No, no no. Just no. It can't be Teale.
Working on the basis that we hope someone will become a good manager, or giving them a chance, or settling for the easy/cheap option, is exactly what's got us into this mess.
We got very, very f**king lucky when it worked out well with Gus McPherson. But otherwise this approach hasn't worked for us.
Teale's not been good enough: we were more than save-able when he took over, and our closest rivals really aren't very good either, yet we have gone down meekly.
Also, let's put the myth to bed about him giving all these youth players their chances: he only opted to do it once we were down. He only opted to do that once we had shipped eight goals without reply in two games against our two closest rivals (who are f**king shite). We made Motherwell look like world beaters. The only amusing thing about that night (with hindsight) was the false sense of security/hope it gave the Well fans.
I'm sorry, he seems like a nice guy and he remains a cup winning legend. For his pass to Isma, I will always be grateful. But he is emphatically not the man to rejuvenate a club that is well and truly in the doldrums. He is not the man to inspire fans to get behind the club for a promotion push. I don't even believe he's the sort of man who could sell the club and convince a few seasoned pros to join us as we try to get back up next year.
Let's stop wringing our hands and thinking these past few results have made it all ok. We have been utterly f**king shite all season and we need to bring someone in from the outside who will kick us back in the right direction.

Some amount of amnesia on this site in the last couple of days. I genuinely can't believe there is now a clamour of sorts to get him in after the abject failure of this season. I and the vast majority of people on here have said for months that this club needs a clear out from top to bottom. Get rid of dead wood.
It now appears that a lot of the same people who were signing from the same hymn sheet a few weeks ago are getting all misty eyed over a couple of glorified friendly results, forgetting just how utterly despondent and spineless we were under his leadership when it actually mattered! I think we have had 3 bad seasons due to cost cutting and poor investment of what little cash was made available. The cup was great and that was a very decent team but it's been downill since.

Big well done to all the boys and girls on the bus for the kind donations for our player of the year young Aaron Woodall, the cheque was presented today at Ralston by Thommo & Gary Teale it was a pleasure to meet the young man and hopefully his treatment is successful and he is back playing football soon. There will be a bus running for Hamilton details to follow.

I think they are shooting themselves in the foot here. You have just over two weeks to take up the offer then its increased? The fact that we have no manager in place, no indication who will be kept on, or who we aim to bring in, hardly fills you with confidence that all the above will be clarified by the end of the month.

Aaron is due to start his next batch of Chemo tomorrow so won't be able to be at the Motherwell game on Saturday. The family felt that might be a bit much for him anyway, it's quite a lot for a 6 year old to deal with.

The £285 I spent last year definitely didn't represent value for money. Apalling football and even worse cutomer service.
The club will have to do a whole lot better if they want me to part with £275 to watch them in the Championship.

With the fully bespoke facility available from JD, having had a bash at it myself, for subsequent seasons I always thought the BoD could host a design competition for fans, in age groups. Get the kids involved drawing and sending in designs. The BoD could choose a winning design, (take the basic premise of it anyway) and give it to JD to work up professionally, and tidy it up into the finished article.
Have a prize for the winners in each age category - a trip to Ralston, meet the players, photos with the winning strip, match tickets, something...

Teale had his opportunity. Let's not forget he signed several players in January and hardly gave any of them a game. Time for a whole new management team.

Nearly ten years as a top flight club ended by one of the worst, and most spineless, St Mirren teams I have had the misfortune to have seen since 1976. Shat it in two massive games where there was still a sniff of salvaging something - 5-0 and 3-0 defeats to Motherwell and Ross County. Signed known wasters like Arquin, Gow and Wylde. Sold Kenny McLean on the last day of the window. Bumped up the 'wheeler dealer we want' Gary Teale, after the unadulterated disaster that was Tommy Craig. Could hardly score a goal at one end of the park or keep them out at tbe other end.... all while wearing the worst kit since the bib, sanctioned by a BoD who will now, (after treating us like the knickerwetting keyboard warriors we obviously are), want to court us with a pleading request to renew STs for a Championship containing at least four clubs who will most likely kick our fcuking arses.
Two years and they cannot even update a couple of *** pan*ls. Three or four days after a young cancer hit St Mirren academy player wins a POTY award, and while the BBC and other news outlets run this feelgood factor story, they cannot even mention it on their own website.
Apart from that, look on the bright side. We'll have the best airdome in the division.

Well done everyone who voted for Aaron. As Div said there are more important things than football (sorry Bill Shankley). This is something Aaron will treasure for the rest of his life. Wishing the lad a speedy recovery.

Delighted with that result. Well done Aaron. Even if the team had a good season, he would still be top of the pile.

It's been a shocking season to be a Saints fan but I feel so bloody proud to be a St Mirren fan waking up this morning to see this story in national press.

I've been avoiding POTY polls and surveys this season like the plague, so was delighted to hear about this when someone mentioned it at work tonight. Jaysus, aye, talk about a sense of perspective. We all know our forum can be an absolute bitchfest and we argue and fall out about nothing much. We've all said things at times that we regret. But I enjoy being a member of the B&W Army and the West Bank. Today though is probably the first time I've been genuinely proud to be a member. Well done to Div and everyone responsible for helping us get this great result.

As Rick has said above, we manage to eat each other regularly on this site, but reading this and seeing the national reaction to this makes me proud I voted (as opposed to today in the less relevant election) and that the right result came out on top.

I've just read what the St Mirren fans have done, by voting for young Aaron Woodall as your Player of the Season.
I'm a Pompey fan (yes, I'm South of the Border!), but whenever I read or hear something like this, I just think how great true football fans are when something really important happens in their Community....so well done to the Black and White Army.
You may know that we Pompey fans bought the Club a while back (after some terrible Owners nearly bankrupted us), and at the start of this season (although its finished now) we ensured that the first Team shirts were printed with the names of all those Soldiers from the Portsmouth regiment who lost their lives in WW1. That brought about an amazing response from other fans from all over the World.....and so I hope that you guys get the same recognition, and more importantly, that your efforts helps give support to young Aaron and his family.
Good luck to both our Teams next Season.....I think we'll need it!!
