Tell you what though. On a serious note, if the BOD do sack Danny this week (as predicted in the papers), they would genuinely need to explain where they found the money from when Danny couldn't apparently get enough cash together to buy the players he wanted.
I think as fans that would be the minimum that we'd deserve from them.

We need to be far more patient in possession but that takes bravery and confidence - we need to find it from somewhere and quickly as the way we are playing just now will never win us enough games. That era did give rise to the funniest newspaper headline I can remember in Saints terms after a late season dooing at home from Hearts the Sunday Mail (I think) had the match report under a headline HAY, HAY WE'RE THE MONKEYS !

Well we are going through an extremely rough time of it at the moment and with everyone pointing fingers mostly at the manager I feel we need to come together as supporters starting on Saturday. We have enjoyed the good times winning the league cup now it is time on Saturday to get right behind the team and show everyone we are together in bad times.
No matter what our personal feelings are about the manager, players and BoDs one thing we all care about is the club doing well and we can play our part on Saturday with being vocal with our support from the 1st minute until the last. Even if we go behind let us try and raise the roof with positive support. If we do that consistantly at all our home games nobody can say we never played our part in trying to turn around the fortunes of this club on the park and therefore if the form continues others will fall on their sword.
So calling out to all buddies get down to the stadium on Saturday and get right behind our team.

Lets get right into this mob from the first minute - it's Partick Thistle FFS - reading some of the comments on here you would think we were due to play Bayern Munich on Saturday.
Lets get back to 4-4-2 and assuming we havent signed a striker get Harkins up alongside Thommo playing as a striking partnership. Midfield as it was at it's best last season Teale, Newton, McGownan and McGinn. DVZ needs to be dropped and I thought the defence we played v Kille did fine. Play that selection in a traditional 4-4-2 and lets get torn right in with the crowd right behind THE TEAM never mind the manager it's the team on the park we support. Lets show Plastic Whistle the real St Mirren and kick start our season.

Perhaps Teale had a blinder due to the solidity of Darren behind him. On that form Gary needs no support thus leaving the full back to do his primary function which I thought McGregor did very well.Added arial ability a huge plus too. Way better option than DVZ or Robertson in my eyes

This thread proves the old adage about opinions being formed by preconceptions.
My opinion? I thought we played far better than I expected.
From an attacking point of view I don't think the sending off made a difference as they just went to a 4-4-1 formation therefore I believe it wrong to say we wouldn't have scored 11 v 11. As it happened, on another day, we could have won this game 3 or 4 to the good
As far as the players were concerned.
Cornell didn't have a lot to do but he came out for any cross balls and didn't fumble once. He was slow to make a decision with ball in hand but I hope that changes as he gets used to his teammates.
Grainger has a sweet left foot and had a power of work to do as most of the Killie wing play came down their right.
Cheesey and Goodwin were reasonably secure with the former helping Grainger out and spraying some good balls in the second half.
It was hard to judge McGregor as he didn't have too much to do on the right flank. Their No 19 was cutting inside and, to be fair, ripping quite a few of our lads a new one. (I was really happy to see him replced!).
I was a bit dubious about McLean starting but I felt he did ok and looked to help the defenders when required.
Newton continued where he left off last season and covered every blade of grass with his tough tackling and bursting runs.
McGowan improved as the game went on but was definitely culpable, at least in part, to their goal when diving in to the tackle. He actually did exactly the same later in the game but we got back to cover.
Harkins looked the part and I don't agree with those who say he's lazy without the ball. I thought he tracked back well and put in a few good blocks.
Thompson looked more like his old self and could have had a hatrick if not for our ex goalie.
There's nothing I can say about Teale that hasn't been said already. Star player and man of the match by a country mile.
All in all we looked more like a team but I came out feeling this was more like a defeat given our failure to capitalize on our undoubted superiority.

Do you remember the season after our previous cup win. Thankfully the current custodians still do and are not repeating the spending splurge that followed that. All this "shame on you" stuff is total shite. Do you honestly think that Lennon and the board are not attempting to get players in. There is not much we can do if players don't want to come to us or they are outwith our budget. Most on here are starting to sound like they couldn't care less WHO we sign as long as we sign someone. Personally I'm much happier to wait for the right player and the price always drops the closer to the close of the window we get.

I will be disappointed with the squad currently assembled IF we have not added to it by the time the transfer window closes. We all know where we need to strengthen from DL down to fans but we have another 2 weeks plus to rectify that. We have to get the best players possible within our budget. To me that means showing patience and allowing the backroom staff to get on with it rather than panicking into rash purchases to placate nervy supporters. Plenty on here are screaming "give us a signing" but if that meant signing the likes of Barrowman who I personally think is nowhere near prem standard or waiting as a previous poster stated to see if Watt becomes available if his club sign another striker then I think we should wait. It may well be we have to settle for someone we don't reckon is good enough but at least lets give the club the breathing space they need to try to avoid that scenario.
