

Goodwin was one of the better players last season, should of played yesterday from the start with Thompson.

Does not matter whether you want Goodwin at the club or not fact is he is at the club as such should be used. As I wrote if he does not play on Friday night Morton will over run us.

This. We missed leadership on the park. Whether it's sweeper in a back three (Tommy Turner role) or at the base of a five man midfield, we need his presence.

He must start on Friday night. There isn't a leader on the park and Goodwin is the one natural leader we do have. Yes, he's perhaps a tad overcritical of the youngsters at times but you can rest assured, he'd be talking some of them through that match yesterday.

what will the score be on Tuesday you seem to know what the future would hold?I'm not saying Goodwin is the answer to all our problems but Murray has a job to put the best 11 on the park to win games and conlan is a weak link at left back so I'd put goody in at the back till we get Webster or someone else signed up and get kelly at left back

There are fans who just don't have time for Goodwin and don't realize what he can bring to this particular young team.
Against Bradford Goodwin came on in the second half. What a difference in composure , tackling while he was the best passer of the ball by a mile in the Saints team. Fergie used Copland , Gus used Reilly, You need a digger between midfield and defence a battler , someone who talks and guides. We have that man sitting on a bench for me that is unbelievable and very short sighted from Murray.
The manager needs time to find the team he wants but he also needs experience in a young team. At the moment that experience is not being used sadly

Jim Goodwin is badly needed sitting between defence and midfield , he has leadership skills , can make tackles , pass a ball ,
most importantly in a team full of young players he has experience. To have such a senior player sitting on the bench is utterly stupid and a huge failure on Murray's part
Put your house on it , If Jim Goodwin does not play on Friday night Morton will over run us.
Feel free to book mark that.

No it wasn't, only player bullied was Morgan. We sat back, which is how Murray does things. Goodwin would not have done better than our central square and doesn't fit in anywhere else. I thought Gow was the wrong choice, I'd have preferred Mallan in with Morgan and McMullan supporting Gallagher.

Living up to my predictions - squad far too weak, still missing at least 5 guys who can play at, at least this standard.
Great idea bringing on the boys, but not all in the same team. We still need guys who can score goals or we will only win if they score og.s. Defensively - 2 shots on target, 2 goals!!! We managed to create 2 chances against DUMBARTON.
All the other squads that were decimated are looking better than us
Saints TV producing horror shows - get some DECENT players in - we are already 6 points behind!!!

With a lot of overseas travel, this is right up my street. Signed up already and cannot wait. Long overdue and great to see the Club exploring different revenue streams, and engaging with local educational establishments too.

I would disagree about him playing on Friday past. The tempo the game was played at in the first 20 minutes I would see Jim as struggling to keep up and likely to have conceded early fouls and drawn a quick card.
I think Jim does have a place this season, but more in games where we should dominate possession and the tempo is slower. Jim might be amongst the fittest in the squad, however pace was never one of his attributes and if he's being asked to track runners then it's not something he would be capable of in my opinion.
Like Div has said I would see the player looking for a move away if not getting game time, bizarrely I would think that he might get more game time at a team a level up like Killie, Motherwell or Hamilton than in a side in this division.

If Jim is still sat on the bench over the next fortnight I'd expect him to cut his losses and make a move.

I think it was a possibly a quickfire response to a room full of suoporters and that seemed the most sensible thing to say instead of revealing he doesnt rate him.

Let's be honest here, the age thing is a cover.
Murray doesn't rate Goodwin IMO.
Murray shouldn't have made the age comment about Goodwin. There wasn't any need to.

Shankland and Webster and I'd be very happy with the squad. Hopefully the wait for this lad will be worth it

The pull of a team like ours who should realistically be challenging for promotion SHOULD be good enough ro tempt him.

You reckon "Raymond" has just been on here and looked at the rumour mill by any chance? Would be nice if he was right, to be fair...
