Good post. One slight correction - we were the better team in the second half of the season last season, statistically speaking. 

Usual balanced articulate Oran sensibly talking about how guys like Popescu are now playing their best for us once they are up to speed.
He and we all hope this is the case for the others like Mateo, Corbu, The Duck, Dreyer etc. in the next few weeks.
Too many on here ready to throw in the towel - crazy stuff - the hurdle does look high, but let's give a reasonable chance to see if we will managed to jump over it . . . before jumping off a cliff
For all the Ferdinand lovers and those who say Baird is not good enough - last night did not support your views one little bit . . .

I don't think a lot of people would have been posting that all the new signings bar two look worse or no better than the Stubbs signings if it had stayed 1-1. With 15 minutes to go it looked possible could go on and win it.  Motherwell score again and we lose heart and the game peters out.
Dreyer might not be the best winger in the league, but after 3 games with us he is looking useful, he should have scored but at least had his shot on target, he set up McAllister's chance and got the assist for Paul McGinn's goal. According to sme people he is worse than having Ryan Edwards, Cammy Smith, Lee Hodson playing out wide. I genuinely don't get that type of assessment about someone who met his new teammates 2 weeks ago.

Agree mate. My post was in defence of our keeper who is being mentioned by you know who for losing 15 goals.   I am not convinced OK has got tactics right and have to question the role Gus and Jimmy are playing here? Our midfield has been a huge problem since start of the season and has not been addressed. Injuries haven't helped of course.  There is clearly a huge confidence issue but it appears some players are not sure what their role is?  Perhaps some of that is down to so many new faces still settling in? 

Hopefully the new right back can play a bit as we need a change in there. Paul McGinn seems to get an easy ride, but was badly at fault for the second goal and was ripped to shreds last night.
Seems to have an obsession with getting ridiculously close to his opponent and continually gets beat.

The new guys haven't had time to learn where the feckin' loo is.
All those calling for change who were willing to wait for the window are proving themselves severely lacking in patience. I wasn't a fan of OK getting the gig and said so from the start but I am not going to slate the new recruits after one and a bit games. Especially when one of them was against 12 men.
The performance tonight showed signs of improvement and what was missing was the final pass/shot.
OK noticed we were getting hung out to dry on the left and made the change to counteract it.
I'm not happy with the situation and I do think tonight might be the end of our short stay in this division but I'll wait for a few games before giving up the ghost entirely.

It is just possible that we could have struck lucky and appointed a manager who might have dealt more effectively with the mess left by Jack Ross' untimely departure.
But I think we underestimate the scale of the problem we were left with.
It goes without saying that the Alan Stubbs fiasco did not help the situation but I consider that Oran Kearney should be given the chance to rebuild the team in the Championship next season despite the agonies we are witnessing at present.

Agree things behind the scenes need sorted. No idea who is behind (to blame?) for the signings - ch exec, manager, dof, chairman ? Take your pick.
But I'm not ready to board the sack the manager train yet.

The  Duck needs to be on the bench and maybe be an impact player until be proved his fitness .
Mullen and Jackson put in decent shifts , not the best partnership , but it's what we,ve got . Likewise Tansey and McGinn will be with us next season , so we should persevere with them in the middle .
There are enough decent players in the squad for us to still put up a fight . 

A couple of January’s ago, Saints were even more detached and certainties for the drop than the current lot is.  
I understand why there is ‘fan’ pessimism....   I almost share it, but I didn’t then and I don’t now.
However, there’s too many games left and too much fitba to be played before fat ladies even tune up.  It’s always been a roller coaster ride.   How many Buddies look on Shug Murray’s Stirling shot or the Murrawell turnaround last game of the season as highlights of that perpetually perplexing ride?
these are professionals, they have pride.  As someBuddie posted a bit back, “Anton Ferdinand doesn’t want failure on his CV”.

You said you stand by what you said but you said he was on a sticky wicket and questioned whether he would be offered a deal and said that you don't think ANYONE sees him as a long-term solution - so you were WRONG my friend.   
Now you seem hell bent on trying to prove that Baird is a dud cause he will make a mistake - He will at some point - all players do . . .
Wonder if you'll be angry if someone pitches in with an offer for him in the future?

Like most people I think he plays better with a good experienced pro beside him..... but who wouldn’t ?
Sure he makes mistakes, but can anyone tell us which of this team, and last years for that matter doesn’t.
