seven years on, would you join if it was £2 per month ?
    well it is
    reasons for joining below........
    Fellow Buds
For two or so years now SMiSA, The St.Mirren Supporters Trust, has been on the face of it relatively quiet and has not been in a position to pursue its aims and purpose as vigorously as we would all have liked. Although situations out with our control such as the inability to purchase unissued shares in St.Mirren thus restricting our investment in the club and the focus of all connected with the club on the unsuccessful bid for community ownership, SMiSA has still continued with ongoing Youth Development sponsorship, organised various events for the fans and general financial support for the club, such as providing the bulk of the funding for the dome.

Having since reorganised the committee and with the willingness of some individual members to get involved has provided us with a new impetus to get our targets back on track.

The changing face of football finances and the seemingly out of control ownership issues of football clubs generally provided the realisation that sitting on a large sum of money that was going nowhere coupled with the needs or the desire of the consortium to sell their majority shareholding to a single owner would diminish our long held belief of any independent supporter representation on the board of St.Mirren, where ultimately the potential future of our club could end up in the hands of any individual who may have no concern or moral obligation to St.Mirren, it’s fans or the community it represents, but perhaps they may only be interested in the club as a personal trophy or even just the value of the assets of the club !

You may consider this unlikely based on the current circumstances at St.Mirren but some fans of other Scottish clubs also thought the same when their clubs handed over the majority shareholding to seemingly credible individuals such as Brooks Mileson, Craig Whyte, Angelo Massone, or Vladimir Romanov.

It is becoming more prevalent for the stability and long term future of clubs for the decision makers and the custodians of the club to be made up of people who have a lifelong affiliation with it.

    That’ll be you !

To ensure St.Mirren remains in the hands of its supporters for the next 137 years as it has done for the past 137, it needs the fans of today to be willing to contribute to the development of the club and be a part of a consolidated voice of the vast majority and for the club to grow and thrive from that base of enthusiasm and involvement.

The St.Mirren Supporters Trust intend for this group representation to be realised in a number of ways……

    > to increase the trust membership to include every fan who has an association with St.Mirren.

    > to increase the trust shareholding in St.Mirren through ongoing private share purchase.

    > gain backing and involvement from all local political and business partners within Renfrewshire.

    > use the experience and government backed involvement of Supporters Direct.

If you are part of any of the above groups we would love to hear from you but most of all we need you to join the Trust and become a member of SMiSA

For as little as £2 per month you will be playing your part in helping to ensure all fans have a strong collective representation in St.Mirren, allow ongoing sponsorship and positive results of the Youth Development facility at Ralston and ensure the continuation of supporter related events.

I am and always will be a St Mirren supporter but I have swaying on renewing my season ticket mainly due to value for money but this has swung it and I won't be renewing it after the appointment our new manager.
I will be cheering on the boys and supporting our new manager as always but I am embarrassed on how this has come about and the BoD have to take the majority of the blame
If I was DL I would be raging as this has not just happened in the last 24 hours but must have conspired and planned for weeks possibly months behind his back by our BoD, his assistant, his captain and one of his senior players in Teale. Disgusting treatment for our cup winning manager he has been stabbed in the back by people close to him...
You deserved better Danny no matter what people thought of you.

Don't appreciate the timing of the interview to be honest- right before tonight's game- could he not have politely declined and let the focus be on the game? If the BoD are meeting tomorrow why not come out and speak after that? Most fans will want to thank DL for his efforts on Saturday- I can't remember a nicer manager being in charge (and yes, we know results haven't been great and it's been a roller-coaster) but he's been a great ambassador for our club and conducted himself admirably at times. I don't want another young manager in who has to learn on the job when we've been through this a few times before.....

it should have been dealt with three years ago
However that's not the main point
the article is not about having a go at the directors. As well as acknowledgement to provans there are suggestions as to how the club and jd sports could, with a bit of thought maintain the financial benefits to both parties and provide a service to the fans.

being a bit of a technophobe I am unable to provide the link but if you go back up to the top of this page there's a link to www.smisa.net then the menu at the left hand side of the page . . Join the trust
the website is going through a bit of an overhaul at the moment including being able to sign up on line, but at the moment you have to download the form and print it before sending, a bit of a hassle I know but hopefully this won't be necessary in the near future.
    thanks

the intention is to purchase or proxy as many shares as possible, so unfortunately the buying price will not match what the consortium are looking for, £12 I think it works out at, but as has been mentioned by others the 48 % at the moment seem to be worth very little in that the hundreds of people who own them have no say in the running of the club as even if they all voted the same way just 5 individuals with the 52% can over rule them.we also want to purchase as many as we can for the £50k we hold, as well as obtaining the proxy votes for those we can't afford or where individuals do not wish to sell, all that is left of the 48% would be those who want to keep their shares and their vote which is understandable but our feeling is that collectively each of these individuals should also have an input to any decisions, the point being individually or collectively some of those within the 48% have more shares than some of those calling the shots within the consortium !
we feel that the accumulation of shares for the supporters trust is a somewhat different concept than any individual buying the 52% in that the supporters trust is a democratic body and any the more people in the trust means that more people are having a say on the outcome of any vote or in the running of the club as opposed to the one individual (as planned by the consortium) that can pretty much do what they want
in short we feel all of the fans and shareholders should have an input and be part of the club and only by pulling their resources into one group can they hope to influence the board if they choose to do so, not just to be owners of some worthless shares
ps as well as the accumulation of the shares and / proxy it is also important that the supporters trust has as many members as possible to be truly representative of the fans and add weight to any potential influence of the board, so please checkout the website for more info.

anyone wanting to have total control of the club, as it would seem the 75% will give them, is up to no good. the only reason anyone would want this, as opposed to just the 52%, we can only assume that's because they know they are likely to get resistance for whatever plans they might haveI'm not even comfortable with one individual owning the 52%

no, they just want the principle of any fans trying to create an atmosphere to be allowed to do so
why did we bother building a new stadium when we could have used the public library instead
