Given the events of recent weeks this seems an extremely appropriate and considerate gesture
Very well done to those involved.

This is a tricky one, heart says yes but head struggling to agree. I like Jim and would love to see him back to his best. And him turning down Hibs a couple of years ago speaks volumes about his character.
Two seasons ago he was great, last season he played in central defence and was way less effective. This season must have been a nightmare for him. And has struggled to find form all season.
That said over the course of the last 3 years the team has only really been at it's best with Jim playing well in the heart of midfield.

“I’m quite friendly with him [Danny Lennon] and while I want the best for Hibs I’m a St Mirren fan at heart and want them to stay up for the club’s sake and Danny’s." Brian Hamilton, Scottish Cup winning legend!

Haven't seen this mentioned before; but to add to the Gus vs. Danny debate....
Last week's win against Hibs meant that Danny overtook Gus in the number of wins the team has had in their 4 seasons in charge (35 vs. 34), with 4 games remaining!
All that and a cup too. Well done Danny!
ETA. Also FWIW, just noticed that the Hibs win also means Danny has surpassed Gus on points total also!.....151 vs. 148

    From Ronnie Mackay.....
Read in today's Scottish Sun how Kenny McLean hasn't ruled out staying at St Mirren..."Everyone is jumping the gun and assuming I'm away."
Would be fantastic for the club if he stayed, as he demonstrated on Saturday!

Thought that myself at first......however if you look at the replays it's not really true.
The challenge is clearly one footed and his leading foot is nowhere near Thomson. Given that, it's hard to claim Goodwin has no control or that the challenge is reckless. I personally still think it was a bit stupid, and as Pat Nevin claimed on Sportscene "hopeless but not reckless". Absolutely not a red card.

Given the above and the poor position of the referee, who was miles away at the time of the challenge, ther must be a reasonable chance of it being overturned.
Not sure what to make of Thomson's opinion except he is clearly lying to cover up his own ridiculous histrionics. Just makes him look stupid.
Thomson felt differently, believing the referee had made the correct decision: "I thought it was a poor tackle from Jim. I got there first and you could hear it back in Edinburgh - he clattered my shin pads. I thought it was quite nasty, to be honest."
    ETA. Finally managed it......

I've read some pretty stupid comments on this site in my time, but this one takes the biscuit.Although maybe you have a point what with all that full-on sectarian chanting at St Mirren Park, the hundreds of banners supporting terrorist organisations...
St Mirren have a support, a team and a history that we can all be proud of, and that is one accusation that could never be levelled at Rangers.

Newton played very well in that role today. Deserves credit. I don't understand why he's not played in that position more often.
I think it was a good call by Danny to play Newton ahead of DD today. We had a bit of extra pace in midfield which kept Erememko quiet. Well thought out team selection today
Not sure about Magennis on the right wing though.
