It's an EU directive being rubber stamped throughout all the various parliaments and devolved assemblies. Just like 80% of all law being passed both at Westminster and Holyrood.
Our politicians are simply faceless stooges which give a veneer of respectability to the lack of democratic process going on.
As for plastic bags? It will do nothing, it will solve nothing and it is a further tax being added to the cost of living.
Anyone that actually welcomes the opportunity to be taxed more, is, in my view, a stupid c**t.

I do the weekly shopping. Here is what I do.
I go to supermarket, I put goods in trolley and go to checkout. I let the wifie scan them and I put them back into the trolley (no poly bags in sight). I pay up and f**k off to the car.
I have a couple of heavy duty cardboard boxes in the boot of the car. I fill them up straight out the trolley. I close the boot. I take the trolley back. I drive home.

Scottish government applying another EU directive as they rubber stamp their way through a very lacklustre parliament. There is almost an argument here for giving that shower of wanks at Holyrood more powers just to give them something useful to do.
As for the plastic bag tax, I will never pay it.
BTW does this mean that councils will no longer be giving out dog shit bags to dog owners? Councils have been giving these out for free for years now and it genuinely has made a difference to our environment.

I hope Hearts are duly relegated. They deserve to punished, and if it means a season of crap football, followed by relegation to the first division then fair enough. When I was a kid, Hearts were in the first division due to the fact they had financial difficulties. Up until Mercer arrived and sorted them out anyway.
This is coming to a few other "big" clubs and frankly, they deserve it.
If you look at it from the fifteen point deduction ask yourself how many points IN FRONT of prudent clubs like us, the financially doped clubs were starting each season as they overleveraged on ridiculous wages to attract players we couldn't have afforded and they couldn't actually afford either.
It is good news for Thistle too, they SHOULD be able to finish in the play off spot now and, frankly, they will bring a bigger support to us than Hearts do, and we will go through to them in decent numbers. Its better for the league. The more east coast pish we can get rid of and replaced by clubs nearer us, the better.

Lots of teams should be interested in McGinn. The boy is going to have a good career if he can remain injury free.
The good thing for us is that we should be able to get decent money for the boy when the right club comes in for him.

Sounds like this nonentity is this summers McShane type figure, where various posters shed salt tears over this wunderkind that no f**ker ever saw play and who wasn't even deemed worth a pro contract.
How's McShane doing after he dropped down a level anyway? Haven't heard much about him.

it doesn't really matter to these players, they are on the highest wages in Scotland, outside the OF so paid well. The day they don't get paid they can leave, the day Hearts go bust they can leave but until either of those days happen they are getting a good wage. Not many, if any, will leave Hearts and go straight to the scrapheap.

I'm less concerned about these players leaving than most seem to be. Gowser will undoubtably be the biggest loss as he has been brilliant for us. We really toiled when he was injured, but even for that he has definitely been "looked after" by opposition sides who know if they give him no time and space it affects how we play as a team. He was THAT important to us.
Other players will come in, some will work out , some wont. We all know the drill there. But tis always good fun in the summer to see what happens, I quite like it when its a total overhaul.

A fair bit of needless knicker wetting going on. The fact of professional football life today when you don't command a transfer fee is the likelyhood you will move on when you're contract is up!,
Carey would probably imo sign a two year deal wanting more (or at least the same) than present. he hasn't earned it and he has had the opportunity to do so. So he moves on. perhaps he turned down a 1 year deal on a wage reflecting his worth over the piece?
There are literally hundreds of out of contract players, some really decent on both sides of the border looking for a club. It would be madness to tie up a wage on a player who hasn't performed when there are options.
I have a sneaking suspicion Carey's loss may be Imrie's gain??? And who's to know what good loan signings we may pick up? Who wouldn't in DL's shoes bite the hand off someone offering you Dummett, Newton and Goncalves knowing what you know now?
And none of us knew they existed on the planet this time last year!

Carey is talented, we all know that so it's frustrating that he has been here two years and wasted our time by not getting fit enough to do his work initially and then not showing his undoubted talent enough to nail down a first team place.
Parkin was always a squad player and thankfully we didn't have to rely on him much.
Both players are decent but were fringe players. Carey leaving is tough as I liked him as a player but he didn't do enough over the course if his contract. A waster really. Both MAY come back and do the usual , but neither were big players for us and just didn't show enough
The right decision as far as I'm concerned.

Great to read through this thread especially the bits during the game from Bluto. Well done sir!
I was almost glad Hearts scored early as I had more or less resigned myself to us being pumped at that stage. We had frozen and things looked VERY bad. But we have got a handful of big game players at the club, matchwinners. I said before the game that theseguys would be the ones that would lift us and by f**k they did that! That goal before half time changed the whole game, got us back into the game when we looked done for, it gave Hearts a kick in the nuts as they knew they had pummelled us and there we were level. Then Thompsons goal right after half time more or less screwed up any plans Hearts had for us. And the third...ooft!
Was there in 87 and while it was wonderful, it wasnt as good a game. Yesterday was a fantastic cup final, absolutely wonderful and one that none of us will EVER forget. And its worth mentioning Hearts fans yesterday. They were fantastic before and after the game. Just two sets of fans there for a good day out and hoping their team would win. No nastiness whatsoever. That just about restored my faith in football. And cheers to the Hearts punter who gave me a can of beer out his cargo on the way home. A gent!!
