aReally cannot abide 'supporters ' that buy a season ticket and think it's their God given right to demand that the board (or a.n other) spunk millions into a football club!
Or you another one that thinks Gilmour n co are siphoning billions into a retirement fund? They're spending what the club accumulates, the financially sound way to run a football club. Say they did hand the keys over to someone else, they'd either run it with the same resources or plunge us into debt again and I doubt we'd get another telco deal to bail us out

I DON'T think today's performance was down to investment. The players to win and win comfortably were all there.

The way im seeing it is that mclean clearly wanted a move away, though to stay in the uk. He was offered a new deal before the old one was done and never signed it, had a few suitors but none willing to pay the development fee. The BOD offered him another deal and an agreement that if the development fee was met hed be allowed to leave. The BOD seem to be taking pelters for this?
Start of the season this was the options. Kenny stays, signs a 2 year deal, if he does well he gets a move and we get a few hundred thousand (or the development fee money) or we offer him f**k all, he goes abroad so not to be frozen out of football n we get f**k all.
or have I got this completely wrong?

I hate using this term as it makes me sound like a prick but a lot of people don't understand the economics of how a football club runs. More so during this transfer window, people in a blind panic for us to sign players before the window shut lol.

No this is spot on. Most fans know the BOD did nothing wrong here.
They could have let him walk away abroad for nothing in the summer, or they could have agreed to him signing on his terms. They chose the latter and I'm delighted they did. Imagine where we'd be if they'd chose the former?
Kenny was at a level above the rest of the team this season. I said he was clearly too good for us, and so did our manager. It's no surprise he's moved on. The timing isn't great obviously, but that's what these transfer windows do.

On the build up to the 2nd penalty, 2 things crossed my mind. Firstly, from where I sit -M3 - that guy is well offside. No debate. Secondly, the main stand linesman is yards off the line of play . No debate. Had he done his job , the mayhem that followed courtesy of Mr Collum would have been avoided .

Id say give them a couple of games. You've got to expect that if they promote GT n DL there will be another wage available come January, which we are in desperate need of.
Then all we need to do is get a new youth team coach, have been reading online that tommy craig is out of work, hed be ideal.......

I'd rather give Teale a crack at it than any of these 2.
Prefer more experience than this type given our current position. Someone like this should be a start of season appointment IMO.

Jim Goodwin is the type of player every supporter should want in their team. A jersey til they die kind of player. Take no prisoners mentality. Yes he needs to rein it in now and again but we have been crying out for a player like him since the legend that is Billy Abercromby. Make no mistake, the SFA are clearly gunning for him again but stick by him. Eventually they will be shown up for the utter ring pieces that they are...

I happen to live in Paisley and be a massive football fan, as such SMFC receive ticket money from me each year, so I guess it depends on where you draw the line between supporter/fan/any other category of attendee.
A lot of St. Mirren "fans" at the league cup final I noticed...don't see more than 2/3 of them on any given Saturday when I go, the definition of fan is up for debate it would appear.
I would like to see them do well for a few reasons however, firstly because I would prefer to watch a decent side of course, and a lot of my family are SMFC fans, so personally I definitely like to see them turn up and play some decent stuff.
As a football club they probably are under-rated a lot of the time even by their own "fans". Being the only club from the biggest town in the UK gives them a certain stature, they are a proper club who are properly run with proper facilities and a proper outlook, which could have gone wrong if the deal for Love St. played out differently of course but as things stand they deserve kudos for manoeuvring themselves into a healthy position, they have a good base to work from is my point.
Yes they are a small club, with a small budget, and limited resources, however they play in a very small league, with a lot of other small clubs, with small resources and small budgets, and this season in particular they are surrounded by these sides with not a lot of exceptions, hence my rationale that the "we are just a tiny club in the big SPFL Premiership" position simply holds no currency.
As a club they are in a healthier position than a lot of others, and I don't see why this shouldn't translate to success, in particular this season.
As for matters on the pitch...I actually happen to think that the SMFC squad this year has more than enough about them to be up there challenging, they have some very decent youngsters with a solid season behind them as well as a few notable veterans, in relation to the majority of the league I make no apology for suggesting that they really ought to have a successful campaign...
I'm off now to go sit down and shut up for a bit since I've taken up some serious word count here fairly recently...
