I couldn't make sense of that either, I couldn't make the meeting unfortunately but did speak to him by phone.
I asked about that and all he could say was that they could only base it on the info they had, worst case scenario and there were time pressures re a decision (which I took to mean they didn't have the time to do anything other than accept). The whole situation surrounding  "Rangers" at the time was all very bizarre

They should have applied a more rigorous analysis of the claims made by Doncaster and Regan. I found myself stifling a contemptuous snigger as they set them out in the board room that afternoon.
It was nothing more than doom laden, hyperbolic prophesies based on spurious projections, with absolutely no substance to back them up. Listening to Gilmour trying to justify the Board's acceptance of these predictions having just referred to Doncaster in the manner in which he had was a bizarre experience.

The thing is, though, Gilmour and Co sat in the board room and called Doncaster for everything (colourful language was used), yet were clearly willing to accept the shite he and his SFA sidekick were feeding them, as it suited their purposes.

Damned if you don't, etc. Aside from your somewhat premature assessment of the quality of the signings, as Pod says, there are unlikely to be be many 'quality' players out there looking for a move to a club teetering on the brink of relegation to the third tier of Scottish fitba.
To be blunt, I think this window is as much about shipping players out, as bringing them in.

Well, 3 new signings and we're now feeling a bit more confident.

You could lay a lot of things at Naisy's door, he's not the most technically gifted footballer in the world for example, but the one thing in my opinion you could never ever question is his desire and commitment to the jersey. He'd run through a wall for his team. If he ends up staying to the end of this season I'd have no qualms whatsoever about him playing every week.
